"This was my first visit. As per the reviews, when I drove to the inn, the landlady appeared and guided me to the free parking lot. From the parking lot, I walked through the garden to the front desk. It was more like a museum than a front desk, and the gallery was wonderful, and she explained a lot of things to me. This time, I stayed in a detached room. There was no TV, but I thought that it was okay. The air conditioning is a Sharp Plasmacluster. There is also a separate air purifier, which is also Sharp. This one has a mosquito repellent function, so it's safe. There was a shower room and an automatic toilet. It was clean. There was a sink in the room. There was no refrigerator, so if you need something cold, it might be a good idea to bring a cooler box. I asked for a private bath and relaxed in the warm bath. I almost fell asleep. It wasn't large, but it was clean and nice. Now, what about the meal? Auberge? I enjoyed game and creative cuisine. The chef is actually a chef who runs a soba restaurant. I was surprised that we happened to be the same age. He looked very young. From the first appetizer, the local produce and freshness, and the cuisine unique to this area. The dishes that he brought out, based on his ideas at the time, all his experiences, and imagining his customers, were wonderful and unique. I was so full, I couldn't eat anymore after the amazing handmade soba!! I wanted to declare this, but then he said there was dessert! I thought, "No way!" And then I was shocked when I saw the amount of dessert that came out. What is this? French toast, pudding made with soba tea, and fruit in a liquid in some kind of huge bottle...it was like fruit punch. No way, I can't eat this, I thought to myself. The chef said, "Please eat it with a straw!" I opened the bottle, put in a straw, and drank it. Wow!! It was amazing! It had a refreshing sweetness and aroma that I had never tasted before. What is this? It was tea soaked with various fruits. Wow, it was too delicious! Actually, it just kept going down! I almost drank it all up. The French toast was made from baked bread! Wow, a chef from a soba restaurant!! And it was light! It was so light and soft, yet crispy on the outside, it might have won a French toast contest. It was so light that I could eat it all. And the soba tea pudding... oh, oh, it was so light! It was so light that it went down easily. I've been talking about desserts, but the game dishes were also wonderful, and I was impressed with the sweetfish! What's more, the Kura Cafe in the hotel was reserved for us. Just for us two. I'm so grateful. At the end, they told me a lot of stories, and I learned a lot from them, as they have many thoughts in common with my work. I'll use this feeling in my next job. Now, I'm going to take a walk around the Udatsu townscape. Breakfast is also at the Kura Cafe. It seems to be on the second floor this time. I'm looking forward to it. The garden in front of the Kura Cafe, the forest, the scenery, the atmosphere inside the hotel. It's a wonderful, literary inn."

📍 1912-1, Motozumi-Cho, Mino

"We absolutely loved our stay at Nipponia Mino. We stayed in a two story apartment in the converted warehouse across from the main hotel and it was so beautiful. Each room had thoughtful stunning details - beautiful art on washi paper, a gorgeous soaking cedar tub, and antique furnishings. The host was incredibly helpful with suggestions of things to see and places to eat. We went to the soba restaurant across the street and he walked us there so we knew where it was (which was very lucky because otherwise we would've missed it.) He also rode his bike to our accomodations to make sure we found it and show us around. I loved the Nipponia. If we return to Japan, we'll definitely visit their other properties. Mino is also such a special place. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming and there's a lot to see and experience for such a small town -- from the paper latern museum to the centuries-old sake distillery. Don't miss the paper merchant's house, which has been turned into a museum, with tours given in English."

Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Mino ★★★
"The hotel is very new and spacious. Our check-in was quick and staff greeted us warmly. There was free parking, which is an advantage. Rooms are very spacious and well designed, there were room to laid out 2 big luggages. The view to the river nearby was also great. The hotel kindly offers a map of the city and restaurant info. They also offer to help book the restuarants. However, some info was not updated because a restaurant the hotel said is open turns out to be closed. Any how, our stay was pleasant."

Machiya Hotel Oyado Baison ★★★
"The hotel has an old-fashioned exterior, but the interior facilities are new and well-prepared. The staff were very friendly and helpful, pointing out attractions. The tea room serving tea and snacks all day and the library were pleasant surprises. The room with the ground floor garden view was very comfortable and had a great view. If you stay in an upstairs room, you have to climb stairs. If the bathtub were replaced with a hot spring, it would be perfect. I would definitely come back; I really enjoyed staying at this peaceful and comfortable hotel."

"The environment is very quiet, and the owner's service is very kind. He also specially met our needs for dinner (my travel companion and I were unable to enjoy meat and seafood dishes). I really want to thank the owner and his wife."
