"Trying to work out what exactly made this such a special stay. Was it the incredibly warm welcome from our host, was it the themed cottage, was it the sunset or was it the friendly wave from the farm next door as they went about their afternoon chores? Or maybe it was the local port left as a sampler for after dinner or the spa bath overlooking the sunset. I think everything. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you are wanting to get away from it all. We stayed in the one bedroom cottage and it was perfect for us."

Nrma Lake Somerset Holiday Park

Nrma Lake Somerset Holiday Park

📍 78 Kirkleagh Rd, Hazeldean
★★★ 9.1 (11 reviews)

"Huge park in a beautiful location. Good sized caravan sites and easily accessed. However, this park attracts big numbers of campers in holiday times, and campers don't have access to their own facilities. The park has 6 facilities blocks. Sounds impressive but the actual numbers are poor. A total of 12 mens showers and 12 ladies for the whole location. Also, many of the facilities are not open in 'quiet times' and most of the facilities are not close to the main caravan and camping sites. When you can get one, the showers have good water pressure and are hot - but you have to hang everything you take into the shower on ONE hook. Also the toilets (just a few more than showers) aren't equipped with a toilet brush. All of the rubbish bins and the one dump point are located hundreds of metres from most caravan and camping sites. Not a caravan park laid out with customers at the forefront of design. Best to go in quiet times but not in school holidays and on busy weekends. On a positive note we experienced a grey water blockage and overflow - and this was dealt with and resolved within minutes."

"We went to Toogoolawah for the Rodeo and to meet our Gold Coast family including two grandsons. Had made a booking at the Hotel to stay overnight. Personally, pleased that the Rodeo was cancelled because we had more time with the family and had a lovely time at the Hotel."

Hillview Cottages ★★★★
"We went to Kingaroy for the Labour Day long weekend and stayed at Hillview Cottages. We stayed in a particularly quirky little cottage known as “The Church.” According to our host, the cottage was originally a church in the nearby little community of Memerambi. The cottage was incredibly peaceful with beautiful scenery looking towards the Wondai State Forest. It had everything you could need including a spacious living area, kitchen and bathroom that included a spa. Continental breakfast was included and there was no shortage of food to get the day off to a great start. We stayed for two nights and could easily have stayed for longer. There are numerous things to do in and around Kingaroy and Hillview Cottages is a great spot to launch out from. The cottages are located a little outside of the town but that adds to the charm. We will certainly be back! Thanks to Sheralyn and Dan for their hospitality."
