The George Hotel
"Great little spot in the centre of town, old fashioned and nicely upkept."
Albany House
"Great stay with work. Very accommodating and welcoming. Really lovely breakfast and comfortable high quality room. Wish I had had more time to stay longer. Easy walk into town and local amenities. Safe, convenient and easy stay. Thank you"
North Lakes Hotel and Spa
"Hotel is lovely, public areas and bedrooms are excellent quality. Staff are helpful. Apart from another resident had charged their drinks bill to my room and the staff asked me for proof I hadn’t ordered the drinks which seemed inappropriate and delayed my check in. Spa access is not included in price, costs an additional £15 for 24 hrs. The facilities are excellent though, the best gym I’ve seen in a hotel. Penrith is lovely. Definitely recommend."
YHA Helvellyn
"Great location, will definitely come again for a hule trip. Had to keep the window open as the carpet was a bit smelly, it could definutely use a cleanup. But ocerall a pleasant stay !"
The Ullswater Inn- the Inn Collection Group
"not bad place to stay for 1 night. the location is good, despite our room is near street and elevator, bit noisy"

"Really enjoyed my stay in Room 5 of this inn. There was ample parking for guests. The room was cosy and clean. I especially loved the breakfast menu at this inn. Every night, you can fill up a form with your selection and in the morning, you just walk up to your assigned table and breakfast is served!"

Glendale Guest House
"stayed one night, single room £55 plus £5 for breakfast. Very good deal when compared with the competition. Located a short walk from the town centre. Parking can be an issue in Penrith, but Glendale are lucky to have a cheap public car park just a minute's walk away! Parking is free 6pm until 8am. Glendale is definitely a high quality B&B, fully refurbed mid 1800's spacious building oozes character with its decor, carefully selected furniture and adornments in the shared areas. My room was immaculate. The owners are very friendly and attentive and obviously go the extra mile to please their guests. 5* will return"
The Brantwood Hotel
"A really super night stop. Wished we’d time to stay longer. Beautiful room with top quality bedding & curtains. Cosy bar & lovely conservatory in which you are welcome to sit & unwind even without a drink. Lovely dining room with great wallpaper in the breakfast area. Delightful staff & very pleasant locals who were happy to interact with us tourists. Conveniently situated off the A66 & M6."
Shap Wells Hotel
"The service was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our experience of the room was adequate, however we could not use the shower it was impossible to have a shower due to the low ceiling so we could not stand up straight. I personally could not use the bath due to myself falling a few years back and having a complete new elbow since this incident I am very cautious of getting into a bath. This being the case I did not have a proper clean. This was not good has we had been hiking and really wanted to get ourselves cleaned up and changed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and you could not fault the food at all it was excellent."
George and Dragon Clifton
"The room was freezing! The heating only came on for a couple of hours. The room was ok comfy bedding, not worth £175 though. The shower made a squealing noise and the bath tap dripped all night. Breakfast alright (beans were cold). The staff at the bar and restaurant were commendable."
The White House Guest House
"I have been travelling to Scotland every year for 20 years and this is the best value and most welcoming B&B that I have found on route from the South. Prue is a wonderful host. Perfect for humans as well."
Macdonald Leeming House
"Suitable for self-driving tours, other ways to come over is more troublesome, the room may be close to the woods, some small flying insects in the room."
The George Hotel
"What a fantastic Sunday roast we have just had at The George Hotel Orton, it was up with the best roast dinners we have had. The plate was loaded and all very well cooked and presented. The Pub has a great atmosphere, and very busy, great beer, Wine and food what more can you ask for on a chilly Sunday in Cumbria. Not forgetting the roaring log fire."
Cross Keys Inn
"We stopped here for the night as a half way point of our journey up to Scotland. We found the staff warm and welcoming, as was the pub with a lovely open fire. We opted for the pizzas for an early dinner and they were delicious, huge with a nice thin crust. We stayed in one of the garden chalets and it was perfect for us and our little dog. Warm and comfortable with our own parking space right outside. I’ve seen people moan about the motorway noise but not sure what you expect if you pick somewhere within close proximity to the M6 but it didn’t bother us too much. Lots of choice for breakfast which was very tasty. I would definitely stay here again."
Queens Head Inn
Abbey House B & B
"We had a lovely one night stay at Abbey House. The rooms were charming and warm, with many thoughtful touches. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. We had a delicious full breakfast before we headed off, and a lovely chat with Vicky our host. We were so pleased with our stay - hopefully we can come back again one day :)"
The Crown Inn Pooley Bridge
Brooklands Guest House
"Had a lovely one night stay here. The place is immaculately clean and tidy. Fridge in room is a lovely touch. Breakfast is wonderful. Lovely host."
Lane Head Farm Country Guest House
"We had an incredible experience at Lane Farm! Suruchi, Yash, and their family are wonderful hosts who made us feel like part of their family. Their warm hospitality and welcoming nature made our stay truly special. The breakfast spread, featuring delicious Aloo Parantha and Dhokla, was a highlight - a lovely touch for Indian guests! The location is perfect for exploring Lake District, with most spots within easy reach. The rooms were immaculately clean and tidy, making it an ideal stay for families like ours (we had a 7-month-old little one with us!). Suruchi's support with our baby was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Lane Farm for a comfortable and memorable stay. Can't wait to come back!"
