"Hotel is lovely, public areas and bedrooms are excellent quality. Staff are helpful. Apart from another resident had charged their drinks bill to my room and the staff asked me for proof I hadn’t ordered the drinks which seemed inappropriate and delayed my check in. Spa access is not included in price, costs an additional £15 for 24 hrs. The facilities are excellent though, the best gym I’ve seen in a hotel. Penrith is lovely. Definitely recommend."

"It was nice we got a newly refurbished room but we were there really late to check in due to cancelled train we had an awful experience! However the staff at George inexperienced could find my booking and wanted me to leave in a few hours after 12am in the dark another staff member came found the booking - he said that staff doesn’t have access - rather than admit he didn’t have access he wanted to kick me out! Even tough I showed him my booking and shared the booking reference! After that stares it was ok.. the staff were lovely! Forgot the veg sausages in my breakfast! It was so delicious we didn’t notice until after breakfast! Anyway 7 out of 10! This was only because of that staff member and the sausages! The place was vintage and homely but very clean!"

"I had a lovely stay and at the Travelodge, it was affordable and the perfect place for a base to explore the Lake District. The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the town centre but didn’t feel it was too far at my way. I’ll definitely come back if I’m coming to the Lakes again 😊"

Dunkeld Cottage is a chocolate box style cottage in a gorgeous village setting - ideal for touring the Lake District! The cottage features stunning beams and original period features throughout, with everything thought of to make your stay a comfortable, relaxing one! The cottage dates back to 1820 and yet has been extremely well maintained and looked after - with all the mod cons! The kitchen/breakfast room is particularly lovely and has pretty views over the garden and is very spacious. All of the appliances you could need are here - including integral dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, slow cooker and of course a hob and double oven. There is a spacious and cosy lounge/dining room which features a lovely (ornamental) fireplace, beamed ceilings throughout, comfy sofas, smart TV (ideal for Netflix evenings!), super-fast WiFi, and a desk with leaflets on the local area and further seating. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, again, boasting glorious beams throughout and are very charming. The master bedroom features a kingsize bed and the second bedroom has twin beds which can also be pushed together to make a supering. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage for your clothes and personal items. There is also a bathroom with a bath - ideal for a bubbly soaking after a long Lake District walk! The garden is fully enclosed and private and there is plenty of room for you to bring your bikes - and probably anything else like a canoe etc.. - just ask us! We love the fact that Ullswater is around a 15 minute scenic drive from the cottage and our favourite day out is a day's walking along the Ullswater Way and combining it with a boat ride along the lake and something to eat in Pooley Bridge or Patterdale. However, equally, the Pennines are the backdrop of the cottage, and if you want to head away from the crowds that can sometimes gather in the summer, then a delightful stroll around Pennine country may be just what you need! Likewise, Keswick is only a relatively short, scenic drive away - we recommend a boat trip, a hike up the famous Cat Bells, followed by a pub lunch or dinner in the fantastic town centre.
