"The staff was very friendly, the hotel was very clean, and the location was good. I had a great time. However, it was so cold at night that I wish there had been an electric blanket."

"The hotel has a lovely location, with view over small farms and houses to the hills beyond. It is a motel style hotel, semidetached chalet style rooms & suites. Our suite was clean & had lounge, balcony (to watch the sunset), bedroom with a large kingsize bed, tea area & ensuite shower room. Our stay was very pleasant, sad it was only for one night. Breakfast was included (the baguettes were excellent) & the hotel has an evening restaurant, where we enjoyed three Lao dishes, steamed rice and BeerLao. Lovely staff, pleased to help with any request."

"Pukyo is a 5-room B&B run by David who is a very friendly and helpful host. We got a room on the ground floor which was excellent for my husband who does not walk well let alone climb stairs. It was a big family room with a king-sized double bed and 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom with a very good hot-water heater. The bathroom floor gets wet and slippery after the shower but there is an anti-slip mat and Daivd knows about the problem which he is going to fix this summer. The aircon is very powerful and there's also a wall fan as an option. There's also a small TV but we did not use it. The B&B is about 4 min from the airport and less than 10 from town. David will take you to town for dinner in his comfortable van and wait for you. He very kindly bought dinner back for us the 2nd night as my husband was too tired to go out. There's a fridge stocked with beers and drinks and a water dispenser in the living area. We had wonderful chats with David who is a great font of knowledge and felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a commercial lodging. There are mosquitoes in the evening but David sells lemongrass -scented repellent for 11,000LAK - very effective also for outdoor tours. David has a outdoor seating area at the back and it's a very peaceful and pleasant place for breakfast or a beer at sundown. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David."

"A hotel that disappointed us with the reception from the noisy staff at night and offering practically no additional services (bike rental, laundry, etc.) in short, forget it. Breakfast was limited in quantity. I do not recommend it, poor value for money."

"We stayed at the Sipanya guest house for two nights. Abay the owner is very kind and welcoming. We arranged an airport pickup with him. It was only a half hour flight over from Vientiane. The tour options are great and we chose the tour with all three Plain of Jars sites, the old capital, noodle village and spoon village. The Plain of jars are spectacular and well worth a visit. The rooms are spacious and had good air con and fans. The bathroom is a good size too. There is a five mins walk to the Main Street where there are lots of eating options. Breakfast was delicious at the Sipanya Guest House. We had preordered what we wanted the night before. Abay really did go over and above for us. He ordered dinner for us and brought it up to our room when we wanted a restful first night. This is a lovely place to stay and I highly recommend it."
