Eremo Della Giubiliana Hotels in Ragusa

Eremo Della Giubiliana

"The hotel claims to be 5 star - it is not. Looking at their website they look as though they have some nice rooms but they also have some awful ones. We booked from Loveholidays website. The room we picked showed a beautiful large light room with bifold doors with a patio outside with a dining table (a picture of the room we booked is attached). Upon our return from holiday and complaining to Loveholidays the following day the pictures on their website of this room suddenly disappeared. Unfortunately the room provided to us (room15) was a tiny, dark airless DUMP - the window was more of a small hatch, you had to have the electric light on during the day . Upon complaining we were told that the booking was for a Superior Room with garden view and that was what we had been given. In the bedroom there was no wardrobe or chest of drawers (there was no space for them). There was no power point to charge your mobile phone- although there was one by the bathroom basin if you wished to chance being electrocuted. The garden view was a grubby courtyard complete with two open manholes . They turn the lights out at night. Upon being shown to our room for the first time in the early hours I nearly fell into one of these holes - about 40cm square and about 70 cm deep just waiting to break your leg or fracture your pelvis. The food was not good - if you were expecting fish in a beautiful wine sauce or a piece of chicken/lamb/pork in a rich sauce forget it. We dreaded the meals. We have had holidays all over Italy and never have had such poor food. The hotel certainly has a suit of armour in the hallway but their pictures of bikes for rent must have been taken 14 years ago - they are now just a load of rusting metal fit for the skip. Loveholidays have clearly mis-sold me by accident or design I do not know. Would you trust Loveholidays to provide the holiday you booked ? - I never will again"

Locanda Don Serafino Historical Boutique Hotel Hotels in Ragusa

Locanda Don Serafino Historical Boutique Hotel

"We stayed for only two nights but experienced three different rooms. We booked one of the Cave experience rooms but it did not work for us. The bathroom flooded and it was not pleasant. I do not recommend this path though we loved the hotel. The management was very willing to work with us and find different rooms, but we ended up in room number one on the first night and number 10 on the second night. Both were really great. The vibe of the rooms is modern chic in stone and if you end up in room one or ten I think you will love the vibe. The hotel is not really one building but a number of places spread out on both sides of the tiny street. We liked the breakfast room which was small and the ladies serving did a great job. we ate at the restaurant one night which was a treat though I wish I had dressed up for the occasion. The second night we had pizza and beer at the nearby terrazzo restaurant terrace which has a monster view and cost just 30 euros for dinner. we paid ten times that at the hotel’s restaurant. One thing to mention is that the hotel is on a narrow street so its not possible to stop in front when checking in. the hotel sent us some instructions as to where to stop and wait to be greeted. worked out well. We stayed here as part of a two week grand tour of sicily that included some much more elegant hotels, but don Serafino was one of my favorite places in sicily."

B&B Bianco E Blu Hotels in Ragusa

B&B Bianco E Blu

"I have stayed at Alessandro’s Bianco e Blu, in Via Imperia, Ragusa a few times and would always come back. The rooms are clean, of a good size, charmingly decorated, all the appliances work, and the location is close to the beach and town square. Breakfast is massive, and sets you up for the day. Alessandro speaks good English, and he and his team are very welcoming."

Villa Del Lauro Hotels in Ragusa

Villa Del Lauro

"Attention : the receptionist is a big liar ! The guy working at the reception is a disaster. He is dishonest and tried to charge twice the normal price for taxi that we ordered which was already over priced (130€ for 30 minutes ride vs. 60€ normal price) against huge commission from taxi company. Furthermore, they tried to charge the minibar which was free. The receptionist showed unwillingness when we left the luggage at the reception upon check out, even though it was to store for just a few hours, time to visit the old town. He put lots of pressure for check out time even it was about 11:10 and wanted to ask us to pay extra. There was no wifi nor air conditioning in the room which was literally a small cave. No fresh air in the room and impossible to get hot water for baby in the room. In addition, they forgot to put baby cot and charged additional fee for it (first time in Sicily during our 2-week trip). The only positive thing is that the servers for breakfast were very nice and helpful and there is a nice pool. It’s a pity that it’s ruined by the receptionists who were unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. The hotel’s management should alert the receptionists and give them a proper training."

"Fantastic structure, we stayed for 3 days and tried the couple massage that I strongly recommend! The owner boy is very nice and nice, but the chilli on the cake is the kitchen managed by Chief Cavalli person in a way and a real professional in the industry! We have been really good! We will surely return"

La Dimora di Spartivento, Signature Collection Hotels in Ragusa

La Dimora di Spartivento, Signature Collection

"We booked this believing it was an Agriturismo so were horrified to arrive & find a "Best Western" sign! And our initial feelings weren't helped by a disinterested receptionist & the clinically modern rooms. It's also located right next to a busy road, although somewhat hidden & there was no disturbing road noise noticed. All that said, the rooms were very clean & functional. We were obviously unlucky with our check in receptionist because all the other staff were, without fail, delightful, friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. Breakfast was okay, a typical Italian buffet, although the selection felt more supermarket than farm in origin, but the ladies running it were also delightful. The location is ideal if you have your own car, as it's great for exploring the surrounding area & towns. And the view from the pool & the terrace outside the breakfast room is beautiful. If they served more local produce & gave the rooms a little more character then this could easily be a 4 star."

Acacia Marina Hotels in Ragusa

Acacia Marina

"Lovely hotel a few minutes from sandy beach. 2 good sized pools 1 over 12s only + jacuzzis. Our room with a side seaview was a good size with full length and breadth window/glass door and good bathroom and good a/c. Worth extra money if you intend to sit out/spend time in your room or on balcony. Buffet breakfast well managed with tables cleared & relayed promptly as with the wide vatiety of breskfast items which included cook to order egg/omlette/panckes. We went half board and enjoyed the variety - different every night with typically a fish, meat and pasta dish cooked for you in a few minutes. A wide selection of savoury and sweet items again different every night. Majorty of guests used the many different restsurants in the area which those we spoke to said were good. Well staffed - waiters were charming and helpful particularly Giuseppe and Benjamin who always had time to say hello. Reception staff were helpful as was Jet2 rep who was from the local area so very knowledgable. Sadly it was a bit too hot for us to do the trips on offer to several historical sites. Would recommend the afternoon/ early evening speedboat trip which we were offered. . The journey from airport is just over 2 hours but does give you a chance to see some more of Sicilly. We were 2 sisters recently retired"

Poggio Del Sole Hotel Hotels in Ragusa

Poggio Del Sole Hotel

" Poggio del Sole Hotel Is a hotel of contradiction with impressive and grossly unimpressive features. The hotel is very large considering its remote, rural location. The foyer area is enormous with a large comfortable lounge area. There are numerous large dining areas and you can also eat by the side of the large pool. The pool also has a bar so you can order drinks and snacks. The decor is tasteful with wooden reproductions of a variety of cactus plants including the prickly pear, a noxious **** in Australia but its fruit is used to flavour spirits in Sicily. All sounds very impressive and favourable so far. So how do most people spend most of their time besides sleeping? Browsing the Internet on their phones and iPads. Whilst “free WiFi” signs are common in hotels, cafes etc., it is now a universal expectation. With this in mind, efficient internet connectivity is both mandatory and essential. During our two day stay, WiFi was generally unavailable. To make matters worse, the restaurant menu was only available electronically and there were no paper back up menus. Selecting a food choice from an invisible menu is a challenge. Understandably the restaurant staff seemed to be in a permanent state of stress. The food was very good but a prayer may be needed to get what you ordered. Oh! yes. The rooms are large and have all the expected facilities except for drink making items. Large bed but with 3-stars for comfort. Large bathroom, hot water but wafer thin towels. So lots of pluses, a few minor negatives and the WiFi issue may not be a regular problem (suspect it is), restaurants have atmosphere and reasonable food so just remember to bring a book to read for when your mobile device is inoperative."

"Bed and breakfast in the center of the quiet Ibla neighborhood in Ragusa. Ragusa is a charming town in the southeastern interior of Sicily. We were very pleasantly surprised by the room, recently renovated, and very comfortable. The car can be parked for free very close, about 80 meters from the entrance of the accommodation. About 15 minutes walk you reach the cathedral and the central area of Ragusa. Highly advisable, both Ragusa and the accommodation. Breakfast is prepared for you at the moment with a basic choice of sweet-salty. One of our best stays in Sicily"
