Fox and Goose Inn

★★★ 8.5 (47 reviews)

"We found the Fox & Goose last year when we drove by and noticed they were open for breakfast. We had THE most amazing breakfast ever, (as a B&B owner I don't say that often!) We had a nice welcome, the room was warm, spacious and had everything we needed. It was just a short stopover following a flight into Bristol airport before driving back to Cornwall. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. The room was surprisingly quiet with very little road noise, the bed was a bit too soft for us but we had a reasonable night sleep. Spoke to 3 members of staff at check out who were lovely, one even remembered me from last year! We are booked to stay again in February, it is excellent value for money. Hugely disappointed that breakfast is now a buffet, having spoken to staff I understand why they are doing that now, but we only booked as we were looking forward to the breakfast we enjoyed last year. Fingers crossed it will revert back by February!! LOL "

"The Lawns Tea Room B&B is a relaxing and a lovely place to stay. Lovely room and a great full English cooked breakfast. Simon is a great host and the little village of Ashcott is a great place to be based if you want to go to Taunton, Bridgewater or Street where Clark’s Shopping village is."

"We used to come here regularly but then it went very poor. However, we called in this week and had a wonderful meal. Each meal was very different and all were excellent. It seems it had new ownership last October. We will certainly be back as regulars. Highly recommend."

Best Western the Webbington Hotel and Spa ★★★
"This is a splendid Hotel and Spa set in the Somerset countryside near Winscombe. The Pool and Spa Facilities are very good indeed. There is a small sauna and a steam room that can comfortably allow 6 occupants. The Gym facilities are excellent and extensive. The Pool looks great though I didn't swim on this occasion. All the staff speak good English. The Bar is very comfortable with plush sofas in the Lounge area. I didn't dine, but the Dining area is large and looks comfortable. The outside area gives a beautiful view of the landscape and Brent Knoll. Nit Picks... Check in is strictly at 3pm and not before so there might be queues at that time. The corridors are confusing and first time guests might get lost. In the bathroom the Shower gel and Shampoo dispenser are in small bottles fixed to the wall by the shower and pressing once dispenses only a tiny amount. The service at the Spa was not quite right on the first night and very little was explained. It was better in the morning. My room was small, but very clean. The TV remote needed a very firm press to change channels of volume, but you get the hang of it eventually. I will stay again. The room rate by Trip com was amazingly good and better than any other Online provider. Well done Trip com. Below a picture of the landscape from the road below the hotel."

The Lawns Tea Room and B&B ★★
"Combining a weekend of shopping at Street and visiting the RSPB Ham Wall reserve The Lawns was an idea place to stay. Simon gave us a friendly welcome and made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Our was clean an comfortable. The highlight of the visit was the breakfast. There was a good variety of cereals and the inclusion of fresh fruit was wonderful. The "full English" was delicious, cooked to order and arrived piping hot to the table. We have no hesitation to staying at the Lawns again."
