"My wife and I are on our honeymoon and we got stuck in Santorini after our flight was cancelled. We informed the hotel and they said they would get back to us with information. They never did. We called again and asked to talk to a manger but the man on the phone refused to help. They happily took our money when it was not possible to physically be there and have cited their cancellation policy which requires 14 days notice. Unfortunately the airline doesn’t give us 14 days notice. They need to be more professional with their customer service and perhaps review their policy for extenuating circumstances. "

"Third year at the Alkyon, and already booked for next year We’ve visited Skiathos for 8 years now, staying at various hotels over the years. But we think we’ve found our forever hotel. This was our third consecutive year staying at the Alkyon. We stayed for a week and, as always, had a fantastic time. The hotel has a great location, friendly staff and wonderful views from the breakfast terrace where you can watch the planes coming in to land while enjoying a great buffet breakfast (plenty of hot and cold options to choose from). Being at the bus terminus is another big advantage, particularly for the beach buses. You can usually get a seat before they start filling up further along the route. We also had dinner included every night at the hotel restaurant, Carnayo. The following evening’s menu is displayed during the day, with two choices of starter, main and dessert. The included menu is deliberately simple and pared back, and we loved it for exactly that reason. If you’re looking for the full Greek repertoire, generous portions of gyros, mixed grills, souvlaki and all the traditional fare in a proper taverna atmosphere, then head out and enjoy one of Skiathos’s many tavernas. We’ve been to Skiathos eight times and have tried most of the restaurants we’d wanted to, so now we don’t feel the need for that every evening. Instead, we enjoyed the quiet simplicity of Carnayo: two choices each night, well-prepared food, and often something we wouldn’t ordinarily have chosen. In its beautiful setting and ambience, with familiar, welcoming staff, we always left feeling perfectly content. For us, it was a lovely change of pace and exactly what we wanted. The common areas of the hotel are excellent, the breakfast area is particularly beautiful, and the restaurant and bar are lovely. The rooms are perfectly comfortable, although a few small additions, such as a full-length mirror and tea/coffee sachets to go with the kettle, would make them even better. It would also be nice if the courtesy toiletries were replenished automatically through the stay. Very minor points, though, and certainly not enough to take away from the overall experience. Guests can also make use of the facilities at the sister hotel, Skiathos Palace, including its larger pool overlooking Koukounaries. The views are spectacular and it’s well worth taking advantage of the complimentary transport (you just need to book at reception, as places are limited). We enjoyed the pool and the views, but the Palace is a much larger hotel, which actually reinforced why we prefer the Alkyon. It’s smaller and therefore feels more intimate. And then there are the staff, who really are the gem of the Alkyon. We see many of the same faces year after year, and they remember us too, which feels lovely. Of the waiting staff, Tasos is friendly polite and courteous with a reliable attentiveness and quiet efficiency. Marios, Lambros, Vanessa and Dimitra were all warm, friendly and attentive, always happy"

"We had an amazing experience for the few days we stayed at the Avaton suites and villas. Rooms were spacious, nicely decorated with the use of hot tub. Combined with spectacular views to the sea, in the middle of woods was exactly what we needed. But above all you could feel their hospitality. Eleni and her team worked hard all hours to make sure every wish was fullfilled. Quite often Eleni was thinking for us before we even realise we needed something. Her moto was 'just ask'!! It was our first visit to the island, will cherish all memories. Thank you!!"

"We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of September. It cost 25 euros from airport to hotel by taxi. The hotel has beautiful views , and a short walk to Kanapista beach where you can get a water taxi to skiathos town for 4.50 euros each way. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill which takes you into town, however these are very full, we had to watch two buses pass us by as they were full to bursting .Breakfast at the hotel was shocking, often no coffee left and had to keep asking staff for glasses for juice. Also no cutlery, people had to wait because it was being washed., very slow replenishing breakfast items, people just standing around waiting for breakfast items. One lady was eating off a saucer as there was no plates. Totally unacceptable. There was two lads working the bar there who worked very hard and a credit to the hotel. Reception staff were lovely but definitely not a 5 star hotel,"

"This is our last day of 10 spent in this wonderful hotel. The hotel is spotless, cleaners do an amazing job. In fact ALL the staff are wonderful. From the 2 on reception, Heleni and Vivienne, who go the extra mile to help you. The barmen are a treat to be with. Zafira is one of the best I’ve come across in all my years of travelling. Dmitri is also very good too. The food is even better this year than last, good wholesome food with plenty of choice. If you want a lovely relaxing holiday I totally recommend this hotel."

"Excellent location, just steps from the beach. Just a 10-minute walk from the center and the port. The bus stop is a 2-minute walk behind the hotel. Excellent breakfast with a sea view. The only drawback is perhaps the ground-floor room, which was impossible to open because it faced a pedestrian street. The bathroom was a bit small. Overall, a great experience. Recommended."

"Located approx 15 mins walk from Skiathos town this is a perfect small adult only hotel with just the most friendly and professional staff. Rooms are all suites and lovely, views are stunning, especially the higher up you are. Be aware of steps, there are a lot, 103 to room 206 but you only do a few times a day and does work off dinner. Breakfast superb, lots to help yourself to plus options to choose from for freshly cooked. Lunches were lovely , we always shared as didn't want to over eat. Never ate in the evening as like to wonder into town which was an easy walk both ways. Pool was cleaned every day first thing and only had 1 day when all sun beds taken by 11am We love Greece and skiathos is one of our favourite islands. We would go back one day but like to try new islands so maybe in a few years I can't say enough about the staff , and I mean every single one of them from reception,bar, maids, pool/gardener, to snr mgr. Everyone of them are stars❤️"

"We had the most amazing stay at Petra Nera and honestly couldn’t recommend it enough! Our room was lovely, clean and fresh, with a private pool and beautiful views. We especially loved having the sun on our bedroom terrace until around 1pm, with the main pool always there if we wanted to continue sunbathing afterwards. Housekeeping came every day and were always so friendly. The food and drinks were delicious, but it was the staff who truly made our stay so special. Everyone was incredibly friendly, chatty and accommodating. As someone who is gluten free, I was so impressed with how well catered for I was. They provided gluten-free cereals, bread, muffins and brownies, and after just one day they remembered us for the rest of the trip. Nina and the young gentleman working at the bar in the evenings deserve a special mention! Nothing was ever too much trouble. We asked the hotel to arrange a Suzuki Jimny for us and within minutes it was sorted. Jenny was incredibly helpful and made us feel so well looked after throughout our stay. And last but certainly not least, Aaron, aka “The Captain” from the concierge team. We have genuinely never been greeted so warmly at a hotel. He is such a lovely, helpful person and always had the biggest smile on his face. He really is a credit to the hotel. The location is also perfect, with lots of lovely restaurants, the beach and a supermarket all within walking distance. We also really enjoyed the live music on Monday evening. It’s clear that the staff genuinely care about making every guest feel special, and they work so brilliantly together to create such a wonderful experience. We absolutely loved our stay at Petra Nera and are already hoping to return next year and see all those familiar, friendly faces again. Thank you for making our holiday so special! 🤍"

"We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel and would definitely return. The location is perfect, with amazing views over the port. Sitting on the balcony watching the boats, people and planes was just wonderful! The rooms were cleaned every day, the breakfasts were lovely, and the hotel is beautifully decorated with a really welcoming feel. Although there isn’t a pool, this wasn’t a problem for us as we found a lovely local pool bar near the airport. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel. "What a little gem Villa Christina is. My first visit to Skiathos and it definatley wont be my last. Villa Christina has to be the most tranquil accomodation I have ever stayed at. No noise around the pool, the few children that were there were all very well behaved, no running or splashing in the pool hence the tranquility. The owners were beyond welcoming and they work so very hard to make sure every guest has everything they need. The service is outstanding and very personable with all names remembered as though you are their personal friends. The location is away from the busier areas of the island set within woodland so those less mobile would benefit from a car but dont let this put you off as this place is very special. Even when full, 93 guests, it never feels busy as guests come and go to some of the wonderful beaches in the location and further afield. If you want a truly family run villa in a glorious setting Villa Christina is a must. The rooms are spacious and clean and the grounds are just beautiful. The food in the restaurant is wonderful and plentiful, we never able to finish a dish! A huge mention for Elena who works so very very hard. Thank you Villa Christina for a very relaxing stay."

"Myself (27) and my mom decided to do a mother daughter trip to SKiathos and stay in this lovely hotel! Cannot fault the staff at this hotel. Everyone so friendly welcoming and helpful. Especially the reception staff. Any question and they’ll happily help. We want helped booking trips/restaurants and general recommendations! They were more than happy to help and even book the trips via there phones etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Evgenia as she was so lovely and helpful. If we had to say something for a potentially improvement, we would say that the beer/lager is served in only 1 option size. We often wanted a smaller size or even a bottle option such as Mythos. We happily drank the larger 1 size option (when on holiday 😉) but even then it was served in a warm/normal temperature glass. Now I’m only saying this because it is a 5 star small hotel and most beach restaurants serve them in cool frozen glasses so I guess we were spoilt and wanted the same service from the hotel. Breakfast was 10/10 (I’d like to have seen hash browns but not the end of the world) and food in general 10/10. Everything else such as cleanliness service, entertainment etc 10/10! Would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone looking to staying in Skiathos without a shadow of a doubt! :)"

"Just returned from a week at Mystery Suites. Had a lovely holiday but surprised by the extremely good reviews that the hotel receives. On arrival we couldn’t get into our room until 3 pm which was a little frustrating and isn’t what we’ve been used to when on a package holiday. Breakfast is very basic and as mentioned by other people is orange squash not fresh orange juice. There is one coffee machine that is very temperamental and only fills half a cup. I noticed that another guest asked for a pot of tea so I did the same and was told they only have 1 pot. We had paid for half board and were told when we checked in we would be eating in the à la carte restaurant. When we went down for our meal we were presented with a sheet and told we could choose x 1 salad between 2 x 1 starter between 2 and a main each. The mains were a choice of 5 including burger and chips and chicken and chips. Not very Greek. There is a serious issue with sun bed and umbrella situation. It is not surprising that people don’t really stay by the pool as there are not enough beds or umbrellas for the amount of guests in the hotel. My husband and I also had a room with a hot tub but after the first couple of days couldn’t use it as he got a rash from the amount of chlorine in the tub. The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and the rooms are cleaned extremely well but the other issues I have mentioned would stop me returning."

"Second visit to this hotel. Great location & lovely hotel but not a 5 star. Rooms cleaned very well everyday. Umbrellas on the beach need replacing , the rattan is worn out so difficulty to get shade. Had 2 lunches there but was very disappointed so ate elsewhere. Had a chicken Caesar salad one day but couldn’t find the chicken & hardly any tuna in the tuna salad full of tomato. Very mean for the price charged. There is better food served in the nearby tavernas & beach bars. They have stopped giving nuts or snacks when you buy a drink very mean for a 5 star. The breakfast is good but think they should cook eggs fresh to order & get rid of that silly pancake making machine. Was told we couldn’t eat our own crisps or fruit on the beach which we felt was unfair as we were bed & breakfast. Don’t agree with the hotel renting beds to the general public after 1pm. As a guest you might come down at 2pm to find no beds available. The hotel need to stop this practice and put up signs to inform the public. We have already booked for next year with our friends as the hotel & location is lovely and we had a brilliant holiday and will always return. Our complaints are intended to be positive criticisms to help improve the service. Many returning guests that we spoke to during our stay were saying the same as us."

"The positives: Fabulous position with stunning views. Close to two lovely beaches. Nice rooftop restaurant / bar serving great breakfast and meals all day. Anna and Lucas and their small team on the rooftop were friendly and did a great job. The Negatives: Our room was horrible. Shower flooded the bathroom as it didn't drain properly. I slipped on the wet floor hurting my back. I reported to reception. Maintenance came but never fixed the problem. At checkout the receptionist asked me if the problem had been fixed !!! No mirror in bedroom. No smoke alarm ( legal requirement) no safety notice in case of fire etc ( legal requirement). Wires protuding from ceiling in bathroom and bedroom where lights should have been. Poor quality ( stiff and like sandpaper) sheets and bedding that were too small for the bed. Room overall very dirty. Floor not swept or washed once while we were there. Empty paint tins and rubbish pushed in bushes by footpath. At checkout I spoke to the owner and told him my concerns. He was very rude to me and effectively called me a liar just trying to be negative. Told me if I don't like it don't stay here !!!! I questioned his as to why he never responds to messages on Tripadvisor and he said he doesn't need to as he doesn't care what people think !!! Unbelievable. Definitely NOT a 5*. Its a pity that the owner is so arrogant and knows that people will stay there because of location even though it is a poor quality hotel."
