We arrived very late due to traffic delays but kept in touch with Liz by text who was more than accommodating and recommended a local pub to eat en route. A beautifully appointed room, easy parking and a fabulous breakfast. A great stopover before our ongoing journey to Cornwall. Thank you Liz!"

Winchester Arms

"Unpretentious and welcoming local pub. Mine Host Patrick is friendly and spares the time for a chat. Charlton and Dartford FC fans are especially welcome ! Beer garden is lovely in the summer months. The food is generally basic but very tasty. Overal this is an excellent pub well worth visiting."

"A comfortable, tastefully decorated room. The staff were polite and friendly. The food was delicious and of an exceptionally high standard. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast (sourdough and smashed avocado etc) which was fresh and generous. I will definitely stay again when in the area."

The Greyhound Inn

"I'm a fussy bugger and I was very happy with the evening I had there. Food is slightly more expensive than it should be, People pay £34 for a steak, seriously? Still I had the pork belly and very nice it was indeed although again £24 is a bit OTT. I cannot deny it was very enjoyable well cooked with a decent sauce. Observations given the price. The mashed potato was beautifully done, The sauce was very tasteful although very thin and as such could have done with more of it, The gravy boat had no handle and was almost impossible to touch because of the heat, yeah it looked neat but function defines form yes? The vegetables were tiny but again pleasantly cooked if a mite bland, I needed something else to give a bit of texture. Might I strongly strongly suggest you consider all the possibilities a decent sized piece of black pudding has to offer to accompany. The presentation was just piled up, that needs work. But yes the star of the show was the pork and that was gorgeous and as a large man sufficient in quantity which is rare for me. It was good enough that I wanted to take the time to recommend it here. Still again for the price, more gravy a few more veg and a decent crispy slice of black pudding nom nom. My friend had the venison chorizo burger, But spent his meal looking at mine."

Notley Arms Inn Exmoor National Park

"On arrival we were met by Caroline and Simon who both were very friendly and made us feel very welcome!! We were shown to room 3 which was homely and comfortable. We then took a lovely cold beer out into the garden to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. We ate dinner both nights if our stay, the food was very plentiful and delicious! The breakfast was also very tasty and well presented. We had an amazing time and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts to ensure you had a pleasant stay. We are looking forward to our next visit!"

Greenham Hall

"Greenham Hall is an excellent place in a beautiful countryside setting. Rooms were clean, comfortable and had great views. The gardens and the restored victorian house are delightful. Caro, the hostess, is lovely. She was very helpful and kind throughout and went out of the way to make us feel at home.The breakfast was homemade and delicious. Highly recommended and thank you Caro for a wonderful stay!"
