"Got to our booking and the bed wasn’t changed over + dirty wet towel on the bed. We called the helpline number (it’s a smart hotel) and a hotel assistant came to help us and thankfully had another room to put us in. I had initially requested a quiet room but we were kept up late from loud bass music in the building. The hotel was meant to be smoke free but you could definitely tell that guests had smoked in the hallway as it stunk. The best part of this experience was the complimentary breakfast, although I didn’t use this bonus as I wanted to leave asap!"

"This motel is very clean with large rooms. The owner was very friendly upon check in and when we had a question about the heat he responded immediately. The only drawback is that there are no dine in restaurants within walking distance. There is a small take out Chinese restaurant close which seemed a bit odd the way it was run, but the food we had was really good."

"The room was spacious, bright, clean and tidy. The small kitchen had basic cooking utensils. There was a convenient parking space right outside the door on the first floor. The room also had a balcony garden, making it feel like a warm and cozy home."

"Just a reminder the reception will close at 8pm. Booked a lot of hotels during the whole journey so didn’t read the booking details carefully and didn’t realize the reception closed at 8pm. So we need to call the hotel when arrived. Location is good. Facility is good. Basically got everything we need. A simple kitchen is included."

"Nice clean rooms our one had a view over the Caroline Bay seafront. Managers lovely plus their wee mates who also greeted us on arrival. Very central to the township and a stone throw from the Caroline Bay amazement park. Value for money if in town call in. "
The Coast Motel
"We stayed at The Coast Motel in Timaru. Although the place was clean and the hosts friendly this place has some serious health and hygiene issues. The worst issue was that the strange shower system would go scalding hot if you changed the setting or turned it off. We ended up having cold showers to be safe..This would be a disaster for people with young children. The hygiene issue was having to wash dishes in the hand basin. This is so Tapu. We left our dirty dishes expecting them to be exchanged for clean ones. They weren't. There was also some dodgy wiring cover in insulation tape. Would certainly NOT recommend this place."
