Tzaneen Country Lodge ★★★★
"the Location was great and the restaurant staff were friendly and provided us good service, which is unfortunately the two positive parts of our stay. when we arrive, the reception experience was very poor. No Information was given about the lodge or breakfast until I asked, and we were not even accompanied to our room. The condition of the room was disappointing. The shower and floors were dirty to the point where you could not shower without wearing flip flops. Housekeeping was also below standard. During our 2-night stay, the room was not properly cleaned, the bins were not emptied, dishes were not washed properly and both the bathroom and floors remained dirty. Only the beds were made. This was a very disappointing experience."
Sherwood's Country House ★★★★
"I was extremely disappointed with the reception I received. When I arrived, the man at reception did not greet me with a smile or even a friendly manner. He bearly glanced at me, gave me a paper to complete my details, and ignored me from there. The lady showed me my room and gave me n slip with the Wi-Fi password. They did not provide any details about breakfast or if and where it is available, even though you pay for bed and breakfast. The room, even though beautiful, only had a ceiling fan in the seating area and nothing near the bed, and it was extremely hot. No windows to open, only a door leading to the veranda. I will not stay there again"
Fairview Hotels,Spa & Golf Resort ★★★
"We had a fabulous time staying at the hotel. Definitely doing it again with family and friends for the holidays."
Georges Valley Lodge
"neat accommodation. Water pressure was a problem in the shower. No toiletries in the bathroom., soap, shampoo and conditioner, and body lotion"
Magoebaskloof Hotel ★★★
" Magoebaskloof Hotel is set in one of the most breathtaking locations – the views of the valley are absolutely incredible and really make the stay special. The staff were truly exceptional too – warm, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. That said, the rooms are a bit tired and could be cleaner. The bathrooms are quite dated and would really benefit from a revamp. Small touches – like matching taps, a TV that’s properly aligned, and milk for coffee that isn’t rock solid – would go a long way in improving the overall experience. The restaurant menu is quite limited, especially if you're vegetarian or gluten-free. The breakfast buffet has a good spread, but it’s pricey, and unfortunately, there’s no alternative breakfast option. For someone who is gluten-free, paying full price for just fruit and grated cheese doesn’t feel great value. All in all, the views and the staff make it a memorable stay, but with a few upgrades and more inclusive food options, it could be truly fantastic. "
Magoebaskloof Mountain Lodge ★★
"The place was nice and quiet and really enjoyed the food there. Workers at the reception were very welcoming. Good people I can say. The only thing that does not make me tick all boxes was the smell and the bugs that kept falling from the roof. The smell seems to be fungi that is not treated properly or regularly. It originated from the cabins and the waldrope. Otherwise, I loved the place. But not sure of going back because of that smell...I can tolarate the bugs but that smell was a big no. "
Hotel @ Tzaneen ★★★
"Had a lovely time with our little princess, it's is always a great pleasure being there, staff are way too friendly, we got a ground floor room made very easy for us because we a baby with us. Very nice place, many thanks as always keep the great work "
La Barune Guest House ★★★★
"The host Natalie was amazing, she treated us like we are her family,I loved everything about La Barune Guest House and Il definitely go bk again for either or pleasure."
Kings Walden Garden Manor ★★★★
"Having tracked the history and story behind Kings Walden over the years, when we decided to spend some time in Magoebaskloof, KW was the natural choice, and a GOOD decision! Hannes and Marike, returning to SA from the Netherlands, courageously and lovingly took on the challenge of reimagining and restoring the guesthouse and classic gardens about a year ago. The house and accommodation have been tastefully and comfortably furnished, with a muted, classy style. Just the right amount of luxury. No clutter. The pool area and gardens are peqceful and beautiful. The extended gardens will be a work in progress over the coming years, I suspect it will take time as gardening does! The backdrop for KW is a magnificent, dynamic vista overlooking the valley, changing with the mist and shifting light. Our dining experience was good. We, together with our children, enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners. Butter chicken curry was a highlight, morning fruit and granola pots nicely prepared. We are quite fussy and we can’t think of any way to improve our meals. For us, the chef seems to be striking the right balance: simple fare done very well. Not getting too fancy such that the basics go wrong. Eg steak requested medium rare, is perfectly medium rare. Then the wonderful staff! Mathimba, Walter and Portia looked after us so well. Always around and available and NOTHING too much to ask. When we even just THOUGHT about swimming then they would appear with towels!! Just a lovely team. Thank you to each individual involved especially those we didnt meet who are making things happen behind the scenes. We look forward to KW rising to wonderful success in the hospitality industry - if you flourish, we do too "
