Alpine View Lodge ★★★★
"This property was not what we expected and is not worth the price paid. After trying to contact the owner/reception multiple times via phone, message and visiting the reception at check-in, we made the difficult decision to stay else due the accomodation being poor and disappointing. The owner is not pleasant or understanding to deal with once we finally got a response from them (after booking somewhere else - 2.5 hours after check-in). Driving into the property, you first see a shed/storage area full of clutter (as per photo). Walking into the room (Cardrona split level studio), the first thing we saw was a rusty old air con sitting outside (as per photo). There was also green electrical tape covering a switch (as per photo). The shower head was held up with hair tie. We are deeply disappointed by this accomodation. We would not recommend it to anyone wishing for an ‘alphine view’ stay."
Adventure Wanaka Hostel ★★★
"Great location, close to food truck and supermarket, and the heat pump really works"
Aspiring Lodge Motel ★★★
"Located on a city street, with various shops nearby. The front desk is staffed from 2 PM onwards. It's a 3-minute walk to Lake Wanaka, and about a 25-minute leisurely stroll to the Lone Tree. Enjoying the natural scenery along the way in the early morning is very pleasant and comfortable. If you want to stargaze at night, even walking to the nearby lake, you'll still be affected by the brightness of the streetlights. It's next to a large supermarket and a 5-minute walk to the food truck park, making it convenient for finding food. There are fewer parking spaces than rooms, so if the lot is full upon arrival, you'll need to park in a nearby park, and be mindful of the paid parking hours. The room has a sofa, a full dining table and chairs, a bar, and a basic kitchenette. However, the pot had food residue, which made us question the overall cleanliness of the utensils and made us hesitant to use them. The fixed showerhead in the bathroom was a bit inconvenient, and the room's brightness was dimmer than shown in the photos."
Oakridge Resort Lake Wanaka ★★★★
"This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very clean. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The facilities were well maintained."
Haka House Wanaka ★★★★
"Wanaka itself isn't a big place, and Haka is considered one of the higher-quality hostels, plus it's very close to the town center. Even during holidays, the cleanliness is consistently good. Unlike the Haka in Queenstown, perhaps because there's more space here, the accommodations are individual buildings, whereas in Queenstown, the entire second floor is dorm rooms. However, there's a gravel path leading up to this Haka, which will definitely test your suitcase wheels! Overall, it's pretty good. You can walk right out to stargaze at night and then quickly hop back into bed."
Hampshire Holiday Parks – Wanaka ★★★
"The cabin is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and really comfortable! The views are amazing from the cabin windows - we were blown away and didn’t want to leave!!"
Edgewater Hotel ★★★★
"The hotel boasts an excellent location, within walking distance of the famous 'Lonely Tree,' 'God Tree,' and the town center. The views from the room's window are simply stunning – truly a hotel for life! The facilities are comprehensive, including kitchenware, a washing machine, and a dryer. The room was spotlessly clean, and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly. They also offer services like bicycle rentals. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, it was perfectly acceptable. Overall, this was the best hotel we stayed at during our New Zealand trip, and I would definitely choose to stay here again."
Archway Motels & Chalets ★★★★
"Extremely satisfied! The family room had one king bed and two twin beds, with two separate rooms so everyone could sleep comfortably without disturbing each other. There was a heater inside and air conditioning outside. The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils and dishwashing tools, so we could cook our own meals. The front desk offered midday service where we could borrow cooking oil and salt, which was perfect for a self-drive trip. The hotel itself felt like a small park – very quiet with nice views and easy to find. If I visit Wanaka again, I would definitely consider staying here. Full marks! A special thanks to the front desk lady who lent us oil and salt! We were a bit rushed at check-out time, and she even helped us extend our check-out by a little bit, haha. Absolutely wonderful!"
Manuka Crescent Motel ★★★
"Everything is good, house is warm Very special house, worth a try"

West Meadows of Wanaka
"Everything about this hotel was perfect. Great location, friendly staff, value-for-money, and clean, well-designed and well-maintained rooms. Highly recommended."
Wanaka View Motel
"We stayed in Chalet 1 which is a 3 bedroom apartment. Very comfortable and everything you need for a family. Apartment was clean and bedding was very comfortable. Thank you to Pip who gave us recommendations for things to do in Wanaka and restaurant recommendations. She is very knowledgeable about the South Island as a whole. Our plans changed due to a road closure and an extra night was needed and organised with ease. The views are stunning from this motel! In front of the motel is a park and the picture perfect lake. A lovely sight to see! "
Mishika Retreat and Lodge
"Where do I even begin? Mishika Retreat in Wanaka completely exceeded every expectation we had for a family getaway. From the moment we arrived, the stunning backdrop of the Southern Alps and the crystal-clear waters of Lake Wanaka made us feel like we'd stepped into a postcard. The Accommodation was spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed with families in mind. Plenty of room for everyone, beautiful furnishings, and those mountain views from the windows never got old — even after several mornings waking up to them! The Staff were exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They went out of their way to make our family feel at home, from helping us plan day trips to arranging little surprises for the kids. That personal touch made all the difference. Activities & Location — being based in Wanaka means you're spoiled for choice. The retreat made it easy to explore everything the region has to offer, and we came back each evening to a peaceful, relaxing environment that felt like a true sanctuary. For Families, this place is a 10 out of 10. The kids were happy, the adults were relaxed, and that combination is honestly hard to find. We didn't want to leave. Mishika Retreat Wanaka is the kind of place that stays with you long after you've checked out. We are already talking about coming back next year. Highly, highly recommended. Don't think twice — just book it."

Club Wyndham Wanaka, Trademark Collection by Wyndham
"Very pleasant hotel. The rooms are spacious. Free laundry facility. A good starting point for the Roy's Peak hike."
Clearbrook Motel & Serviced Apartments
"Location: Not by the lake, but very close to the food truck area, just around the corner. Popular slow-cooked beef and lamb, and bagels are all within a two- or three-minute walk. Walk along the road in front, passing various shops, and you'll reach the lake in ten minutes – very convenient. A small stream flows in front, and ducks roam the lawn. All rooms have balconies, and the ground floor is a lawn. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings. Children love this accommodation. Parking is allocated by room number and is ample. The front desk has closing hours; please contact them in advance if you are arriving late."
Wanaka Luxury Apartments
"A fantastic apartment with two master bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen downstairs – very convenient. The apartment is very close to Wānaka Lake, and the surrounding area offers excellent amenities, making it ideal for road trips. Highly recommended!"
Marina Terrace Apartments, Wanaka
"My husband and I were in Wanaka for 2 nites, and I almost didn't book this because there were so few reviews. Marine Terrace was absolutely gorgeous. We wanted to move in there! Place was new, spotless and immaculately clean! Plus a gorgeous view over the lake, and a 5 minute walk to town. We had an issue with the washer, my husband texted them around midnite, and they immediately responded with the fix. I can't recommend enough - we had booked the 2 bedrm, 2 bath unit. Can't wait to go back!!"
