We actually booked a room in the Huangjia Garden Villa District, not the Binhai Store. The house in the villa district is a little above the Binhai Store, and you can also go up the slope of the Mayouhan Stadium. It is very close to the lively Longtou Road, Shuzhuang Garden and Sunlight Rock, but because it is not open to visitors except for guests staying in the hotel, it retains a quiet atmosphere. You can check in directly at the gatehouse at the entrance, and you can see the introduction at the door. These houses in the villa district are where the overseas Chinese entrepreneur Huang Yi lived when he returned to China and settled in Gulangyu Island in 1919. A total of three buildings were rebuilt the following year. Only the South Building and the North Building were open as guest rooms. We stayed in the room in the North Building. I must say that the service is very good. They contacted us one day in advance and added WeChat to inform us of the route after arriving on the island. When we checked in, a thin guy named Li helped us carry our luggage upstairs (there are many stairs on the island, especially in historical buildings like this, and it is impossible to install an elevator).
