Hotel location was super close to food and shopping. Room was also clean and spacious. Staff was very helpful in providing info on how to take shuttle bus to airport, which was nearby, and allowed us to stored our luggage after check out. One of the best rooms I stayed at on my trip
Being a luxury transit hotel, Portom really nailed it. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with such attentive service. Special shout-out to a young lady named Miss 吳, who helped us with check-in and gave us a quick room tour. She was so observant and attentive—even without us asking. You can really feel her sense of ownership and professionalism in the way she handles her job. Soft-spoken, gentle, yet clear and firm in her role. She was so good that I felt I had to write this review for her!
Other than that, the hotel impressed me in so many ways. It’s beautifully designed, with lots of thoughtful details everywhere. I really enjoyed both the software and hardware. I’d definitely come back again, and I’d happily recommend it to others.
This hotel is truly a piece of art. every detail feels so well-thought-out!
Our stay at Cross Hotel Sapporo was nothing short of amazing! We are a group of 5 & were traveling around Hokkaido, starting & ending off in Sapporo. We emailed the hotel to request if they could store some luggage for us till we return, as well as help us with restaurant reservations, and the staff were super prompt & extremely nice to accede to our requests. We even got upgraded to bigger rooms when we returned! We always felt so welcomed by the staff who were very attentive & so willing to help us. Needless to say rooms were very comfortable & onsen was great too (equipped with Dyson hairdryers). Location is also good, accessible via an underground passage all the way from the Sapporo station to Marumi Coffee Stand (so convenient cos it was raining when we arrived). Thank you so much for the great experience, I will gladly return to Cross Hotel!
Great value for money! It's right next to the JR station, making it super convenient for getting to the airport and downtown Sapporo. The POLA toiletries provided by the hotel are really good. Just note that daily room cleaning requires a reservation.

I love the Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo; it's a peaceful oasis in a lively area, and everything about it was excellent. It's just a 15-minute walk to Tanukikoji shopping street, making the daily round trip a pleasant stroll. The breakfast spread was generous and offered a wide variety of choices. My son is young but quite tall for his age, and he sometimes worries about being questioned about his age; here, they thoughtfully provided children's meal cards. Our suite was incredibly spacious, and having two separate bathrooms was incredibly convenient. The overall decor was also lovely. We consistently opt for eco-friendly practices by not requesting frequent linen changes at hotels worldwide, and here, they even offered afternoon tea and snacks as an extra incentive for doing so.
Excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers visiting Hakodate! convenient location - easy to get around, with a short walk to the tram station. The tram connects you to many popular attractions around the city. Plus, the airport transfer bus stop is just a stone's throw away, with affordable fares to New Chitose Airport (13,000 yen). We also discovered a lovely 2nd-generation ice cream parlor right opposite the bus stop! The hotel's breakfast was impressive and delicious. Overall, the hotel offers great value for its price. We had a family room with excellent view for sunrise 🌅.
My room on the 22nd floor offered fantastic views; I was even lucky enough to witness a blood moon. In the evenings, I found dining options to be scarce if heading towards the TV Tower. However, if you turn left upon exiting the hotel, you'll discover many fantastic eateries, especially Nemuro Hanamaru Sushi, which is absolutely worth queuing for. Peking University is approximately 2 km away, and a Didi International ride cost 65 RMB. There's also a small convenience store to the left of the hotel that sells packaged bananas.
Excellent hotel. The rooftop infinity pool, hot spring, terrace bath, sea breeze, and Hakodate night view were incredibly relaxing. I used the baths both in the evening and in the morning. There's a scenic bar lounge that offers coffee. The room had a private washer/dryer and a microwave. The breakfast offered was great value, allowing you to choose a restaurant at the adjacent seafood market. However, I didn't opt for it because I wanted to try catching squid and grilling it, and also having crab shabu-shabu – this morning market is truly the best for seafood. Disposable slippers were provided, which many Japanese hotels don't offer.
Location: Right next to the JR Sapporo Station East Exit, with clear directions leading the way. The front desk is on the 1st floor. The hot spring is on the 22nd floor (2150 JPY extra if not included in the room rate), guest rooms start from the 23rd floor, and the breakfast restaurant is on the 35th floor.
Facilities: The hot spring offers a 41℃ pool, a 37℃ bubbling pool, a mist sauna, a dry sauna, and spa services that can be booked. After your soak, there's a relaxation lounge nearby with free popsicles (the Hokkaido milk flavor is delicious!). Milk is available from 6 PM.
There's no self-service laundry. If you need laundry done, there are bags and a form in the drawer. Fill it out and call the housekeeper for pickup. The multi-functional electronic clock by the bed has two buttons: one for room cleaning and one for 'do not disturb'. Pressing them will light up an indicator outside your door, or you can hang the 'do not disturb' sign from the drawer on the door.
Breakfast was decent; I chose the set meal both days. Rice and miso soup are refillable for free.
My mom and I recently stayed at La Vista Hakodate Bay and were absolutely delighted! The hotel's location is fantastic, very close to the Red Brick Warehouses and the waterfront, offering beautiful night views. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was so soft we slept wonderfully. The breakfast was the biggest surprise – a wide variety of options, and the seafood rice bowl was incredibly delicious! The staff were all very friendly and made sure we had a very pleasant stay. The rooftop onsen was also amazing; we could enjoy the night scenery while soaking in the hot spring. My mom loved it, and we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Hakodate!

MM11177****This was the hotel I was most looking forward to on my Hokkaido trip. The hotel offers a very convenient shuttle service. We booked a private onsen room, which was very spacious and even came with a massage chair. The kids had a blast playing in the room while the adults were glued to the massage chair! Soaking in the hot spring while watching the snowy scenery is definitely one of life's greatest pleasures, and the views of Lake Shikotsu are also stunning. We had so much fun playing in the snow. The roasted marshmallows in the hotel lobby every night were a big hit with the kids, and the desserts at the hotel were exquisite and delicious. Plus, there was a special main course prepared for children at dinner every day. There are also some nice little shops nearby with great food; the owner of the grilled fish restaurant even lent us a skateboard to play with!

MM236470****The facilities are quite old, and for the price, there's no lake view, just a street view that's not aesthetically pleasing at all. There are no facilities for families with children. The first floor is full of shops, which feels very commercialized.
Most importantly, there are too many rules, and the staff are inflexible. Check-in time is rigid, they start clearing up before the mealtime is even over, and you have to move your car out of the parking lot by 11:30 AM after check-out. It doesn't feel like they're willing to make any concessions for guests.

SSze Wing JannyThe Windsor Hotel at Toya may boast its status as a premier 5-star luxury destination and its historic role as host of the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, but our recent stay fell far short of expectations.
Despite the grandeur of the location and its breathtaking views, the service quality was surprisingly poor for a hotel of this caliber. English communication was inconsistent and below the standard expected at an international luxury property. Housekeeping was careless—leaving a used cleaning towel on the bed after daily room service, which is simply unacceptable.
When I drove to the main entrance to pick up my family, I was abruptly asked to leave immediately, even though only a few cars were present. This lack of hospitality was jarring. Additionally, being charged for extra bottled water—something even 3-star hotels offer complimentary—felt petty and out of touch with luxury norms.
The most troubling experience came during checkout. Two of our international credit cards failed to process, and although we successfully paid with a third, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional. We were met with a sour expression and the word “FINALLY” once the transaction went through—an unacceptable remark that left a lasting negative impression.
While the hotel’s setting is undeniably beautiful, the overall service and treatment we received did not reflect the standards of a true 5-star experience. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve both staff training and guest relations.
GGuest UserWe had booked total 7 rooms. Beginning from check in we had impressed how nice and friendly the counter lady, full of smile and patience. We come here by driving so not very sure about surroundings and public transportation. The hotel very clean and nice, so suddenly we all dun want go out, we just stay hotel, and feel 1 night not enough, Thank you.
CChee MunNice Onsen resort and we like the private Onsen inside the room. The room is huge but it will be great if it has international channels or even Netflix or YouTube. It provides transport to Sapporo so that is great. Nice free drinks and snacks at night.
GGuest UserWe arrived after dinner time and the parking lot is full. No concierge or service staff to direct us where to park. Didn't have time to enjoy other service as well coz of a short stay. The room is reasonably comfy, but not so reasonably priced if you are not planning a longer stay to enjoy onsen and such.
3300397****This is a somewhat older, traditional Japanese-style hotel. The lobby boasts grand and beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning lake views. The lower level offers a wide range of entertainment facilities and good drinks. However, the rooms and facilities are a bit dated. The majority of guests are Japanese families. The restaurant provides excellent lake views. Breakfast and dinner were decent but nothing to write home about. Given the limited dining options around Lake Toya, eating at the hotel is the most hassle-free choice.
