Stayed at Hotel Mokozoyo recently and had a really pleasant experience overall.
I requested a quiet room after reading about potential noise from the main road and surrounding areas, and I’m glad that was accommodated — it made the stay much more comfortable.
The room itself has a nice, well-organised layout with a clean and modern feel. The hotel’s design really stands out, especially the stylish raw-concrete aesthetic, which gives it a minimalist yet very polished vibe. Cleanliness throughout the property was also excellent.
What makes it even better is the location — being right in the heart of George Town means unbeatable walkability to local food streets, cafés, and major attractions, which made exploring extremely convenient.
Overall, a well-designed boutique stay with great location, solid comfort, and thoughtful room arrangements.
My family and I recently enjoyed a stay at Angsana Teluk Bahang and found it to be the perfect choice for a relaxing staycation. Located on the quieter side of Penang, the resort is about 40–50 minutes from George Town, which may feel a little far from the city centre, but that's exactly what makes it special.
If you're looking to escape the traffic, crowds, and bustle of town, Angsana offers a peaceful beachfront retreat with plenty of space to unwind. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with beautiful sea views, and the beach is not crowded at all.
The infinity pool overlooking the sea was a favourite spot for our family, especially in the evenings when the sunset painted the sky over the Straits of Malacca.
The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, helping to make the stay smooth and enjoyable from check-in to departure.
Although the resort feels secluded, it's still only a short drive from Batu Ferringhi if you want to explore local food, night markets, or nearby attractions. For us, however, the best part was simply slowing down and enjoying the calm surroundings.
Overall, Angsana Teluk Bahang is an excellent option for families seeking a relaxing beachfront staycation. While it is some distance from the city, the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sea views, and resort facilities make it well worth the trip, will definitely come again!
Had a fantastic stay! The room was spacious and very comfortable. The free parking was a huge bonus. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Unlike other hotels that offer a welcome drink, Sho Hotel provides a complimentary coffee/tea/orange juice every single day. If you stay for several days, you get several drinks – it's such a thoughtful touch! I'd redeem mine every morning before heading out, and the staff would put it in a to-go cup for me to take with me. Absolutely delightful! ❤️
Sho Hotel will definitely be my first choice next time I visit Penang!
The service apartment is new, but only 4 lift cater for 36 storey, waiting time take too long, we miss the facilities floor. The apartment doesn't come with free parking, carpark is chargeable RM9 per day stay at level 3 to level 10, the carpark ramp is very narrow. Room is clean, but bathroom shower water pressure is too low.
There is no sufficient space for guests drop off and pick up and for if there are two to three cars the area before hotel will be messed up and stuck together! The enclosed captured screen from goggle map is self explanatory !
Every morning commencing 8:00 am to 09:00am there will be large trolleys outside the rooms and on upper floors transferring towels and other amenities around and the sound like you are sitting by the railway while the trains are crossing which was rather annoying. You will hear staff talking or chatting together and the metallic service door slamming during that period.
Most interesting is every day the housekeeping has left souvenirs to us. The first day was a toilet brush and the second day was a cigarette lighter.
Last but not the least when we approached the concierge to get the luggages while the car was waiting just outside the hotel main door the bell boy asked my wife to move the luggages by herself and the distance was only 3 meters away!
Located in the heart of Penang, a bit far from the Old Town, but the living environment and surrounding amenities are excellent. The living conditions are much better than in the Old Town, and the area is very vibrant.
Recently we stayed at M Social Resort Penang and had a very enjoyable experience overall.
The cleanliness of the hotel was very good. The room was generally well-maintained and comfortable. However, there is still some room for improvement, as I noticed a few tiny bugs or insects on the wall, as well as some spots around the sliding door area and on the balcony floor.
The location is excellent, especially for those who enjoy beach activities. The hotel offers private beach access, which is very convenient and adds great value to the stay.
The service was outstanding throughout my visit. The bellboy team was very helpful and professional, the reception staff were friendly and efficient, and room service was prompt and reliable. The service standards across all departments deserve recognition.
The amenities provided were comprehensive and met all expectations. Everything needed for a comfortable stay was available.
The swimming pool was well-maintained and clean. I especially appreciated the dedicated children’s section, making it suitable for families.
The lobby is one of the highlights of the hotel. It is very clean, beautifully designed, and offers a fantastic view. The welcome drink provided before check-in was also a nice touch and created a great first impression.
Parking facilities were generally good. While basement parking is available, the number of spaces is somewhat limited. Open-air parking is also available and works well. However, access from the basement parking area to the lobby needs improvement. There appears to be no direct lift access, requiring guests to climb two to three levels of stairs, which can be inconvenient, especially when carrying luggage.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with a fluffy mattress and excellent pillows that provided a great night’s sleep.
One feature that truly impressed me was the AI Box system that replaces the traditional hotel room phone. Guests can use it to control the TV, request amenities, contact room service, housekeeping, and reception. This modern and innovative feature greatly enhanced the overall guest experience.
Overall, M Social Resort Penang offers excellent service, a great location with private beach access, comfortable rooms, modern technology, and a welcoming atmosphere. With minor improvements to room detailing and basement parking access, the experience would be even better.
I did a lot of research before deciding on Hotel Sentral Seaview by the Beach.
Most reviews weren’t favorable however I was willing to take a risk considering my last hotel was horrible.
Overall, I was surprised and it has exceeded my expectations. Having said that my expectations were pretty low!
Positives:
- Rooms were clean. The hardware of the hotel has undergone some major wear and tear. However, the hotel and room has undergone a fresh coat of paint. There is a faint smell of paint, but that for me wasn’t a negative.
- Initially in my room was facing the hotel next-door. On the same level I could see the security guards and the neighbor hotel walk back-and-forth. As a female guest, this made me feel super uncomfortable. I went downstairs and requested a room change. The response from the front desk was “Just close your curtains.” In the end I was changed to another room on the other side of the hotel facing the ocean.
- The view! Wow. Seeing and hearing the waves from the beach.. all the stress falls away! Because I was given this room, I made the decision to rebook another 2 nights at the hotel!
- Wi-Fi was strong.
- Hardly anyone using the pool, which made it really peaceful and quiet. Water is cool and clean. On the first day I was there the hotel were doing maintenance and cleaning of the pool area.
- The beach is quiet (not many people)
- and quite clean.
- Right in front of the hotel, few footsteps away is a huge food court with lots of variety of food. It’s fantastic. 10 min walk is Lotus Mall.
- There is a bus stop outside. Take 101 to go to Batu Ferringhi Beach.
- 200 m from the hotel is the Oceano Symphony cafe. Good food and drinks.
- Breakfast - was basic but ok.
- Staff are friendly and helpful!
Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives. I can understand that this hotel may not be the standard of a lot of international guests. But for peace, little crowds and sounds of the waves, in a quiet spot on the Penang island it’s been great.
Overall, it felt like staying in a very cozy old house. The room was a bit small, but we could still lay out two large suitcases flat. The hot water was a little tricky to control, but acceptable. The common areas had a lot of unique and well-maintained furniture and settings. When the sun was out, the light on the yellow exterior walls looked beautiful. During the day, we even saw tourists specifically coming into the courtyard to take photos. The breakfast selection wasn't huge, but it was refined, and I even got to try a mini Nasi Lemak. The location was very convenient for city walks around Penang. There was some street noise at night, but it usually died down after 10 PM. They even gave us a lovely set of postcards when we checked out.
It was my husband's ***** birthday on the day we checked in, so I had requested a simple room decoration beforehand. The hotel room staff told me they would fold two elephants out of towels, which I thought was already very thoughtful! Then, they even sent up a cake, which I really appreciated! These warm gestures made our Penang trip truly memorable. The room was clean and comfortable, and even though it was a little dated, it wasn't run-down. I was very satisfied with this experience and would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

Very Good
GGuest UserAbsolutely the best! From check-in to check-out, the service was truly exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with everything. During breakfast, there was a huge variety of delicious food – so much that I didn't know what to choose! The cleanliness was top-notch. There are plenty of great places nearby, and it's easy to find food. The 8th floor has a playground with lots of games for kids, so they won't get bored. Will definitely repeat again.

GGuest UserEnvironment: The hotel isn't very big, but it's small and exquisite, with direct beach access. There are three pools, two large and one small, with the smallest being a 0.5-meter kiddie pool, which is quite tiny. I booked a deluxe sea view room, but apparently, all rooms of this type have a side sea view. I'm not sure what makes it 'deluxe' – I really disliked it 👎. If a direct sea view is important to you, don't book this hotel.
Service: Everything else was pretty good, except for the Indian front desk lady at the Chinese restaurant.
Beware: If there's a private event, it will take over the best public areas of the hotel. Honestly, the thing I disliked most throughout my stay was that the 'sea view room' didn't have a proper sea view at all.

YyuleimorrisPros: Although the decor is a bit dated, the overall service and facilities are still up to par. The rooms in RaSa Wing are generally spacious, with a separate walk-in closet, and a large living room. The TV on the desk can be pulled out and rotated. There are also daily welcome snacks (dried fruits). For breakfast, you can choose the mainstream buffet at Garden Wing, or for a more unique experience, order à la carte at the RaSa restaurant on the second floor – their Hokkien Mee and Curry Mee are very authentic! The overall service level is also on point; you can take a shuttle from the concierge at the entrance to Golden Sands' swimming pool, and the staff are very friendly and greet you warmly. The overall facilities and service meet Shangri-La standards.
Cons:
1. The parent-child facilities are not extensive enough, not as good as many domestic hotels: Basically, only the pool is available for play. Even at Golden Sands' water park, there's only one small slide, and there's always a queue, so it's not particularly impressive. There is a kids' club, but it requires an extra fee (though not expensive). Other parent-child activities are limited and not available daily, and it feels like we didn't receive schedule notifications on the RaSa Wing side. The parent-child experience is a minus.
2. The Concierge informed me that RaSa Wing guests could order free soft drinks at the pool bar (including Golden Sands), but when I actually went to Golden Sands, I was told that RaSa Wing guests couldn't enjoy this benefit there.
3. The food options provided during Happy Hour are more Western-oriented, with very few Chinese dishes, and the taste is mediocre. It's fine to try it once on the first day, but don't have high expectations.
4. The beach has been eroded, which is a major drawback for a beachfront hotel to not have a beach.
Suggestions: You can walk to Batu Ferringhi beach; taking a taxi might get stuck in traffic. I don't recommend the durian stall at the RaSa Wing hotel entrance; instead, go to the durian stall at the Golden Sands entrance (only available at night), the quality is much better!
GGuest UserI arrived at the hotel an hour early, and even though check-in was officially at 3 PM, I was able to get into my room smoothly at 1 PM. The front desk staff were incredibly thoughtful and efficient – definitely a thumbs up! Overall, my stay was great. Just a small suggestion: there were some long hairs left on the bath towels in the room, so I hope housekeeping can pay more attention to detail cleaning in the future. I'll still choose to stay here again. I also tried the massage service at the hotel, which was pretty good.
