I paid a 400 JPY per person per night accommodation tax upon check-in. Check-in wasn't available until 2 PM, but check-out was conveniently done via machine. The room size was decent, with enough space for luggage. The bathroom had a step up, and the ventilation seemed a bit weak, making it feel stuffy while showering. The front desk mentioned a room upgrade, but the window view was blocked by another building. The bedside storage space was very small. The TV had international channels. The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station. If you turn left when you exit, there's a mall with shopping and dining options.

I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

Facilities: Well-equipped, spacious room with a cozy wooden design. Hygiene: Very clean, and the bathroom is large. Environment: Very close to the subway station, and the surrounding area is quiet. Service: Very welcoming, and they even gave us a small gift.

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. That day, I traveled all the way from Wakkanai after visiting Cape Soya, then flew from Chitose Airport to Osaka, and finally arrived in Kyoto. I was incredibly exhausted, both mentally and physically. Beyond the usual tea bags and shower gel found in Japanese hotels, this place offered premium amenities like bath salts. But the best part was that this hotel has a 'power on' system for the room key! This meant I could leave the room with my card, and the electricity wouldn't shut off! You could also tell the local environment was pretty good; the birds on the street weren't afraid of people at all. They'd walk right next to the sidewalk, and wouldn't fly away even when people passed by.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station: During autumn, they have a display in the lobby showing the fall foliage status of several temples, along with the day's weather. The rooms are decent, and it's not too far from Kyoto Station, but there's no public bath. You can pick up complimentary toiletries by the elevators. Staff greetings are a hit or miss. The biggest downside is breakfast; it's quite poor compared to other Mitsui hotels, with limited choices and average taste.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. It was clean and hygienic, and a taxi ride from Kyoto Station cost about 1500 yen. When I checked out, the Shijo branch helped transfer my luggage to the Mitsui Garden Hotel in front of Kyoto Station for only 500 yen. I had originally scheduled to pick up my luggage at 6 PM, but my plans changed, and I went to pick it up at 1:50 PM. The staff helped me with my bags and even asked if my kids and I were hungry, offering us a simple meal. That really touched my heart. Plus, the Mitsui Garden Hotel in front of Kyoto Station is so close to the station! I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Kyoto. The Shijo branch is also very convenient for taking buses to various attractions and is close to the central area.

A very standard Fresa Inn. If you're a member, you can check in at 2 PM and check out at 12 PM. The room is more than enough for one person, and all the amenities are provided. The staff's English is quite good, and they even have a handheld translation device. Exiting the hotel, turn right, and you'll find Exit 4 of Shijo Subway Station, with a very convenient elevator entrance. Turn left, and you're at Daimaru Department Store. To go to Osaka, you can take the Hankyu Railway directly, no need to go to Kyoto Station first. Fresa Inn is my favorite business hotel brand in Japan, highly recommended!

Hotel room size was the typical size of a room. It is ok for 1 Pax to stay in and a large size luggage can be opened. The room was generally clean. The breakfast was nice too with a mixture of both western and Japanese style breakfast. There are convenient stores nearby and eateries like MOS burger and walking distance to the bus stop and subway station.

This hotel is super convenient! It's just one stop from Kyoto Station on the E line, right next to the subway exit. **Facilities:** The room was very spacious, with a huge bed (over 2 meters!) that easily fit two adults and a child. There's also a public bath, which isn't huge but is very clean. The breakfast was okay, but I'm not a big fan of Japanese-style breakfasts. I mostly stuck to the bread, though the waffles and fried eggs were pretty good. **Service:** Excellent! My kids loved the train toys in the lobby, and the train-themed tableware at breakfast was a nice touch. We could easily walk to the Railway Museum and the aquarium without even crossing a road, and getting to Kyoto Station was a breeze.

Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto.  Location:  the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls.  Train stations within walking distance.  Hotel Facilities and Amenities:  this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit.  You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.   I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.   Hotel staff service:  cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out. Overall:  if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality,  I’d highly recommend this hotel.

GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).

XXingfudeyanyanI was extremely satisfied with my stay this time. The room was prepared exactly as I requested, which I really appreciated. My room included executive lounge access, offering snacks, drinks, coffee, tea, and alcohol – a great place to sit and relax. The room facilities were meticulously maintained, and all appliances were quiet. My only minor complaint was the hairdryer, which was a bit old-fashioned and took a long time to dry my hair. The hotel staff, including the front desk and shuttle service, were exceptionally professional, very considerate, and provided excellent, personalized service. The shuttle bus stop at Kyoto Station is located behind the station, near the Hachijo East Exit, in the area where taxis and buses pick up passengers. It runs conveniently from 8 AM to 8:30 PM. You can see the exact location in my last two photos.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

GGuest UserThis hotel boasts a quiet location, tucked away on a peaceful lane, yet it's only about a 10-minute walk to the bustling city center and many attractions, which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly and polite, and the room hygiene met standards. The hot spring was uncrowded and clean, both inside and out. The only thing that wasn't ideal was the hotel restaurant. I had dinner there once, the tempura set, and it was all tempura, which was quite greasy. The combination of dishes wasn't very healthy or refined. Other than that, I was very satisfied and would choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

GGuest UserTo start with the positives, the hotel was well located and easily accessible using the metro from Kyoto station. The room was a decent enough size and the staff were friendly and helpful. One major issue we encountered during our stay was the level of humidity in the room. The extractor fan didn't seem to be doing anything to impact moisture in the room, particularly after a warm shower. There was some treated glass above the sink and often this was the only area without moisture well over half an hour after having a shower. (Photos attached) This also meant that towels weren't drying correctly and created an unpleasant environment and ultimately odour in the room. The humidity was so high that the windows were dripping with water consistently and the window sill was actually wet. Additionally the absence of a full wardrobe (just a rail with hangers on) also created challenges when staying for longer than a couple of days and this combined with the humidity made the washing machine almost obsolete.

ГГряникThank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay with you! Your townhouse was very cozy and fully equipped. Comfortable house clothes, robes and slippers for any occasion (for the street, balcony, toilet and home) made our stay comfortable. The beds, although on the floor, were very comfortable. The mats felt nice and warm. The bathroom with wooden trim looks unusual and stylish. The small rock garden adds a nice accent. The Japanese-style breakfast was an interesting experience, especially the process of making soup yourself. The code entry on the door was very convenient. Thank you!

Llucky333This was the second hotel on our Japan trip, and it was excellent! The hotel is located directly across from Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit. Since we had a JR Pass, staying near the station made getting around much easier. **Facilities:** It's a self-check-in hotel. We paid the accommodation tax first. Next to the self-service machine, there were toiletries that you could take as needed. Although the room was small, it had everything you could want: a refrigerator, humidifier, TV, bathtub, and smart toilet. The room heating was strong, but you could adjust the temperature if it felt too stuffy. **Cleanliness:** It was clean. We stayed for three nights and didn't request housekeeping. They provided pajamas, and they were really nice! It's a shame that there's a shipping fee if you buy them from the official website. It would be great if the hotel front desk sold new ones. **Environment:** There's a 7-Eleven on the ground floor of the hotel. Guests can enter directly from the side of the lobby, and when returning, you can swipe your room card at the 7-Eleven to enter the lobby. This is great in cold weather as you don't need to go outside to visit the convenience store for food. The surrounding area has many shopping options, including Don Quijote, Aeon Mall, drugstores, and various eateries. There's even more inside the station! Isetan, Porta, Takashimaya. If you exit towards the Kyoto Theater, you can see Kyoto Tower. There's also a sightseeing bus to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and you can just use your Suica card. You can even walk to Yodobashi Camera. **Service:** The hotel staff were respectful and polite to guests. You can store your luggage after checking out. Our luggage was sent from our previous hotel, but if you want to send luggage to your next hotel, you have to arrange the courier yourself. It's very convenient to take the Shinkansen from Kyoto Station to Tokyo! This hotel is highly recommended, and I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto!

GGuest UserI've stayed at a few Keihan Group hotels, and they've all been great, but this Kyoto Station South hotel is particularly excellent. The Chinese-speaking front desk staff provided fantastic service during check-in, making me feel truly at home. I also got lucky this time; I arrived at 12 PM and was able to check in early. The daily breakfast is also incredible value for money; 1980 yen on its own isn't expensive at all, and it's an absolute steal when bundled with the room. The 11 AM check-out time is very reasonable, and the luggage storage facilities are excellent, making you feel very secure. However, the self-service lockers fill up quickly, so you often have to leave your bags with the staff. All the amenities are thoughtful and convenient. The only minor drawback is that the expensive hairdryer is too large, taking up space and being awkward to use in the small bathroom. In the afternoons, you can also enjoy complimentary coffee and drinks at the restaurant. The location is unbeatable; it's right across the street from Hachijo Exit, making shopping, dining, and public transport incredibly convenient. The bus to Kansai Airport is also nearby, which is much more comfortable than taking the train. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Kyoto.

AAnonymous UserThe biggest drawback was the size of the room for the price we paid. We could not even open our suitcases on the floor. There is no water in your room, you have to go downstairs to have a drink of water. Do not have breakfast there, it's too expensive (if you cannot eat everything) . There is a supermarket (LIFE) a few meters away with a very nice bakery. The hotel do however have all the toiletries available next to reception counter. Also coffee in the mornings from 6.30am with water and juice. A sauna and a hot pool, but you have to be in your *************. Not suitable for everyone. I enjoyed our bathroom the most, as the shower was amazing.

MMK4447The cleanliness was a minor letdown; there were a few strands of hair on the tatami mats. However, the staff's response and service were exceptional. They always smiled and communicated slowly, even with my broken English and translation app. There was even a staff member who spoke Korean. I didn't try the public bath, but I added the private bath, and it was perfect for washing away travel fatigue. It would be great for families or couples. I also ordered breakfast but unfortunately, I was too tired on the third day of my trip and slept through it. The location is fantastic – just a 3-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and it's tucked away in an alley, making it very quiet. If you want to experience a ryokan with a touch of luxury, I highly recommend it.
