"This is budget accomodation. In no particular order. Good Wi Fi, comfortable bed with a good mosquito net. Room ok size, as was the bathroom. No hot water. A stone throw from the beach and plenty of good quality restaraunts and cafes nearby. Of note was a good hand made jewellery shop, on the main road, which makes silver jewellery. Repairs can also be done at the same shop."

"Fawas runs an awesome surf camp at a beautiful part of Arugam Bay, right on the beach, next to the lagoon so you can watch the sunset and sunrise in the same day, also away from all the parties but close enough to walk to all the amenities. The Surf Instruction itself is the best in the area. You feel safe here, the food is awesome, rooms clean, cold and comfortable. If you're looking for a surf camp in Arugam Bay go to these guys."

Hotel Alaskabay Arugambay ★★★

"Great experience here with a group of 17 family members. Staff were super and did everything we asked of them. The lift was a little noisy as it stopped at each floor which was a bit irritating and when I reported it to management, they had the very next day a team of technicans call to the Hotel and sort it all, brilliant service. Thanks to Yuri and Haroon in particular for looking after us so diligently, a great team of people working in this Hotel!"

"We wanted to stay one night and on the end stayed 5 nights. What a little gem. We had a bungalow with seaview. The bungalow was very clean and spacious. Kovi the manager, was looking after his guests second to none, always checking that everything is to our satisfaction. The hotel is very well situated with direct access to the beach and close to the village. We highly can recommend this place."

"We(locals) booked this place as this is a beachfront hotel with good reviews. We booked 1 month in advance (25th Aug) & paid the total amount (USD80 for DBL B&B) as well. But less than 1 week from the day of arrival(28th Sep), they called & informed that they have mistakenly overbooked the hotel and can't accommodate us anymore. I find this highly suspicious as the booking is done via their website, which shows the availability of the rooms. Some hotels tend to do this when they receive a large group of tourists. They tend to cancel the local's booking to accommodate tourists when it was the locals who helped them during the pandemic & economic crisis. They suggested some of their own places as compensation, but those were subpar compared to this place, so we refused ( USD 30 : USD 80) Anyway, i would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are a local."

"The owner is a huge bluff and a liar. we stayed there for 3 days via booking. We did not receive a bill when paying and he canceled the booking when we were gone to put the booking money in his pocket. We also had to pay 25 euros in tax for 3 days. When we called him later, he kept disconnecting. Definitely not recommended!!!! Plenty of choice in the area"

"We had an amazing time thanks to our surf instructors and guides, Faines (Finn) and Ansar – both incredibly welcoming and full of local knowledge. They arranged surf lessons, showed us local wildlife, and even helped organize a safari. One of the highlights was a beach BBQ with freshly caught fish – unforgettable! The accommodation was simple but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay."
