"The location is very good, right in the city centre. Walking distance to attraction places and it only takes minutes. The only dislike thing about this place was we booked 2 rooms, our room is fine,but my parents room is super smelly, the carpet stink all over the room. The 4-star Golden Tulip Hotel De’Medici is located in this romantic city, on one of the most romantic canals of Bruges, only few minutes walking distance from the main Market Square. "Easily accessible from the train station by bus 2 (15-minute ride - you can pay with a credit card on the bus).
I recommend buying day tickets for €9 at the train station - this allows you to travel as often as you like throughout the day - buses every 10 minutes.
Generally: Hotel more like 3*, breakfast more like 2*
4* used to be 40 years ago - not much has changed in the hotel since then - patina everywhere (especially the Japanese garden)
There are only 3 floors - we had a view of the roof of the neighboring building.
Plus points:
Very spacious rooms, drinking fountain for tea making, e.g., in the lobby, refrigerator in the room.
Coffee at breakfast is usually a disaster in every hotel - however, there is a coffee machine that brews freshly and even has decaf beans - drinkable."

The room wasn't quite as big as previous stays, but it was clean and had everything we needed.
The hotel itself is beautiful, great service and the breakfast is one of the best I have ever had at a hotel.
Of course it's not a cheap stay, but for a 5* it's very well priced and I will definitely be returning again.
The only thing I would comment, which is a very particular observation by me, is that tge complimentary toiletries are not branded. It would be nice to have L'occitane, Molton Brown or Elemis especially in a 5*.But as I say, a very lovely hotel and it won't be my last stay

Ll3unnyAbsolutely looooooved this hotel! The room was huge, the king size bed was so comfy that I didn’t even wanna roll out of bed to have breakfast! I felt like a queen for a night but at an affordable price. Staff are all really nice and helpful. I’ll definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Bruges again. I’ll also recommend this hotel to everyone else.

MM250536****The room is clean and tidy, and the overall layout of the hotel is very comfortable. It has air conditioning and a bathtub. There is a courtyard inside the hotel. You can reach the main square within a two-minute walk outside. There is also a supermarket when you turn right when you go out. Knowing that this was my first time in Bruges, the guy at the front desk introduced the tour route in detail and was very enthusiastic!

- The rooms are outside of the main building. Dorms are large but it gets really hot and there's no AC or even fans. It's quite suffocating, even with the windows open (and there's a bar just next to it, so it can be nosy in the evening). Thankfully Belgium nights aren't too hot.
- Showers and toilets are in the same room, and shared for men and women, which can feel like a lack of privacy.
- No hairdryer or any amenities in the shower room.
Pros:
- Good location, 15min walk to the center.
- Beautiful restaurant inside the main building.
- Free earplugs

GGuest UserGreat location close to the centre but away from the noise. Front desk were friendly and I was able to store my bicycle, although a shame you have to pay extra for this. Bed was comfy and room has needed amenities. Breakfast options were a bit limited but well stocked considering how busy it got. I would stay here again if revisiting Bruges.
