Villa Madrina Lovely and Dynamic Hotel

Villa Madrina Lovely and Dynamic Hotel

📍 Via Paolo Veronese, 1, Garda Town
★★★★ 9.4 (59 reviews)

"Wonderful, helpful staff. Great variety on the food menu. Just 5 minutes walk down to the lakeside from the hotel. Not on top of the busy front but close enough to get there easily, making it a very relaxing and peaceful stay. Wonderful view of the lake from our room. "

"An excellent and comfortable hotel in a good position for access to the Lake. It’s very clean, good quality food, pleasant staff and we had a lovely room with balcony although not a view of the Lake."

Park Hotel Oasi

Park Hotel Oasi

📍 Via della Pace, 18, Garda Town
★★★★ 7.0 (28 reviews)

"Very disappointing. The hotel is very old fashioned and doesn't worth a 4 stars. The rooms were relatively small, and the bathrooms very outdated (cracks in the tiles, old shower faucets (risk for burns), mold in the showers, etc.) Asked at the reception to remove the mold, resulting in a discussion between the receptionist and the cleaning lady, after which the cleaning lady comes to our bathroom and starts cleaning the shower with... the toilet brush! When it is said that this is disgusting, we get the answer that the toilet brush will be replaced. :-( Furthermore, the tiles were broken on our terrace, we saw a hotel guest bringing a broken lamp where he was asked to replace himself and we regularly fell through the loungers around the pool. During our 10 days stay we were given the same menu from day 7 as the week before. Positive impression of the swimming pool, we couldn’t get our kids out of it, and very enthusiastic staff of the restaurant. The staff is doing a great job to keep this hotel open. Really, this hotel needs a make-over quickly. 4-stars is very overrated, you better go to the 4-stars hotel at the other side of the road. "

"Stayed here before Covid and were impressed so decided to revisit. We were not disappointed- the presentation and organisation in this hotel is exemplary. Staff could not have been more helpful . The grounds are beautifully maintained and in less than 5 minutes you can be sitting by the lake. Definitely worth another visit."

"Great stay from start to finish. 2 minutes walk from the lake, 5 minutes to the ferry terminal with lots of local shops, a supermarket and restaurants along the way. Room was on the small size but who wants to sit in their room when in Italy! Cleaned every day, safe and fridge in the room too plus tea and coffee; a bit more hanging space would be appreciated but a minor niggle. Good size bathroom with plenty of hot water. 3 star hotel so was a bit wary of the food quality but it was excellent; the pasta lady was amazing. Good choice with a couple of themed evenings thrown in. The restaurant staff were particularly organised and friendly which really makes a difference. You keep the same evening table for the week which we liked as none of that 'is anyone sitting here'? scenario. Pool area was quiet, towels provided with a pool bag too so some nice extra touches. We spent out time hopping on the ferry to different towns although the town next along to Garda is walkable (3KL) plus a day trip to the Dolomites. Overall, a great stay so thank you to all at La Perla."

📍 Via Don Luigi Sturzo, 5, Garda Town
★★★ 7.1 (46 reviews)

"The hotel could be good but from Day 1 it just got worse. The bedrooms need refreshing, holes in the bed bedsheets, flaking paint on the balcony, bathroom light fittings loose, air conditioning is a joke. Much of the paving around the swimming area is uneven or simply missing and not be replaced. Took 3 days to get air con fixed in my room…. Still not ideal as it works like a fan rather than cooling the room. On one night I sleep on the balcony and took my chance with the mosquitoes since the room was that hot. NOTE: Roomed do not have fridges as advertised! No room service either. Wi-Fi only works in reception"

Hotel Centrale

Hotel Centrale

📍 Via M. Abrile, 11, Garda Town
★★★★ 8.3 (21 reviews)

"We had 6 nights here as part of a Rail Discoveries tour. I doubt whether we'll travel with Rail Discoveries again as the train journey was much slower than expected and there were other issues. However we would stay at the Centrale again. The location was excellent, just a few minutes from the bus station, shops and beautiful sea front. All areas of the hotel were clean, comfortable , spacious and well maintained. We really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. All of the staff were so helpful and went over and above what we would have expected. "

"The location of the hotel is superb. Staff were very helpful and friendly from the minute we arrived until our departure. The breakfast selection was excellent and the lunch menu has a good variety too and very reasonable as were the drinks. The hotel pool was good and plenty of sun loungers to relax with a drink. The hotel offers some free excursions and have bikes for use. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the town/lake and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner."

Hotel du Parc Hotels in Garda Town

"A pretty disappointing experience overall. The property is very old and very n urgent need of renovation and repairs. Eg. Hot tub outside doesn’t work, ac was out of order, etc. The pictures they use to advertise are not reflective of the current state of the property. The staff are not very friendly and border on rude. We had dinner there and I am pretty sure the dessert was spoiled."

"Our second visit here, we really love this hotel, it’s in a fantastic position just a few minutes from the Lake and Ferry Point. The staff are amazing, very friendly and welcoming, and always ready to help when needed. Rooms are very well designed, modern, and even YouTube & Netflix available on the smart tv should you need them. Lovely pool area and terrace, sunbeds etc. Great choice for breakfast, perfect for ourselves, lots of fresh produce, and limited hot food as well. Garda itself has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, you will never go hungry here for sure. Last thing I have to say is a big thank you to Sara, Radu, Rosey, and everyone else who works there, whose names I have forgotten, you made our week memorable. See you soon for sure. "We recently spent 4 blissful nights at this fantastic hotel. It was our first time to Garda and we were totally blown away by this area. The hotel is situated about a 15-20 walk to the lake in a lovely peaceful area, yes its an uphill walk back from the Lake but so worth it. As soon as we stepped into the hotel and we were greeted by the very friendly Receptionist I knew we were somewhere very special, there was such a tranquil feel about the Hotel, it all seemed too perfect to be real ! The selection and the quality of the food served for breakfast each morning was 5 star. We enjoyed a few hours each afternoon relaxing by the pool which which we found so refreshing. The prices for drinks and food by the pool were so reasonable and of very high quality. I particularly enjoyed my Pina Colada it was so well made. We booked dinner for one night during our stay and it was truly amazing. I had a the lobster with pasta and I have never tasted a nicer dish. The food and the service was amazing we enjoyed engaging with all the staff as they were just so nice. Our room was so nicely decorated and spotless and so quiet, good size and well appointment spacious bathroom. We are already looking forward to a return trip next year to this area and of course to this hotel. In these times in Europe where good staff are so hard to find. especially in the hospitality sector, The Management of the Tobago Hotel must be doing something right to retain such happy and hard working employees. We have never come across such perfect hospitality in all our lucky years of travel and we wish to thank every single member of staff that went out of their way to make our holiday a very special and memorable one. From the breakfast staff, the pool area staff, the chefs and staff that served us a wonderful dinner and to the very professional yet super friendly staff at Reception we say a huge Grazie Miele to you all for a wonderful holiday. we were sad to leave. "We had 11 wonderful days at Ca Barbini Resort, the perfect place to explore Lake Garda. We stayed in a Lake View room which was spacious and comfortable with a good size balcony. The staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help, we especially loved breakfast in the garden over looking the lake. The overall facilities were superb, we really appreciated the free shuttle bus in to town. If you are looking for a quiet location with fantastic views and easy access to explore we would highly recommend this hotel."

"Just returned from a week at October half term with a teenager. It was colder than expected, we should have taken coats. The pool was bitterly cold so we couldn’t go in unfortunately, I bet it’s great in the summer. Location wise it’s a bit far out. We walked into Garda most days (30 mins) and had to queue for the minibus home (only runs back between 3:15 and 6:45pm) . The driver was the nicest guy we met, there were a lot of very grouchy Italians at various ticket offices, restaurants, in the hotel… it wasn’t the friendliest place we’ve been. We managed a ferry trip to Sermione (beautiful), and bus trips to Malcesine (very small and annoyingly the cable car wasn’t running), Sealife at Gardaland (great) and Verona (very impressed) and also walked to Bardolino (very nice). We then struggled to fill our last few days, and spent one rainy day in our room playing card games. Shame we didn’t have a nice view, our room was dark and at the back of the hotel. Balcony was too cold to use. Room was very dated but the cleaning service was great and we had fresh towels every other day. Hairdryer is not very powerful at all so I’d advise to take one. Buses are on a limited service at this time of year too, so if you miss one you’re a bit stuffed. Need to plan with precision. Food was interesting. Breakfast ok but not lots of choice really. Two course menu in the evening was hit and miss, but there’s always salad. Couple of standout desserts in the vanilla slice and tart au fruit. Evenings were literally dead, the piano bar was open on 4 of our 7 nights for an hour but only had around 4 tables in it. So we sat in the main bar area/corridor in bright lighting with no music. Ok if you just want an early night after your meal, but certainly not a lively holiday. Wasn’t expecting a €70 tourist tax charge on departure, that stung a bit. In summary: Garda is small and was very sleepy at this time of year. Lovely lakeside scenery with a few nice restaurants to have a drink. We had a nice week, it was something different, but we spent a lot of money on transport trying to travel about to occupy ourselves. Slightly wish we’d booked something a bit livelier and in the sun."

"Brilliant location , was on a tour meals nice choose at the breakfast for the evening meal .no bar , rooms cleaned daily small fridge .no tea making already knew so took own kettle etc .my room wasn't the best 124 as only had a small window & looked out onto a roof I did ask to move but full hotel. Would have been perfect if front with balcony. As had an early return flight they did give us a breakfast pack up .would recommend as good location & beautiful view looking out of restaurant."

"We’ve been here too many times to count, it just ticks every box for us. All staff are friendly & helpful in all areas. Comfy, spotless, beautiful rooms. Breakfast plentiful with multiple choices delicious pastries & freshly cooked dishes. We book half board as the food is incredible and didn’t disappoint this year. The pool and pool area is so relaxing. Indoor spa is quiet and relaxing. I had an ant stress massage which was great. Hotel a 2 minute walk from the lake, and town. Close to the bus station, small supermarket & ferries. Easy to get wherever you need to go. We walked to the next town (about 40 minutes along the lakeside) we book with TUI but many book directly. Definitely a 5* destination for us."

Villa Madrina Lovely and Dynamic Hotel ★★★★
"We spent a week here at the end of April. Clean and comfortable, the room was good sized with a balcony overlooking well kept gardens and pool and a view of the lake in the distance. The bathroom was spacious with a good shower. Bed and pillows very comfortable. The breakfast had a variety of choices of high quality produce. We stayed HB and the evening meal was a good standard and we could always find something to suit our tastes. We also used the wellness and spa facilities including taking part in the weekly yoga session. This is a well managed hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We would like to praise Francesca in particular for her kind and patient attention. We are glad we stayed at Villa Madrina on lovely Garda."

"Dreadful. Very dated. Shabby Miniscule shower On a plus bar staff were lovely. The waiting staff in the 'restaurant not so much. Given a time for dinner. Had to pre order food at breakfast. Which I hate! Thus is supposed to be 4 stat it's more like a 1 star and I'm being generous. Long walk in the town itself however a local shuttle bus runs regularly and it's free. Breakfast was fine with a wide selection of foods. Evening meals were disappointing. Fish or some sort of meat or veggie option.First course pasta or soup. All flavourless. Overall very disappointing 😞 ."

Hotel la Perla - Bike Hotel ★★★
"We visited this hotel 17-24th September. On arrival the check in was quick and reception very welcoming. I had emailed the hotel to ask for a room with a lake view and was not disappointed. This came as an extra cost of 10 euros per night. The room was small but adequate storage and clean. Tea making facilities available. Fresh milk available from the bar. We were allocated a table for dinner for the duration of our stay. We had no problem with this but many others did not get the same table. Food at dinner was good and always fresh salads pasta station and a few main dishes available. There did seem to be a lot of pork dishes cooked in various ways. I thought that there should be more chicken dishes served. Desserts were delicious. Red and white wine available free of charge with your meal which was pleasant and soft drinks and water. Breakfast was really good with lots of choice. The majority of the staff were very friendly with the exception of one or two who didn’t smile. The lady serving the eggs was our favourite member of staff in the restaurant and the girls serving behind the bar at night were very pleasant. Drinks are a reasonable price with cocktails averaging around 7-8 euros. The swimming pool is accessed through a tunnel a very short walk from the hotel. There were singers on a couple of nights who were very good. The hotel is in a good location near to the bus station and a 5 minute walk to the lake. The buses are very busy and a bit of a free for all with certain nationalities who don’t believe in queuing. Staff in the ticket office are very helpful. Ferries available if preferred. Go early to get tickets as long queues sometimes. Just a couple of small areas for improvement. The hairdryer in the room cut out after 30 seconds of use. Either take your own or ask reception for the use of one. Decaffeinated coffee is not served anywhere in the hotel which I find odd in a 4* hotel. Had a word with Nicolette the very nice manager who said thank you for my feedback. I would not hesitate to recommend La Perla for a lovely holiday."

"Where to start! Room was nothing exceptional, very basic. Mishmash of coat hangers with not enough room. Cover on bed was dirty with holes and holes in sheet as well. Bathroom was ok. On a Ledger coach holiday and as we were later arriving were told we had to have what was on buffet and then waiters appeared with pasta which they put on top of what we were eating. Rude waiting staff. Served over people that were eating. Tables so close that people had to move every time somebody wanted to get out. Breakfast very basic. Not too bad as long as you stayed away fro undercooked bacon and fried eggs that had been sitting on a hot plate for ages. There was a set time for dinner and you were barred from entering dining area until that time - back at school springs to mind. Dinners were awful so much so that we ate out 2 nights. Such a shame as Lake Garda is a beautiful place. Ledger need to start upgrading their hotels. "

"The only saving grace is its location 2 minutes walk to the lake but no views from the hotel it looks onto a busy side street and the outside space is a tired and unkempt courtyard which the staff use to park their motorcycles and take their breaks. The rooms were clean and reasonable size but our room had no window so very dark there’s not much privacy on the very small balconies which looked in need of some repair and a lick of paint. The bar is tiny no bigger than a snug and the house wines were almost undrinkable the house beer wasn’t much better. Apart from Sonia the only female waitress and the cleaners the rest of the staff were not particularly friendly and the manager seemed unhelpful and at times rude. Not sure why he’s in the hospitality business as he really didn’t want to be there we nicknamed him Basil. Breakfast was ok but the evening meal wasn’t good. One night I was given a very small square of fish that had obviously been under a heat lamp so hard on top and slimy skin the potatoes were black as was my friends meal so we sent it back but no apology or offer of an alternative so we ate out after that. The restaurant had no atmosphere and felt like a canteen rather that a 4 star restaurant very stark with no decor. We travelled with Great Railway Journeys and some of our group had rooms at the front but had to keep the windows closed due to the noise of the road. We were directly above the kitchen so we were woken most mornings at 5 am by the staff who made no attempt to keep the noise down. There is no on site facilities or entertainment of any sort the sister hotel does have a pool but for those people with limited mobility it’s a good 10 minutes walk. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in especially as it’s been given 4 stars. Unless you just do bed and breakfast for one night I would go somewhere else."
