The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens

The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens

Kerry
I can't understand how anybody would fault this hotel. It is a 100% five star experience. I was worried to read some revies that rooms were dated but this is untrue. The decor of the rooms is very classic with carpets and medium dark wood furniture, but in pristine condition as this hotel has been reburnished. Not a scuff mark to be seen anywhere. We had a superior room on the 4th floor which was pure luxury. Really large and bright with big windows and patio door to balcony and a gorgeous view. A large bathroom with separate bath and walk in shower and a large storage, dressing room area at the entrance with its own full length mirror. Complimentary chocolates were sent up on arrival, a lovely touch as we were celebrating my birthday. The staff at this hotel are exceptional, especially at reception and in the dining room. They are extremely courteous, professional and nothing is too much trouble. The food is also top class, we had breakfast and dinner. My only quibble would be the decor of the dining room but that's a personal thing. In a five star hotel I would prefer more traditional with elaborate napery and table ware and a smaller dining room, or one more partitioned for a cosier, more intimate feel. Here the decor is very ultra modern. It is huge and open plan with very modern table placements which I would find just a little cold. The restaurant overlooks the beautiful Gap of Dunloe which is breathtaking and we were lucky to get a window table at breakfast. But far from the window or after dark you don't have that experience. But overall this hotel is just fabulous, I'd highly recommend it and go back in a heartbeat. Roll on the next birthday!

The Victoria

The Victoria

Kerry
My husband, myself and two other couples recently spent a fabulous two nights at The Victoria during our holiday tour of Ireland. During our nearly 3-week holiday we stayed in 10 different hotels around Ireland and Scotland and the Victoria House is at the top of the list. The property is beautiful, the rooms were immaculately clean, location is great, food is wonderful and the staff was amazing. Upon check-in, we were warmly greeted by Maura and she continued to charm, educate, and entertain us throughout our stay. She was kind, helpful, funny and all around lovely. She readily facilitated reservations and taxis when we needed them, taught us a little Gaelic, gave us tips on local establishments. She is a wonderful asset to the establishment. We also had breakfast in the hotel both mornings and it was delicious--among the best Irish breakfasts we enjoyed during our time in Ireland. Fresh and tasty. The brown bread was wonderful, black pudding delicious and the servers were just lovely. Friendly, funny and helpful. We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was delicious as well. Our server there was great as well. The bar staff was superb too, always friendly and happy to meet our requests. The amenities of the hotel were also lovely, we enjoyed relaxing in the 2nd floor lounge area together after our days of touring. The overall location was great, we took a lovely walk back from the Muckross House one of our days there and enjoyed the National Park and its lovely scenery. Overall, we have only positive things to say about our stay at the Victoria and that doesn't always happen while traveling. If we are ever blessed enough to find ourselves back in beautiful Kilarney we would choose to stay here again. Thank to everyone, especially Maura.

Castlerosse Park Resort

We traveled to Killarney for a holiday in April. I got a fabulous room at a very reasonable price in this hotel. This place has a fantastic view of the lakes and the mountains, and the picturesque trails from the campus are also worth a try. Definitely recommend anyone who visits Killarney to stay here. I wish we had more days to stay!!
Royal Valentia Hotel

This is a great pub in a great location. It has multiple areas for eating and drinking, both inside and out in good weather. There are great views across the water to the mountains from all areas. It also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Aside from evening drinks, we had a Sunday lunch and the beef and Guinness stew was excellent. Recommended.
Ballyroe Heights Hotel

Attend a wedding in ballyroe Heights Hotel last weekend. When we entered the dining room, we noticed that there were about 3 to 4 sashes at each table. One of the wedding party noticed it too. We sat for the meal. The food was fantastic, but the heat in the room was ridiculous. Guests at our table asked a few times to put on Air Con. They were told it was on. If this is so, they need to get it serviced . Even the candels didn't flicker. Very uncomfortable. Then the icing on the cake was when my sister-in-law had mould on the cover of her chair. Of course, we all looked at our chairs, and there were 3 out of 10 with mould. To be honest the venue and staff were fabulous. The chair covers and heat need improvement.
Sneem Hotel

The check-in seamless, staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had a dog too and separate entrance was really handy. The room was spotless, and very generous in size with a beautiful view of the bay. We ate both nights in the hotel, and the food was great quality and very tasty. Very close to the village. Sneem is a magical place, and so worth a visit. Some must do things while in sneem: Eat in one of the restaurants in the village, amazing quality, The meat in the local butcher is amazing, try the black pudding, Go for a walk up the mountains, Go for a walk on the beach, Go for a walk along the river ..

As we drive in the driveway at 6.30pm the stress of our 300km plus sightseeing day (with a problem tyre) left us & the experience just got better! Eilis met us in the carpark with a calm that relaxed us straight away. Don’t worry we’ll sort you (re the tyre) she said & they did. Tom helped us with a pump & a call to a workshop friend they knew, to organise a Saturday repair (Ger from Egans tyres) another amazing human. We were on the road in an hour after breakfast! The room was comfortable & spotless- breakfast was delicious, served in the conservatory with amazing views & Toms local knowledge set us up for an ongoing drive through some of the most beautiful scenery. We’ve stayed at many b & b’s in our travels & id go as far as to say this had to be one of the best! Thank you Eilis & Tom
