Holiday Inn Express MADERA-YOSEMITE PK AREA by IHG

📍 2290 Marketplace Dr, Madera
★★★ 9.1 (112 reviews)

"Clean and spacious. Free Continental breakfast buffet included for up to 4 ppl in a double queen room. Breakfast included: - cereal - oatmeal - scramble eggs - biscuits and gravy - turkey patties and pork sausage - assorted breads, packaged muffins and cinnamon rolls - juice fountain, milk in the refrigerator, and yogurt There was also a simple fitness center (has a water dispenser inside, cold and room temperature water) and a pool onsite with a hot tub. At night the staff got very busy cuz it seemed like only one person was covering everything. But they are friendly and helpful. Can ask the front desk for free toothpaste and toothbrush. One notable con is that there were no hot water kettles nor a hot water dispenser in the lobby. (How do u drink the teas?) Hot coffee was available in the lobby and in the room using a Keurig machine. Ended up using the microwave to heat up water."

"I walked into the room and it smelled horrible. there was no table and no chairs. Their ice machine does not work but I did find 2 half empty ice trays from Dollar Tree in the freezer. the TV was hanging crooked. the pillows on the bed if put together would have a small 1. the sheets and mattress covers were stained and little black bugs were found on each layer of bedding. they weren't bed bugs but still, who would want to sleep with any bug. the bath tub was filthy and the shower head has brownish stuff on it. I booked another motel. The manager never contacted me nor did I get any money back. so if you want a smelly, dirty room Studio 6 is the place to go. The pictures they show on the site are far from the ones I've included."

"Not far from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park, there's a row of houses along the road, with one or two more rows following the hillside. Although the rooms aren't large, they have heating and hot water, making them quite comfortable and suitable for overnight stays. This would be convenient for visiting Sequoia National Park the next day. We drove an hour from the valley to get here in the evening, and when we set off at 9 am the next day, we were surprised to find ourselves queuing for two hours just to get into the south entrance. I recommend leaving early; the staff queuing for park entry is very organized. We valued our time, and after visiting the Sequoias and Glacier Point, we didn't get back to San Francisco until 11:30 pm. If we had arrived earlier, we would have greatly reduced the risk of traffic accidents."

Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino ★★★
"Overall, this hotel isn't recommended for families. Because there's a casino on the first floor, the smell of cigarettes permeated the air as soon as we entered. The front desk staff weren't very friendly to outsiders, and we could still faintly smell cigarette smoke in our room. After checking in, the bathroom only had warm or cold water. After contacting housekeeping, they came 10 minutes later and told us that because so many people were showering at the same time, hot water wasn't immediately available. They hoped we could wait, but we had an early trip the next day and didn't want to wait, so we switched rooms. Strangely, the hot water worked in the room next door. Later, late at night, we continued to hear the sounds of people showering and watching TV. The soundproofing was really poor, and as a result, my family didn't get a good night's sleep. The price was quite different from the quality of the stay."

"Good hotel for short stays, but... 1. There are insects in the room. Not bed bugs or cockroaches, just insects from outsides but still. 2. Strong smell of "farm land". Not in rooms, only outside. I am ok with it, but somebody can disgust it. 3. Breakfast is poor. No protein - eggs or meat. Only waffles (hot), regular yogurt and cereal. No laundry (which is expected). 4. Noice from trucks entering highway nearby. Nevertheless, the room was clean (excluding insects mentioned above). Quite convenient location - grocery and few restaurants are very close."

Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites ★★★
"We really liked this hotel for a number of reasons: (1) Large, clean, comfortable room with lots of storage space and a comfy sofa. Microwave, Keurig, and a decent-sized refrigerator as well. (2) Super-friendly staff, especially the room attendant and the lady who took care of the breakfast. The front desk were very helpful. (3) Great location for visiting Yosemite - about as close as you can get without being in the park - no more than 15 minutes to the gate. Breakfast was steam-table scrambled eggs and sausage, toast, muffins, fruit, and cereal. For more than that there's a Denny's adjacent. There' s a pool, steam rooms, and hot tub, but we didn't bring swim suits, so can't comment on them. Would definitely stay again."
