"This ryokan was absolutely perfect. The service and facilities were of the highest standard. It felt like a paradise in the middle of the mountains. The outdoor bath overlooked a waterfall and a stream, and it was simply perfect. Unfortunately, we could not really go hiking because it rained, but it was still such a pleasure to spend the whole day in such a beautiful hotel."

"Dormitory-style room Okay if you just need a place to sleep I wonder if there are a lot of international guests? I was surprised that shoes were allowed inside the room. There was hair and dirt on the floor. There's an inner lock, but no outer lock, so you have to take your valuables with you when you go out. Toilet and bathroom are shared A standard unit bath Bath towels and face towels were provided The room was warm even though there was no air conditioning, but there was a strange smell, so I looked on the desk and saw an oven toaster half-plugged in and running empty. I'm surprised it didn't cause a fire."

The hot springs were well-equipped, and although there was a slight smell typical of recirculated water, we were still satisfied. The food was stylish, delicious, and enjoyable. "Very traditional Japanese Japanese house, very large place. Having parking spaces is a very special experience for tourists. If two beds, in a formal hotel style, I believe it will make the house more divided. The tatami facilities are not enough, and it is relatively old, but the overall arbitrary use of the whole house, is very happy to experience. The old man who manages understands English and is an experienced elderly man. "

"Fujishimaya is conveniently located for visiting Kotohira, and its exterior is quite unique. Situated right on the pilgrimage path, it was wonderful to return to the hotel for a hot spring bath after climbing all 1368 steps. The hotel has four private onsens that don't require reservations, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner and breakfast were also delicious."

"We stayed at Room C with private onsen. The room was very clean, spacious and fairly new. Two double bed and two futons during the evening. They provided free amenities like drinks, snacks and cream. We loved the staff, they are all very friendly, cheerful and helpful. We had a very happy time being served by “Krishna” during meal times during our two nights’ stay. We taught each other our own simple languages. He’s very cheerful, helpful but serving us in a serious professional way every time. The dining environment is quiet and peaceful, so as the whole hotel. We enjoyed our kaiseki meals a lot. Every single dish is delicious especially the beef salad!! The 45mins complimentary private onsen is also very nice. Location is great. Very easy to get to the tourist areas. Lots of restaurants and dessert places nearby. Highly recommend!"

Free parking is always a bonus. The bunk bed felt sturdy and didn’t make any noise, though the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable. The double bed was fine for a good night’s rest. As we were driving the location worked well for us with a few malls around the area for shopping and dining."
