"Check-in was laborious, we waited 10 minutes for the previous couple to check in. The receptionist ran through her procedure tersely, with no empathy, no smile; we've rarely seen anything like that. We were there for two nights and received the same attitude from the person at breakfast. The person on duty leaned on the console. She didn't speak to us either morning; it really seemed like the job bothered her or didn't suit her. The kitchen staff came to get coffee and other items from the dining room and left without saying a word. Across from me, I had the kitchen door open, and I could watch the staff coming and going during my breakfast. In short, we've had better breakfasts. Otherwise, the room was clean, the air conditioning was incredibly noisy; we had to turn it off both nights, and the TV didn't work. Not really a good experience for us."

"The Mizpa Hotel is full of retro atmosphere, beautifully decorated chandeliers, retro-style furniture, and furnishings related to mining history, which presents a strong sense of history and cultural charm. The hotel also displays photos and autographs of the show's former guests, including our more familiar Sharon Stone and Julie Andrews, the heroine of "The Sound of Music". This night, I don't know if it is the fatigue of the journey, or the hotel bed is particularly comfortable, I sleep very well."

"We originally booked at the Belvada but they had overbooked so we were sent to the Mizpah for a room. They are under the same ownership. The Belvada seemed more family friendly with the Mizpah having a fairly lively bar and casino on the main floor but it was okay for our one night stay. We were on the third floor, quiet and cozy in a junior suite. Both hotels seemed well maintained, definitely full of charm, lore, and loads of vintage touches (the vintage touches can come off as old and somewhat annoying if staying longer but it was great for one night). Overall very happy with the visit, I don’t imagine people go to Tonopah not expecting a slower pace, so with that in mind - enjoy the slow down and the historic details!"
