Hotel Torifito Otaru Canal
"It was pretty good. There's a public bath on the first floor, separated for men and women. It's conveniently located between the canal and the station, less than a 10-minute walk away. The room was a bit small, and it would have been better if the humidifier wasn't there as it took up space."
Granbell Hotel Otaru
"The hotel was just beside the start point of Sakaimachi Street. It was convenient and close to the many attractions of Otaru."
Nishikien inn
"This guesthouse seems to be run by Chinese owners, which is nice. My room was right by the entrance. After checking in at the front desk, I couldn't find it until I turned around... it felt a bit like sleeping in a guardhouse. The soundproofing isn't great either. Because of its peculiar location, it gets very noisy in the mornings. And the room next door seems to be a staff office, which also generates a lot of noise. However, the room was warm and clean, perfect for a night's sleep, and the price was excellent. The only downside is that it didn't have a private bathroom. The common areas were clean and there was even coffee available, which was a pleasant touch."
Grids Premium Hotel Otaru
"Room is very decent. Small size but enough for two of us. The only downside of the room is the lack of luggage rack. Not sure if it’s a temporary problem during our stay, the shower in public bath is not hot enough. You can also hear a loud noise from the water pipes/ pump."
Hotel Nord Otaru
"Worst parking experience for overnight which charge me JPY 16200. Hotel car park is full and ask me park outside, but unfortunately I park at Family mart car park which is no maximum charge. As a tourist, I don’t understand the words there for weekend and I call to call centre don’t know English. After that I asked hotel to help call, but nothing can change and I forced to pay the MOST expensive parking in my life"
Hotel Sonia Otaru
"Room is quite small even I have book the premium one,no view actually although it is very close to the canal.not much service as I have not requested any.10 mins walk from otaru jr station, quite a far way if you carry heavy and bulky lugguage."
Otaru Kourakuen
"Wonderful! One of the best onsen hotel in Japan I have stayed so far👍🏼 Great service and nice staffs."
Grand Park Otaru
"Before our trip, I emailed several hotels regarding our honeymoon, and only Sapporo Odori and Grand Park Otaru replied. Hotels in Toya, Hakodate, and Noboribetsu, all costing over 3K, didn't respond. Grand Park Otaru was by far the most proactive, even arranging a complimentary cake for us. Highly recommend! Although it's a bit far from the popular spots, getting a taxi is very convenient."
Unwind Hotel & Bar Otaru
"Loved my stay at UNWIND HOTEL & BAR OTARU. The rooms were clean and cozy, the staff were friendly, and the complimentary wine service was such a nice touch. Great location near the canal and easy to walk everywhere. Would definitely stay again."

Guesthouse Otaru Wanokaze
"This hotel is indeed cheap for Otaru and relatively clean, but it really is just a hotel! The rooms are rather basic, and I guess the owner is trying to save costs by using an oil heater instead of air conditioning, so there was a smell. I opened the window occasionally, and ended up catching a cold and getting a fever. I probably won't choose this hotel again next time."
Otaru Asarigawa Onsen Hotel Musashitei
"Overall good. The breakfast is rich and recommended. Remember to book the hotel free bus in advance. It runs once a day at 9:30 in the morning to Otaru JR Station, which is very convenient. But I suggest that the first floor hot spring ♨️ would be more perfect if it provided facial cleanser, moisturizing water and body lotion."
Winkel Village
"It was convenient as it was within walking distance of the ski resort, and it was great to be able to fully experience Otaru."
Hotel Neu Schloss Otaru
"Great scene and hotel with special castle feel. Good service and nice staff. Recommend to those interested parties better drive to there."
Otaru Retreat Kuramure by Onko Chishin
"The best Japanese ryokan I've ever been to! The best! I slept so comfortably Thank you so much"
Blue Hotel Nagi-Adult Only

Tabist Kaihourou Otaru
"This hotel, with its historic building and stunning snowy views, was absolutely wonderful. I was surprised by how affordable it was, especially considering our room had a living room and there was a large public bath. The breakfast area felt like a retro foreign mansion, and the food was delicious too."
Otaru Geihinkan
"Beautiful and newly renovated hotel and restaurant right next to the sea located in a small town 15 mins from Otaru. Easy with bus or taxi from Otaru station. Exceptional views from the room and restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast and all was excellent and made with local products. Nice and friendly host."
Asarigawa Onsen Hotel
"Staffs were very friendly & helpful. Will come back again"
Tabist the Green Otaru
"The main building for check-in is really close to JR station. Just exit, go straight, turn left after you see Lawson, and then another left at the intersection. It's about 400 meters. The hotel is spread out in several areas. After check-in, the staff told us our villa was another 10-minute walk away. Luckily, there's a shuttle service both ways. It meant we were quite a distance from the onsen, but that was okay since we'd already had plenty of hot spring baths on our trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the villa's location – it was fantastic! Tucked away in an alley near the shopping street along the canal. The space was huge and well-equipped, and having an entire standalone villa was incredibly comfortable. I didn't encounter any of the issues other reviewers mentioned, so I'm very satisfied!"
Ginrinsou
"A charming, traditional Japanese-style building. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the service was excellent. The staff were warm and attentive. I hope to visit again."
Otaru Asari Classe Hotel
"Very nice hotel with good view and good facilities. The meals included are also very nice."
