Great
GGuest UserOriginally a mansion for a mining baron, the building fell into disrepair until an architect purchased and restored it. The mansion is absolutely beautiful and full of history and antiques. I shared the “Enchanting Turret” room with my older sister. The beds were far enough away that we were afforded ample privacy. The owner, Sheila, lives on the grounds and was a gracious host, offering both hospitality and valued advice about the area. On top of everything, it’s in a great area close to both restaurants and the airport. I give this establishment my highest recommendation.
GGuest UserI was on travel for my mother-in-law funeral and I had booked the double bed but once I checked in, double bed room was not available, instead I was given a one King size bed. and later on-duty manager provided me with roll away bedroom which took most of the room and very inconvenient to move about in the room.
GGuest UserThe employees were kind and helpful, hotel was nice and clean, and the area was safe ! Parking isn’t the best and they do charge around $20. We weren’t able to find a spot so we had to park on the street and they kindly took away our parking fee without any issues ! Would definitely come back !
GGuest UserI don’t think the hotel was anything special, they didn’t have water in the room which should be expected for the price I’m paying.
However Miss Lafaye was amazing. I used to be a night manager 15 years ago for a Hilton Property. She immediately saw how tired I was from my flight and got me checked in and my card with lightning speed. I can tell she’s very well trained and professional, and that made the highlight of my stay.
GGuest UserRoom was nice. Nothing special. Did not see any vending machines with pop and went to front desk where they had a small shelf with few items. Had bottled water but no pop also noticed they had other items to sell but was also out. We just needed a place to stay on our way further south and it worked fine for us. Was a little difficult to find the hotel but that could have been the map on the phones. Desk person was nice. Heard her speaking to a few people while we were checking in and seemed pleasant to them all
AAnonymous UserWe wanted to stay in Irondale rather than Birmingham and although this property didn't have great or CURRENT reviews, the description said that it was renovated in 2024 and no other property had a better review. It was indeed updated in some areas and our room was very nicely appointed with new upholstery and modern furniture but it was not clean. There was a layer of dust (construction?) on EVERYTHING and long, dark hairs on the bathroom floor. The window glass was filthy. The freezer was so in need of defrosting that the door would not shut and we were unable to refreeze our flat ice packs. I would guess that no one has stayed in the room since the renovation and the room had not received a post-construction cleaning. The elevator was very dirty, noisy, and a bit scary to ride to the 4th floor. The regular clientele is obviously traveling construction workers. Staff was very friendly but unprofessional.
GGuest UserThe hallway smell was over the top. Whatever they use to mask the smell was just awful. Also, when I came back from dinner one night, there was a puddle of water from the a/c. Water was under bed and to the other side of room. Management came and cleaned it up and took care of a/c issue. It was late and didn’t want to deal with that. Wont be going back.
JJohnsonThe hotel is very quiet , if any issues come about during your stay then they would be taken care of immediately. The staff is really nice and helpful. They really make your stay worth it.
KKAIXIANGThere was a fridge and microwave in the room but they didn't work. There was no overhead lighting so you had to use floor lamps or table lamps. Several of the outlets were not working so some of the floor lamps didn't work. There was also a $50 deposit required at reception.
