The Stamford Hotel ★★★
"Upon checking in we found our first room unbelievably filthy. The carpet was dirty and red/brown stains multiple places on the wall. The manager (I believe) was very accommodating and switched our room immediately. The second room was much better but I don’t know why there were only 2 sets of towels in each room. The AC went out on day 2 and 3 people in our group were affected. One group checked out and went to a nearby Marriott. We booked 6 rooms total and 3 of us had to switch rooms atleast once. We didn’t visit the gym or pool but the lobby was nice. The bartender was great and the food we ate was great. There is no breakfast and a bottle of water is $6 😳. Overall, the stay was bearable but I would never come back."

"The room was clean. Breakfast was good for an American Express hotel. Parking was inconvenient. You had to park at the next door parking lot and then walk 3 minutes back to the hotel. Overall it was OK."

"Was in the area for a wedding, and daughter/son-in-law flew in from CA. Daughter saw pics of this venue and talked us into spending last night here. Pics are impressive. Unfortunately the bldg. portrayed is an event venue and summertime restaurant. So don’t expect to even step inside. The actual rooms are in a late 60’s early 70’s multi-bldg. motel that still contains the furniture and carpets from that era. Our room had the musty smell of being closed up a long time. Our view was the end wall of another bldg about 10’ away. Best view we found on the property was a peek-a-boo of the Hudson about a 1/2 mile away. Our first days were at the Courtyard also in Tarrytown. Per night prices were similar. Proximity to attractions, amenities, service , cleanliness and hospitality were not even close in favor of the Courtyard. If a person was attending an event held here, then staying here may be more advantageous then commuting. Buyer Beware!"

"The hotel is situated a bit uphill, so dragging luggage up can be a struggle. However, on weekdays, they offer a complimentary shuttle service within a 2-mile radius upon request, which is very convenient for getting around. The room itself has two large, openable windows with a nice view. It's well-equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator, microwave, hairdryer, coffee maker, and complimentary packaged coffee. The free breakfast is entirely vegetarian and cold, featuring bread, pastries, waffles, butter, cheese, fruit, and cereal. The only downside is that they don't provide local tourist maps, which is a bit inconvenient."
