KAMENOI HOTEL KUMANO TANABE
"Don't book this hotel! The most annoying hotel in Japan! My reservation was authentic and valid. When I arrived at the hotel, the hotel front desk manager could not understand English or Chinese. He told me that there was no way to check in. This store discriminated against Chinese people. At 2 o'clock in the morning, I was a girl sleeping on the streets abroad with my luggage. So far, I booked it with Ctrip overseas. This software is just like the hotel in evading responsibility, and it still hasn't given me a solution! They refused to let me check in and deducted my money!"
Sansuikan Kawayu Midoriya
"This is one of the famous onsen hotels within the vicinity of Kumano Hongji area, it is ideal for pre-hike stay for preparation/familiarization of the area or a post-hike relaxation to wrap the hike. Awesome Onsen, outdoor one even better (though it was close to zero in the morning and at night, you definitely get unforgettable experience) There is buffer breakfast as well as dinner for you to enjoy, especially for dinner, beyond my expectation. The hotel also provides free parking lot for the guests. Downside was the facility within the room, quite simple and basic. But you came here to hike and explore the area, so for the location, onsen and the nice food, 4 out of 5 ⭐️. Plus, Ms. 萌音 at reception speaks fluent English and provided a quite detailed tips on some of trekking routes for my consideration and willing to help to send the postcard for me as the Post Office was closed on Sunday, many thanks to her!"
Hotel Kii Tanabe
"Good location, hv a lot food places nearby"
Kawayu Onsen Fujiya
"This hotel is perfect for a relaxing one day stay. It’s right beside a sapphire-blue river in the middle of the mountains. The in-room onsen is more than big enough for two people and they also have communal baths. They also offer a free shuttle to the start of a stretch of the Kumano Kodo if you want to hike the next day."
Shimogoten
"This is a very quiet, rural Japanese inn, a good choice for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, as there are few people, cars, and shops nearby. The innkeeper is very talkative and has a great personality. Transportation is indeed inconvenient; be sure to allow plenty of time if you're coming from the airport. It's no exaggeration to say it takes about 6 hours to get there, but for us it was a unique experience, so it was acceptable. The hot spring bath left our skin feeling smooth. We didn't have enough time this time, but next time we'll try the public bath, the kind Dr. Daimon used to bathe in."
Yunominesou
"The balcony view is perfect. Meal provided is perfect and delicious. Onsen is good."
Ryokan Adumaya
"Ryokan Adymaya turned out to be one of the highlights of my 3 week trip to Japan. Partly because I arrived in the middle of my Kumano Kodo Nakahechi hike, after a very challenging 10 mile trek through the summer heat. The opportunity to relax in a spacious room, soak my feet, have amazing food brought to me in my room... oof, I was primed to appreciate those luxuries. If you're hiking, I can't imagine a better splurge. But also because Adymaya was so, so nice. I got the deluxe room which somehow included a dining room, a sitting room, a bedroom, a bathroom, an outdoor garden and private bath, and there were a few really exquisite pieces of furniture--the dining table certainly appeared to be real urushi lacquer (tsugaru urushi, maybe?). The amenities were wonderful--great skincare offerings--the meal was beautifully presented, with lovely tableware and seasonal ingredients. I ended up spending much more on a ryokan in Hakone, and I only realized afterwards what a premium you pay to be close to Tokyo. At Adymaya, I felt so much more welcome and pampered. Note that the onsen water is HOT--almost 200 degrees Fahrenheit--I was feeling like a total wimp because I couldn't submerge until I saw a little notecard mentioning the temperature. Luckily, there's a tap to add cold so you can cool the water down until it's JUST bearable, which is amazing."
Riverside Garden -kumanokodo-chikatsuyu-
"Very good homestay, the landlord is friendly and friendly, the geographical environment is very good, the room is large, clean and hygienic. Every meal is delicious, every detail reveals the landlord’s intentions, and I will go again if I have a chance in the future."
Garden Hotel Hanayo
"The room was clean and close to the sea. A taxi to JR costs 1000 yen."

Guesthouse Shitanoe
"It was close to Kumano Taisha Hongu and the roadside station, and was in a great location to enjoy the Kumano Kodo. Thank you very much."
Takiyoshi
"The traditional Japanese accommodations were great and very clean (recently updated bathrooms and new elevator). The baths were very relaxing and the food was amazing!! The young couple who owns it works very had to make your stay great and we saw that they were very helpful to another group who had some last minute transportation issues. We wished we could have stayed here longer!"
Minsyuku Azumayaso
"Very old Japanese-style hotel, shared toilets and restrooms, the equipment seems to be in ancient times, the boss's English is not good, the attitude is inexplicable, I don't recommend coming here."
J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse
"Nice host and easy to locate. Best Osen"
Watarase Onsen Hotel Sasayuri
"Nice hotel with good baths. Friendly staff and cool/different rooms."
Ryokan Bijintei
"Excellent! 1. The owner is very welcoming. 2. Excellent location, right next to the station. 3. Beautiful environment. 4. I fell asleep to birdsong every night. 5. The hotel's hot spring is very clean. 6. The food is delicious."
Watarase Onsen Hotel Yamayuri
"From the Kumano Kodo, walk to Hatshinmon Prince and take a bus to the hotel. The ride takes about 40 minutes. Remember to check the bus timetable before hiking. The last bus down the mountain is at 4:30. The room size is very good, and the price is not expensive for a room with two meals. There is a single bathing pool, but the water temperature is not very hot. The location of the hotel is quite remote. Remember to book dinner and breakfast. There is no place to eat around except the large bathing area. You can book a free bus to Hongu Taisha or Fashinmon Prince on the next day."
Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya
"good value"
Otonashi No Sato Wataze Onsen & Cottage

Comfort Hotel Kii Tanabe

Hotel Nankairo

Minshuku Sumiya

Kirinosato Takahara
"Beautiful little gem if you are doing Kumabo Kodo or just want to experience the Kii peninsula. Best place i‘ve stayed at during my 5 days hike & excellent food! owners are true hosts and you feel how welcome you are even it is only for one night."
Mirai Noen
"This was a long time ago, but... it was the worst lodging I've ever stayed at in my life. There was no hygiene at all. I hope they improve it for future guests. There is a separate accommodation building, the master's house, and a detached room. Opposite the main house is a detached room! It feels like a storage shed💦 The entrance is through the farmhouse storehouse. There was food left over from the previous guest, even in the fridge! 20,000 yen a night (New Year's rate) is just too bad! The room in the main house may be comfortable, but the detached room is definitely not worth the fee. I was dying to go home..."
Nouka Minpaku Mirainouen
"The room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant."
Onsen Minshuku Omuraya
"We were well received, breakfast and dinner are feasts of Japanese specialties, the hostel is well located if you like to walk around a bit... Small downside on the quality of one of the two completely hollow beds (room 211), basic and small onsen. It is an authentic hostel, but not a hotel. Overall satisfied with our 2 nights"
Ryokan Sakai
"The accommodation fee was expressed as 、 confusing. ¥ 9,800 〜 Discount if you pay in cash on site. It was different when I went to the site."
