SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh Latrobe

Unity Township|4.85km from city center
This property is basically the ideal mid-market, comfortable-but-not-fussy hotel. I stayed for two nights last month, and I was impressed by both the service and the room. After a quick and easy check-in, I headed up to my room, which was spacious, spotless, and well-considered. (The people at Marriott who design the SpringHill Suites brand clearly did a lot of market research to figure out what business travelers want; it's space, a good bed, a large desk, and a lot of power plugs.) Shortly after I got to my room, I got a call from the front desk asking if there was anything I needed. I haven't gotten a call like that in years, and I sometimes stay at much pricier, four-plus-star downtown hotels. And this call didn't feel perfunctory; the attendant really seemed to go out of her way, including at check-in, to see how she could help. Breakfast was meh, which was what I expected. But this impressed me: Shortly after breakfast closed, a colleague came down, looking forlorn that he had missed the cutoff. When he asked an employee who was cleaning up whether breakfast had closed (of course it had), the employee told him to wait right there, went into the back, and made him a breakfast sandwich. It was the sort of unnecessary, above-and-beyond service that you remember. So, the SpringHill Suites is not an elite resort or a unique boutique. But it is spacious, well-appointed, clean, and comfortable, with outgoing staff, and I'd go out of my way to stay there if I'm in the region again.

Super 8 by Wyndham Greensburg

Greensburg|4.37km from Twin Lakes Park
When you stay at a typical Rodeway Inn, you don't expect a five-star experience. You hope for a reasonably clean and comfortable room for the night. This Rodeway in Greensburg succeeds in providing just that. This is on older property with a typical motel layout from the time period it was built in: two stories in a U shape with parking in the middle. Room doors open directly to the outside parking, which is very convenient if you have a ground-floor room. The room was very clean and well-appointed for a budget hotel: very comfortable beds, dresser with flat screen TV and decent cable, desk and desk chair plus an overstuffed chair. alarm clock/radio. The small bathroom is no-frills but clean and everything worked, with a tub/shower. Our room had carpeting which seemed clean. The air conditioning worked well, and the small refrigerator and microwave were welcome surprises. We received a very friendly greeting at check-in, which was quick and painless. Be aware that Route 30 in this area is divided, and this motel is on the west-bound side, so if you are traveling east-bound you will have to pass the motel and backtrack a bit. The motel is just west of the Westmoreland Mall. Using my GPS gave me a false location in the mall. The manager said that using the mailing address gives a false location on some GPS's but not on others. Their business card gives another address to use with GPS: 935 East Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg PA 15601. It would be helpful if the Choice Hotels website gave both addresses. Overall, we were completely satisfied with our stay given the price.

The staff is very friendly both welcoming us with bright smiles! They helped me get into a suit for a little get away with the big jet tubs! It was one of the most peaceful nights i have had in a long time. I wish they could of had breakfast but i understand with the covid-19 things are a little rough still! But they were so kind to let me know who delivers and pointed me over to speedway i think it was for some hot fresh coffee and some warm breakfast! My room was beautiful and very clean too!
