We stayed at Chinchilla Motor Inn as a family and had a fantastic experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained — perfect for a family stopover. A special mention to the lovely lady at reception who was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone passing through or staying in Chinchilla!
My personal experience staying here was great.
Pros:
1. The corner floor-to-ceiling windows offered fantastic views and natural light.
2. The hotel's Wi-Fi was fast and had excellent coverage.
3. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety and quality, even having xiao long bao (soup dumplings).
4. Although the room was small, it was well-designed, and all essential functions were met.
5. The bathroom also had great natural light, along with a full frosted floor-to-ceiling glass panel. If you're visiting in the summer, you could easily hand wash your delicates and hang them in the bathroom, using the sliding door to help air dry them. They'd be dry in half a day.
Cons:
1. Trip.com indicated that there was Chinese service available, but I specifically confirmed with the front desk, and the hotel does not offer it.
2. The bedside table in this room type was quite small, making space a bit tight for personal items (as shown in P5).
3. This room type didn't come with a proper chair and desk (but this wasn't a big issue for me).
4. The hotel is located on a small peninsula, so you have to walk a little extra each time you go out.

Great place for a young crowd, backpackers, solo travelers - feels like a very social place. A bit much if you're older or someone who wants a quieter stay. They have beautiful rooftop, very big shared kitchen, some activities you can sign up for and decent wifi. A bit of a walk to get to places but not significant. Separate rooms have bathroom, electric kettle. Could have had better storage areas, bedside tables were tiny. Air-conditioning present and cooled the room down well but old system, so couldn't control temperature well and direction of air so it ended up blowing too hard and straight at you. Overall good value, just some quirks to be aware of.

1. **Prime Location:** Situated right on the Cairns Esplanade, it's a mere 2-minute walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal (the departure point for Great Barrier Reef tours) and 3 minutes to the Esplanade Lagoon. Restaurants and night markets are plentiful nearby, and a taxi ride to the airport takes about 13 minutes.
2. **Amenities & Experience:** Most modern rooms feature private balconies with city or harbor views. The free Wi-Fi is stable, and the outdoor pool is comfortable. The Bushfire Flame Grill Brazilian BBQ has a great reputation (breakfast/dinner are extra). Paid parking is limited, and street-facing rooms occasionally experience noise.
3. **Service:** There's a 24-hour front desk with multi-lingual staff who can assist with booking Great Barrier Reef/rainforest excursions. Luggage storage is seamless.
4. **Drawbacks:** Parking can be tight during peak season, some bathrooms are a bit dated, and breakfast isn't particularly cheap.

Everything was wonderful. Comfortable beds, large, comfortable bathrooms, 24-hour reception, and a well-equipped kitchen. There's a popular nightclub nearby, but the noise from it didn't reach my room.
Excellent! This is the closest hotel to the ocean in Airlie Beach, and I was lucky enough to get a sea view room. It felt like I was surrounded by the sea from 270 degrees. The room was large and bright, which really boosted my mood. It's also very close to the main street. I actually prefer this quiet spot over the hotels on the main street, which can be quite noisy.
The location of the hotel is very convenient - 10 min walk away from the convention centre. The train station and bus station is nearby and the walk to the nearby turbocat makes the hotel in a prime location for transport. The front desk was efficient and pleasant. Although I check in early and the rooms were not ready, they were nice to allow us to use the facilites on the 21st floor to relax and shower. Also on the 21st floor is the rooftop bar which has the best views of South bank and the skyline.
The Vista King Suite was a huge room with large bathroom sitting area and the bed was super comfortable. It took me awhile to find the door, which was hidden behind a glass door enclosure to block out noise. Housekeeping was efficient and meticulous. Breakfast was either in the cafe on G/F or the 21st floor. Servings were hearty and filling from the a la carte menu.
Only complaint is the location, because buses to Brisbane center has long waiting time. Though it forces this hikikomori to walk more along the beautiful river coast. It is advisable to rent a vehicle beforehand. Also there seems not to be convenience store/supermarket nearby.
As for amenities, there is laundry + dryer (AUD 4 + 4) and shared kitchen. But there are no towel, slipper, toothbrush/shaver/shampoo/body wash, so remember to bring your own.
A good location for a few night. Pricing is ok and value for money. It' aged and has seen many years, especially bathroom facilities which are not ensuite. At least it is kept clean. Staff at reception is very friendly, but mainly students with no deep and profound knowledge about facility

Great
PPippa-louisePlace is amazing clean , fresh and of high standard .
But when it comes to booking and service this is another story .. for the money I paid to stay 2 night I thought this would be the perfect place to rest I’m 5 star style .. place yes , service a disaster. Firstly when I arrived at Swiss bel .. I went to reception to book in as I booked online a queen bed room he asked if I had a vehicle I said yes agreed to the $35 a night and he said he would just take it out of the bond I paid at end if that was ok I said yes perfect .. when I got up to my room it was 2 single I called reception and advised I had booked a queen bed and there is 2 singles he said oh the house keeper hadn’t changed the beds or didn’t look at booking , I asked if someone could just come up and fix .. he said there is noone to do this now come down and j will find another room for you . I went down stairs said I would go get something to eat and when I come back hopefully a room will be sorted. I came back he advised me that he had upgraded me and I asked if I could have the new key and I will switch rooms and come back down with the other key to save me bringing my luggage down and then back up again. I got to room and key didn’t work to go to 6th floor . So I brought my luggage down and told reception that key didn’t work . He said sometimes this happens with those keys /actually quite often said he would come up with me and check . Yes card did not work so he used his staff card to let me in said he would fix and come back . He came back 10mins later to test and it had been foxed . Not sure what the upgrade as as room was smaller than the first , had no shower gel (was empty container when I went into have a shower) thought it may have been replenished on next day with room
Clean still empty on second day and cleaner took face washers and never replaced them so I washed with shampoo and a hand towel .. when I came back on second day went to put card into open the car park and it didn’t work .. I went to reception to let them know I was trying to get into car park and the card doesn’t work, she (Asian lady) advised me that I hadn’t paid for parking .. I had to explain everything from the night before then asked me they will take it out of my bind I said yes that’s what I agreed with the night before . No apology just more interested in getting payment for parking. She added parking to
Card then said she would come out and make sure it worked as I said the night before man had to come
And make sure carry worked she forgot card for
The card so
Went back into get then came out .. followed me down then gave me a card .. I later received a phone call from a lady called Theresa asking how my stay was and I explain that it has been the most disappointing experience I have had ever ! Explained the above she said she would come and replace the shower gel and face washers I said it’s ok I have already had my shower used a hand towel and shampoo because I’m already in bed .. she said that I hope that my stay apologetic on my experience already , I hope it is better from now and if I need anything to contact her and ask for Theresa I said thank you I appreciated the call … then then 10
Minutes later she comes knocking on my door I have to get dress to answer the door she knocks again I said I’m coming
She is at the door with the shower gel and face washers getting me out of bed . I understand why she brought it but I told her I was in bed and I had already showered . So then I go to hand my key in to check out to be told I have outstanding parking I need to pay .. I advised Theresa that it is coming out of the bond payed and this has been told now to 3 people .. as I said place is absolutely fantastic.. apart from missing shower gel and tissues
Not sure what or how I was uograded as the room was smaller and no window as in first room

GGuest UserI was very satisfied. There is a shop near the hotel, which is very helpful. Due to its location, it is a place where you do not have to eat. The hotel employees are very nice.
GGuest UserThe location is wonderful .. short walk to surfers paradise and skypoint is just right next door. Easy to get from airport as the tram stop is just right next to skypoint. Many cafe and restaurant choices. Did not use the pool or gym. Noise can be heard from room as the walls are thin. Easy check in .. staff did not advise much on the resort facilities and we figure out the wifi password base on the sticker on the kitchen wall. Our rooms balcony look out into the pool which is nice.
GGuest UserI was lucky to choose this hotel in Brisbane during the Christmas holiday. The suite has two large beds, a kitchen with a dishwasher, two sinks in the bathroom, separate wet and dry areas, and a beautiful swimming pool. The location is also good. There is a bus but the train requires more than ten minutes of walking up and down the hill, which is quite tiring.

GGuest UserThe location is 10 minutes walking distance from ciry cenrer and 8 minutes from bus station. They won't clean your room if the booking is less than 6 nights. The room size was reasonable with basic amenities. The AC was window type. You can store luggage after check-out.
TTaishanshendiaoxialvHotel location: Super convenient, right outside is George Square and Queen Street. You can even see the clock tower of the square from your room. Truly irreplaceable.
Hardware facilities: The space isn't huge, but the facilities are quite complete. Although it's an old hotel, the cleanliness is still good.
Service: We stayed for 2 nights and noticed there was only one bottle of milk. We told the staff, and they immediately brought a whole pack, which was great.
However, the bathroom fan was broken. We called maintenance, and they came to look at it but couldn't fix it on the spot, saying they'd come back the next afternoon. But when we returned to our room late the next evening, it still wasn't fixed, and we weren't informed why. This needs improvement.

Great
KKate CanovaCan I put 6 stars? :)
This place is definitely one of the best hostels ever. Where do I start from?
Reception: everyone is always super kind and helpful, including offering help with luggage and everything else. The hostel looks very new and modern, so beautiful!
Room: it's great! Big enough, with hangers, curtains on each bed (amazing!), plugs and light for every bed and also some extra plugs around the room. Bed was very comfortable and I felt great there!
Bathroom: always clean, soap in every sink and in every shower, big and nice!
Kitchen: incredibly well equipped and open 24 hours. There are 2 doors separating it from the rooms so it's never noisy even if people are there in the night. They provide big boxes that fit in the (many) fridges so that it's all tidy and clean. Goodbye the hundreds of Woolworths bags and messy fridges with no space for other people's food! Even the cups, the dishes were perfectly clean, like everything else. I was seriously impressed, they did the cleaning multiple times a day. Free salt, oil, tea and coffee always available.
Common areas: really beautiful, full of books, games, with a huge TV and many tables and beanbags.
Events: they actually organize social events and the staff helps the ”new” people to socialize. That's so important! Many long termers don't really mind about meeting new people but if the staff does his part then it gets a lot easier. And here, they do. On my first night they had a free cheese and wine event and we got a lot of tasty food and wine.
Location: perfect, just above Woolworths and a few minutes walking from everything. The Little Drifter feels more like an hotel than a hostel and I really don't know how people can rate it low.
As great as it is I would still like to suggest some possible improvement. Maybe at the Reception you can print a map with a few info about the hostel on the back. I didn't understand where the boxes for the kitchen were, I didn't find the labels. Also it took me 3 days to find out that I had another toilet a lot closer to my room, so for 3 days I was crossing a very long hallway in the middle of the night when I had to go.
I also didn't like the fact that I had to open the doors through the app and I discovered later that there is a code to open it as well (I try to leave my phone in my room as much as possible).
This hostel is a little more expensive than other places but it's totally worth it! If I'll be back in Cairns I won't hesitate to come here. Thanks!
PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.
