I highly recommend visiting the Summer Palace and listening to Guide Li! I initially thought it would just be a stroll through the park, but the guided tour was incredibly enriching. Guide Li didn't just read from a script; he eloquently explained the stories behind the painted walls of the Long Corridor, the garden's design intentions, and palace anecdotes, weaving them into historical facts in a engaging and informative way. The itinerary was well-paced, avoiding a rushed or superficial experience, and he patiently answered all my questions. The entire tour was guided, with no hard selling. Everywhere in the Summer Palace has its intricacies, and only with a professional guide can you truly understand this World Heritage Site. It was a truly unforgettable experience during my trip to Beijing.

It's definitely not advisable to bring elderly people and children to Beijing during the National Day holiday, as it gets extremely crowded. We had originally booked Tiananmen Square, the Great Hall of the People, and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, but the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall was particularly difficult to book. We ended up going to the zoo instead, and our guide, Yue, refunded our booking fee. Although we never met him, the quality of his service was incredibly heartwarming. This is the biggest source of confidence we have for traveling in Beijing.
