GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located with friendly and polite front desk staff. The room was clean and hygienic. The elevator at the back of the hotel goes directly to B3, where you can access an underground passage to the MRT, High-Speed Rail, regular train, and Taoyuan Airport MRT without having to cross the street. It's truly convenient.

小小小肥It truly felt like a vacation. The rooftop pool offers amazing sunset views, and they even provide a complimentary alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. It's the perfect environment to just relax and unwind. The hotel's location is also super close to the night market, so you'll never have to worry about going hungry.

SShunshierlehmThe room was very clean, and the front desk service was excellent! They gave us very detailed travel advice. It's also in a very convenient location for sightseeing, with Longshan Temple and Mengjia Night Market nearby. There are some affordable local eateries right next to the hotel, and getting to Ximending and other attractions is super easy. The only downside is that the room layout is a bit awkward, as the bed faces the main entrance directly. A floor-to-ceiling window design would make the room much more comfortable.

GGuest UserHotel is relative clean. Stayed in a single room with a semi double bed. Size is decent but didn’t realised it was behind the lifts, could hear the lift moving through out the day.
The shower head position is pretty bad. It’s not on an angle it’s pretty much like spraying directly into your body. It would be great if they could address this.
It’s 15 mins walk from the metro station so not closed.
Also there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Crawled out of the drain

TTakeoff26Hotel Papa Whale in Ximending is a good, quiet, original hotel for short stays, a 7 minute walk from the busy streets and ”The Red House”. I got this room for 1.125 NTD a night. But make sure you ask for a ”Double Elegant Room” on the third floor. The room I was first given on second floor smelled damp. I did not try the hotel dining or breakfast but you can walk from inside the hotel straight into a Starbucks for breakfast. The rooms have a unique, rough but elegant vintage industrial look with good size wall mounted TV, comfortable beds and nice three piece bathrooms with good water pressure. The rooms are clean but have vintage wear with many original details. I would stay again.

GGuest UserPros: Big room and great location right next to public transit and ximending. Hotel lobby and dining looks nice and clean. Cons: carpets in hallways have really old, huge stains. We found a cockroach in our room around midnight crawling by the vents on the ceiling. We couldn't reach it so we tried to call reception and the phone was busy for a good while. We finally went down in person to ask for some help and they said they would send someone in 10 minutes. Half an hour later we checked in again and just asked for a new room at this point since the roach had crawled into the vents and we didn't know when it would come out again. They finally sent someone to our room while we were packing and sprayed the room with a liquid that supposedly kills roaches. He targeted the vents where we last saw the roach, and a few minutes later the roach came crawling back out. Luckily our guy was still in the room and he caught it for us. We decided not to change rooms since we were leaving soon anyway. Who knows if the roach had a family up in the vents or not. Hotel did not check on us or ask about our experience during checkout.

GGuest UserThe hotel is ok but the room is big. The restaurant in the hotel is a must try. My daughter LOVEs every dishes she ordered. She said, this is the best food she had in Taiwan, so we had two dinners at the hotel. The location of the hotel is not great! We couldn’t get into the local buses to go to Xitou nor to Taichung because the buses were full from the original starting point. However, the hotel offers fare shuttle service to and from Xitou but not Shanlinxi. The front desk lady drove us to Xitou, she was GREAT and very accommodating, she took us to Xitou bus station outside of the normal schedule hours so we can catch the bus back to Taichung. We would come back again with our car to get to different areas in Xitou again.
