Time flew by when touring the Old Summer Palace with Guide Xu. Not only did he provide professional explanations at the main scenic spots, but he also chatted with fellow travelers during the walks, introducing historical anecdotes and current events. His humor and engaging style were captivating. Even at the end of the tour, he helped arrange transportation to the next attraction. I highly recommend the professional and enthusiastic Guide Xu.

A Visit to the Bird's Nest: The Imprints of Time Under the Olympic Glamour Stepping into the Bird's Nest, the fervent atmosphere of the 2008 Beijing Olympics seemed to still linger in the air. As the soul of the opening ceremony and events, this steel giant cage still awes every visitor with its intricate lines. However, approaching the interior, a sense of melancholy arises—the track surface shows signs of wear and tear, its edges slightly gray, as if no athletes have sprinted, breathed, or cheered here for a long time. While the venue is well-maintained, it lacks that vibrant, ready-to-go energy, resembling a well-preserved but somewhat silent time capsule. Perhaps the greatest significance of buying a ticket lies in the "imagination of space." Standing in the center of the stands, closing your eyes, you can almost hear the roar of 90,000 people gathered there, the flames tracing a spiral trajectory across the night sky—those breathtaking moments were frozen into history here. Now, with fewer visitors, this recollection becomes even clearer. Walking around the stadium, looking up at the sky through the grid, the steel structure creates a cold yet rhythmic beauty in the interplay of light and shadow. However, if you only take a quick photo, it's easy to feel it's "nothing special." The most surprising experience is hidden on the top floor. Slowly ascending the narrow walkway, the sound of the wind gradually fills your ears. Reaching the highest point, the view suddenly opens up to the entire city of Beijing—the glass curtain wall of the China World Trade Center glitters in the distance, the axis of the Olympic Park stretches straight down below, and you can even see the outline of the Western Hills in the distance. This ingeniously designed "sky path" makes you feel as if you are walking on the spine of a giant structure, instantly understanding why this building is called a city landmark. However, if you visit in winter, be sure to wrap yourself up in a coat: the wind here is unforgiving, wild and seemingly trying to sweep away all the remaining Olympic warmth. Overall, visiting the Bird's Nest is more like a gentle touch of memory. It may no longer shine as brightly as it once did, nor be as full of competitive passion, but when you stand at its highest point and feel the north wind blowing in your face, you can still feel a silent yet immense witness—witnessing the peak and accepting the sedimentation of time. If you are willing to listen carefully, there are still echoes in the cracks of the steel.

Beijing Weather: Autumn in Beijing

Autumn in Beijing is considered the best time to visit. It’s adorable with golden colors along the streets. The weather is cool and dry.

Locals often say, “If you haven’t seen Beijing in autumn, you haven’t seen its true beauty.”

The Summer Palace was beautiful and had a lot of quiet places hidden away from the bustling crowds of tourists. While getting the Hanfu, the staff was friendly, but the process felt very rushed and a little intimidating. The first staff member to help me ignored the fact that my Hanfu was too small which left me uncomfortable, even after I mentioned it feeling small. A second staff member noticed and was helpful in getting me a bigger size.

Nanshan skii village is great for beginners and Pros, for beginners there are coaches that can teach you. One thing i didn’t like though, after buying the ticket online for 400cny, when you get there you have to pay another 400cny deposit which is refundable. Also the ticket doesn’t included protective gear( knee and butt pad) so its another 50cny to rent that for the day, overall it was a good experience though.

Great park. We bought two tickets for the price of one in November—I think it was the winter package—and it was a great deal. Rides 8/10—no lines, loved the roller coasters, but otherwise, it's a beautiful park.

A dream come true. If you're short on time, I recommend taking the cable car or funicular and choosing one of the two routes. I took the north route, and there are points where the gradient reaches 50° or more. Bring patience and comfortable shoes.
