Our Universal Studios Beijing tour guide was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and very well organized. They managed time efficiently, explained attractions clearly, and helped us skip unnecessary waits. The experience was smooth, enjoyable, and stress-free. Highly recommended for first-time visitors and families wanting the best park experience.

Guide Wen Jing was excellent at managing the time and provided clear explanations. Even on hot days, she made sure to find shady spots for everyone to rest while continuing her tours. Thanks to her professional guidance, the visit to the Forbidden City was no longer a rushed affair, but rather a deeper understanding of the imperial living environment and its stories. It was a truly worthwhile and wonderful trip.

Eva was a wonderful guide! She was so patient and waited for us when we ran late. She was super knowledgeable and gave us a great history lesson throughout the tour. Please be aware of Beijing traffic restrictions—cars can't drive right up to the spot, so expect a 10–15 minute walk from the drop-off point. Ok

Top 3 Attractions for Your Beijing Experience

Beijing has dozens of attractions, but these 3 are must-sees for first-timers—they showcase the city’s history and culture, and many are covered in Trip.com’s tours.

1. The Great Wall (Badaling Section)

  • Highlight: One of the most well-preserved sections of the Great Wall, offering easy access and breathtaking mountain views. It’s even featured in Trip.com’s complimentary “Journey to the Great Wall Tour” for layovers!
  • Best Time to Visit: Aim for March to May for mild weather, or September to November for clear skies. It’s best to steer clear of the summer crowds.

To conserve energy, I recommend taking the cable car; it costs only 140 yuan roundtrip. Only the Great Wall offers spectacular views of the mountains and cliffs.

The most conveniently located section of the Great Wall of China, it's a 20-minute drive from Beijing. To ascend, we bought cable car tickets; you can skip the return ticket and go down on the toboggan: not unusual, but fun. I'd budget no more than three hours for the wall itself; you won't get very far, as the climbs and descents are very steep. If you go down on the toboggan, you can also see a teddy bear park, stroll along a forest path, and buy cute postcards in the souvenir shops.

It's definitely worth a visit. If you're short on time, you can take the route through the north city. If you have more time, you can walk along both the north and south city walls. It's also very cool to visit in the evening. A must-see attraction.

2. The Forbidden City (Palace Museum)

  • Highlight: The former imperial palace of China’s emperors—home to over 186,000 cultural relics. It’s an absolute must-see for history lovers!
  • Best Time to Visit: 8:30–10:00 AM (for smaller crowds); note that it's closed on Mondays (unless it's a public holiday).
  • How to Book Your Tickets: You'll need to book in advance (up to 7 days early) on Trip.com or the Palace Museum’s official website. Don't forget to bring your passport (for international travelers) to get in!

The place is incredibly beautiful from an architectural standpoint; it feels like you're in a historical drama. Many people come in traditional clothing and jewelry, which adds to the atmosphere. The grounds are large but somewhat monotonous, with repetitive halls and few interior details to admire—only the exterior. The grounds are crowded, but that's typical. I especially recommend checking out this palace from the park on the hill behind it!

A must-see place in Beijing. I also recommend visiting the nearby Jingshan Park, whose top offers a magnificent view of the Forbidden City.

3. The Temple of Heaven

  • Highlight: An ancient imperial complex where emperors once prayed for bountiful harvests—it’s iconic for its circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. You can visit it as part of Trip.com’s complimentary “Highlights Half-Day City Tour” during your layover.
  • Best Time to Visit: Early morning (to catch locals practicing tai chi) or late afternoon (when the golden light hits the buildings just right).
  • How to Book Your Tickets: Snag your tickets on Trip.com (and skip those long on-site queues!) or buy them right at the gate (they accept cash or online payment).

A beautiful place, pleasant to visit and truly magnificent. 🏯✨ The only slight drawback: it's not clearly indicated that entry is free for those 60 and over, even for foreign visitors. We had bought our tickets in advance, but on arrival, with our passports, entry was free! This information really needs to be made much clearer.

There were a lot of people, despite the fact that it was Friday, but due to the huge number it was not possible to fully enjoy the Temple of Heaven. Perhaps you need to come either early in the morning or later in the evening.

4. Universal Studios Beijing

  • Highlight: Looking for a dose of pure fun after soaking up the history? This is your spot! It’s a world-class theme park featuring seven immersive zones, including Harry Potter’s Hogsmeade—where you can hop on the Hogwarts Express and sip on some butterbeer—plus Transformers Metrobase and Jurassic World. Whether you’re traveling with family, your partner, or you’re just a huge fan of movies and adrenaline-pumping roller coasters, this place is an absolute must-visit.
  • Best Time to Visit: Aim for a weekday (Tuesday–Thursday) to dodge the weekend rush. Early spring (March–April) or late autumn (October–November) are the sweet spots—the weather is pleasantly cool, so you won't be breaking a sweat while waiting in line for rides. Definitely steer clear of public holidays (like Chinese New Year), when wait times for popular attractions can easily stretch to 2–3 hours.
  • How to Book Your Tickets: Snag your tickets directly on Trip.com—they frequently offer awesome package deals (think “ticket + hotel near the park” or “fast pass bundles”) that can save you a bundle!

A visit to Universal Park in Beijing is an unforgettable experience! The park's atmosphere is simply stunning, with every detail thought out. I was very impressed with the rides—they are modern and exciting. The only thing to keep in mind is the lines. Even on weekdays, they are huge, with waits of over an hour to get on some rides. Therefore, I recommend purchasing a fast track pass—it will save you a significant amount of time and allow you to enjoy your visit to the park even more.

Universal Park Beijing took me back to my childhood. The Harry Potter zones are amazing, and it's like being inside the movie with your favorite characters! To avoid long lines, head straight to the Harry Potter zone as soon as you enter the park. We were able to complete the main attraction in just 20 minutes!

After visiting the main historical sights in Beijing, we decided to go to Universal Park. The kids absolutely loved it! We spent the whole day there and didn't want to leave. :) The lines for the rides were, of course, huge! And we didn't have time to try them all... We looked at the queue time on the app and went there. :) After the Transformers, all the other rides weren't scary. The Kung Fu Panda area was nice and cool. We took a boat ride on the river and rode the carousel. The Minions ride had a very long wait and was very quick (over an hour for a 2-3 minute ride), but we still enjoyed it. :) We went to Hogwarts in the afternoon; the lines had shortened a bit by then and the wait wasn't so hot. Very atmospheric! At the end of the day, we went to the castle and flew around chasing the Snitch. :) After leaving the ride, we watched a show on the castle walls. And, of course, we went to the parade; the kids happily greeted the panda and tigress. It was a great day! I recommend visiting!

The hotel has a nice and friendly old Charme. It was built in 2008. So it's a new hotel built with old style. The rooms have been clean. The service was friendly. The area is great, close to the main shopping street and tourist attractions. Anyhow the interior has reached some age. Carpets show colorized spots, the swimming pool missing tils. And during a heavy July rain parts of the front roof parted.

Five-star review! I stayed at the Sofitel Beijing Central for four consecutive days, and my overall experience was extremely satisfying. The location is excellent, close to Jianguomen subway station, making it very convenient to get to Wangfujing, Tiananmen Square, and the National Museum. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, so I rested very well. The front desk staff were warm and polite, and their service was prompt and responsive; communication was smooth whenever I had a request. The hotel environment is quiet and elegant, and the facilities are well-maintained. Traveling with children, staying here made getting around and sightseeing worry-free and convenient. It's a great choice for exploring urban Beijing, especially since the young lady at the Chance hotel front desk upgraded our room for free and gave us a breakfast voucher for one adult and two children for one day, considering our late arrival. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Beijing – it truly exceeded my expectations!

I've stayed at the Aviator Hotel Beijing for multiple business trips to Sanyuanqiao, and it's always my go-to choice. What impresses me most are the exceptionally well-maintained facilities and the excellent front desk service, especially from Heyao and Linyan. It's an older five-star hotel, but they do an outstanding job with upkeep. The rooms are very spacious, the water pressure is stable, and you get hot water instantly without having to let it run. There are plenty of power outlets and USB ports conveniently located by the bed and desk. The curtains offer great light blocking. The mattress and bedding are high quality, and they offer two types of down pillows (soft and firm). The central air conditioning maintains a very precise temperature, so it's never too hot or too cold. Plus, there's ample parking. The overall facilities are mature and reliable, built with solid materials. Both the in-room amenities and the public recreational facilities far exceed those of other hotels in the same price range and location. I can't find a single fault with the hardware; it's truly the top choice for business travelers.

I had an exceptional stay at this hotel in Beijing. From the moment I arrived, the staff provided warm, professional, and attentive service that made me feel truly welcome. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with comfortable bedding and stunning views of the city. The hotel’s facilities were outstanding, especially the breakfast selection, which offered a wide variety of delicious local and international dishes. The location was also perfect, making it easy to explore Beijing’s major attractions while still enjoying a peaceful and luxurious environment. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail and the genuine hospitality shown by every member of the team. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beijing for business or leisure. The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' walk from Wangfujing. There are many snack shops, restaurants and a few hair salons next to and in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, assisting us with hailing a taxi and showing us how to get to the various attractions. The hotel even provided a small map to guide us on foot to and from the Palace Museum. Very special is this hotel very family friendly, the have connecting room for the family to stay in, for us, we can take care of our girls without open the door and go to another room. The daily housekeeping was very thorough. The female housekeeper responsible for our rooms 715 and 716 was particularly friendly, attentive, and responsible. My daughter accidentally spilled soy milk on the carpet and bed; I informed her, and she promised to handle it. When we returned to the room that evening, the carpet and bed were spotless, without any smell or stains. We were very satisfied with the hotel's service. Staying at the Orange Crystal Hotel in Wangfujing for my Beijing Forbidden City photoshoot was the perfect choice! The location is unbeatable, right on Wangfujing Street, with direct walking access to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It's also super close to the Wangfu Century Ancient Style Makeup Studio, so after getting my Qing or Ming dynasty look done, I could head straight into the park for photos – everything flowed incredibly smoothly. The hotel was exceptionally generous with complimentary bottled water; I've stayed in countless hotels and never seen so much provided, so I didn't need to bring any of my own. The lobby amenities were thoughtful and complete, with a 24-hour self-service coffee machine and even building blocks for kids. It really maximized comfort for traveling with elderly family members and children. This is definitely my top choice for travel and photography trips!

The hotel's location is fantastic, right in the New World Department Store building, with Chongmun Station on Subway Line 5 just downstairs. There are numerous large shopping malls nearby, lots of great restaurants, and it's convenient to get anywhere. The room's cleanliness was also very good. I particularly liked their hairdryer; it's very powerful, which is great for people with long hair. The only thing I was unhappy with was their internet 🛜 – it's really bad and often disconnects, especially in the bathroom. As soon as you enter, the Wi-Fi drops. The hotel environment is decent, clean enough, but nothing to write home about. Its biggest advantage is the excellent location; it's just a few minutes' walk to the subway station, making it super convenient for commuting and sightseeing. The hotel's location is its biggest advantage, situated right in the heart of the Guomao CBD, making it incredibly convenient for business travelers. However, I'm not sure what event Mercedes-Benz was hosting, but the lobby area on the first floor was swarming with their staff, making it impossible to find a seat on the sofas. It was very crowded and made waiting for a taxi a terrible experience. The guest rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy, with soft bedding and good soundproofing. It offers great value for money, perfect for both business travel and short getaways. We'll definitely choose this place again for our next trip – highly recommended!

This was my first time staying at the Park Plaza. We came because my child had an exam at the Academy of Arts and Design's attached high school. When we arrived, I didn't even realize there was a hotel next door. What drew us in was the parking lot we spotted as we drove by, and it was indeed very close to the school. The security guard at the entrance confirmed there was plenty of parking, and we were impressed to find both above-ground and underground spaces. So, we decided to book a room. The price was reasonable, not expensive at all, and the hotel had everything: a restaurant, breakfast, and a gym. Stepping into the lobby, it was bright, and a pleasant aroma filled the air, immediately giving us a holiday vibe and easing our nerves. The young lady at the front desk was incredibly warm and thorough during check-in. She double-checked our late checkout request multiple times to ensure it was fine. Knowing we were there for our child's exam, she even extended our checkout to 3 PM, which was a very rare and thoughtful gesture. Despite many students and parents checking in, it never felt crowded. The elevators were fast, room service was prompt, and the little robot delivering items was adorable and busy. The room itself was spacious and clean. The first night, the hot water in the bathroom wasn't very hot, possibly due to a high number of guests, but the bathtub was very comfortable, and the bedding was cozy. There was a slight creak when turning over, but it was acceptable. Staff were quick to respond to any extra requests. Parking was free after registering at the front desk. Overall, the value for money is good. I recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay.

As a star-rated hotel, the sense of luxury is absolutely top-notch, and the experience was fantastic. The location truly deserves praise; it's incredibly convenient for getting anywhere. You can walk to Metro Lines 5 and 1, making travel completely effortless. Just 50 meters to the left from the hotel entrance, there's a shopping mall with so many shopping and dining options that it's hard to choose. All your shopping and eating needs are easily met~ The room was an even bigger surprise. It was exceptionally spacious, bright, and well-lit. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an excellent view; lying down and admiring the scenery was incredibly comfortable. The facilities were also comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept like a baby, straight through till morning – the relaxation was first-class. Breakfast is also worth mentioning. There was a rich variety of both Chinese and Western dishes, with plenty of choices, making every morning meal very satisfying. The staff were consistently warm and polite, always thinking of the guests, and their service was incredibly thoughtful. They definitely deserve a big thumbs up! I had such a pleasant stay these past few days. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit~

Changping Town/Shisanling Resort Beijing|40.96km from city center
This is our third time staying at Marriott Beijing Changping, and this time we opted for the 'Flying House' themed family room. The room features a bunk bed with a slide, which completely captivated our child, keeping them entertained for a long time. The room is well-equipped with children's amenities, including a baby toilet seat, a step stool, toiletries, and bathrobes. The only downsides are some safety concerns: the stone edges of the indoor hot tub are very sharp and lack corner protectors, and the upper bunk's guardrail is quite low, requiring parents to closely supervise their children. The hot spring area offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pools, all clean, with different depths, slides, and ball pits. The water temperature is perfect for kids, satisfying their desire to play in the water. The indoor kids' play area feels a bit old, with many damaged soft mats on the floor. There were no staff members supervising or assisting during playtime, so parents with young children should definitely accompany and watch them closely. The hotel is conveniently located next to Wanda Plaza, which has plenty of dining options and children's entertainment.

I stayed at the Kempinski for a local getaway, and overall it was a great experience. On the day I checked in, the male manager at the front desk even upgraded my room! The in-room facilities are quite new, apparently recently renovated. For its location in Beijing, it offers excellent value for money. The bed was also a super king-size, 2 meters wide, and very comfortable to sleep on. The next day, I came back late after running errands, and the hotel was kind enough to extend my check-out time. The hotel also has a brewery and a very famous bakery. If you pay a deposit upon check-in, you can enjoy discounts there. I ate a lot of bread and cakes over these two days, and it was also very pleasant to have a drink at the brewery in the evening! The overall experience was fantastic. I'll definitely stay here again next time!

I frequently stay at this hotel, but this time was a huge disappointment. The front desk staff who checked me in made the whole experience very unpleasant. First, parking costs money, up to 80 yuan. Second, they still require a deposit – seriously, who still does that these days? Third, you have to go down to pick up your own food deliveries. Fourth, there wasn't enough hot water. And finally, the soundproofing is terrible; you can clearly hear conversations from the next room.

I had the chance to experience this 'classic' renowned hotel, and I found it quite good. Although it's a bit old and some of the facilities are dated, especially in the apartment rooms, the cleanliness is commendable and the service is excellent. The apartment rooms, despite their traditional decor and older equipment, are spacious and well-suited for families. The standard rooms have been renovated with a more modern style and contemporary amenities. While smaller, they are very comfortable to stay in. I specifically requested a high floor for a better view! I also sampled the food at 'Changan One' and 'Tea Source,' ordered a birthday cake from 'Su Yuan,' and tried the breakfast buffet. All were very satisfying. The Kung Pao Chicken at Changan One was particularly unique, and the fried chicken wings at Tea Source were similar to spicy fried chicken. The breakfast offered a rich variety, and the freshly prepared dishes were great. I was especially pleased with the gym and particularly the swimming pool. I went for a swim in the morning when it was less crowded. The pool is very large, making for a pleasant swim, and there's also a massage pool, dry sauna, and wet sauna, perfect for relaxation. I'd definitely bring my family back for a weekend getaway if I get the chance.

This stay truly exceeded my expectations! I happened to check in on my birthday, and I was so touched by how thoughtful the hotel was. 1. **Surprise Upgrade**: When the front desk staff (they/them) found out it was my birthday, they proactively upgraded my room. That feeling of being quietly looked after was simply wonderful. 2. **Personal Touch**: The room was decorated for my birthday, and the handwritten card really stood out. The handwriting was neat and sincere, completely unlike a generic printed template. It instantly made me feel a sense of belonging. 3. **Flawless Service**: From check-in at the front desk to the concierge's guidance, every single staff member was incredibly friendly and professional. Their warmth and expertise made me feel so welcome. Not only are the facilities excellent, but the soft skills in their service are also impeccable. Thank you for giving me such a memorable birthday. Next time I'm in the area, this will definitely be my first choice! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My child chose this hotel for their college entrance exam because of its proximity to Luhe High School. We were very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel's service throughout the exam period. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, even delivering takeout directly to our room. The cleaning staff were also very thoughtful. The hotel also offered a refrigerator for storing items, and ice was provided for cold drinks. The freshly ground coffee from the front desk was also very fragrant and refreshing. Most of the guests during the exam period were students and parents, and the environment was very quiet, which was conducive to students studying and resting.

My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing was absolutely perfect, earning a full five-star review! I experienced both the main building and the traditional courtyard rooms. The location is superb, right next to Wangfujing and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel's design is truly unique and thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the amenities are high-quality and smell wonderful – every detail shows great care. Our butler, Willow, provided attentive and thoughtful service; she was warm, polite, and perfectly balanced, never being intrusive. The breakfast spread was extensive, featuring both authentic Beijing specialties and delicious Western options. The afternoon tea was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. This is definitely the top luxury hotel to stay at when visiting Beijing. Highly recommended!
