  • One-night hotel stay: A standard room in Shanghai is provided free of charge for one night.
  • Free airport transfers: It also offers scheduled shuttle service to pick you up from the airport, transporting you safely to the hotel, and returning you to the terminal the next day.
  • Complimentary breakfast the next morning: Usually a buffet, including Chinese options like buns and congee, as well as Western choices such as bread and coffee.

Situations where additional charges may occur

How to Apply for a Free Transit Hotel by China Eastern?

You must book at least 72 hours before your first flight. The most reliable way is through the official China Eastern mobile app:

Step 1: Download the official app and switch language

Search for “China Eastern” in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Open the app, switch the language to English, and set the region to United States.

Step 2: Register and log in

Create a Eastern Miles account using your email or a U.S. phone number (remember to include the +1 country code).

Step 3: Link your itinerary

In the app’s “My Trips” or “Booking” section, enter your ticket number (starting with 781) or 6-character PNR code, along with the name on your passport.

Step 4: Find the service and submit

Go to “Service Selection” or tap the “Transit Hotel” icon. The system will automatically check your eligibility for a PVG (Shanghai Pudong) transit. Click Apply and submit.

Step 5: Save your QR code

Within 24–48 hours, the app will show “Successful” and assign a hotel (e.g., Ramada or Linzhen). A confirmation page with a QR code will appear—screenshot it immediately and save it to your phone.
