China Southern Airlines Business Class
China Southern Airlines (CSAIR) Business Class offers a more spacious seat, priority airport services, lounge access on eligible flights, premium dining, and, on many wide-body aircraft, a fully flat bed. However, the experience varies considerably across the airline’s fleet. Its Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER, for example, feature 1-2-1 Business Class cabins with direct aisle access, while other aircraft use different layouts and seat specifications. For international travelers, checking the aircraft assigned to your flight is therefore important before booking. This guide covers China Southern Airlines Business Class seats, amenities, dining, lounges, baggage allowance, upgrades, and the key differences to know when comparing flights.

What Is China Southern Airlines Business Class?

What Is China Southern Airlines Business Class?

China Southern Airlines Business Class is the carrier's premium cabin for passengers who want more space and services than Economy Class. On applicable aircraft, the seat reclines fully flat, making the cabin particularly relevant for long-haul overnight flights.

The airline's long-haul Business Class service can include priority airport handling, lounge access where available, premium meals, bedding, personal entertainment, power outlets, and inflight Wi-Fi on equipped aircraft.

While China Southern is outside the SkyTeam alliance, having officially left SkyTeam on January 1, 2020, it continues to have individual partnerships and codeshare arrangements with other airlines.

China Southern Airlines Business Class Seat Map

China Southern operates several Business Class configurations, so the seat map for your specific flight is the best way to check the layout and seat features. The airline notes that seat maps are for reference and that aircraft or seat assignments may change for operational reasons.

Which China Southern Business Class Seats Have Direct Aisle Access?

The Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER configurations listed by China Southern use a 1-2-1 Business Class layout, giving every passenger direct access to the aisle.

It helps to check the 787-9 and A330 more carefully since China Southern operates different cabin configurations. If you're traveling alone and value privacy or don't want to climb over another passenger, look for a seat with direct aisle access on the seat map before selecting it.

China Southern Airlines Business Class Amenities & In-Flight Experience

China Southern Airlines Business Class Amenities & In-Flight Experience

Seats and Sleeping

A fully flat seat is one of the biggest advantages of China Southern Business Class on long-haul aircraft.

The A350-900, 787-9, and 777-300ER configurations listed by the airline all provide 180-degree Business Class recline. The airline also describes its 777-300ER Business Class seats as flat-bed seats designed for sleeping.

Because the airline operates several A330 cabin configurations, the Business Class experience can vary by aircraft. For example, the airline's A330-300 (33C) configuration has 30 Business Class seats, a 75-inch seat pitch, and seats that recline 180 degrees. China Southern also lists other A330 configurations with different seat layouts and specifications, so check the aircraft-specific seat map before booking.

China Southern's long-haul service also provides bedding for First and Business Class passengers. The airline lists a quilt, long mattress, travel pillow, and waist pillow for applicable long-range international flights.

Entertainment, Power, and Wi-Fi

Personal entertainment screens vary by aircraft. China Southern lists an 18.5-inch screen on its A350-900, a 16-inch screen on the 787-9, and a 15.4-inch screen on its 777-300ER Business Class cabin.

Power outlets and USB ports are available on the published A350-900 and 787-9 configurations, making them better suited to travelers who need to charge devices during a long flight.

The airline also provides complimentary inflight Wi-Fi on selected routes and flights. Business Class passengers are entitled to use the service without applying in advance, but Wi-Fi isn't available on every China Southern flight. The airline notes that the actual operating aircraft and aircraft registration determine whether the service is available.

Dining and Special Meals

China Southern's Business Class dining includes Chinese and Western options. Sometimes, menus vary by route, so it's helpful to check ahead of time. The airline highlights route-specific cuisine and premium dining on selected international services. Travelers with dietary, religious, or other special meal requirements should arrange this in advance.

The airline currently allows Business Class meals and special-meal reservations on eligible flights. For departures from mainland China, the booking deadline is usually 24 hours before departure. For flights departing from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, or other countries and regions, the deadline is 48 hours before departure. Not every flight offers every meal option.

For example, kosher meals are available only on selected flights and must be requested by the applicable deadline.

China Southern Airlines Business Class Lounge Access

China Southern Airlines Business Class Lounge Access

Eligible Business Class passengers can use China Southern's Sky Pearl VIP lounges at airports where the airline provides Business Class lounge facilities.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is particularly important because it is one of China Southern's major hubs. The airline lists separate domestic and international Sky Pearl VIP lounges at Terminal 2. The international lounge includes facilities such as dining, shower rooms, sleeping rooms, a nursing room, and baggage storage, although China Southern says actual facilities may vary on site.

The domestic Guangzhou lounge is also located after security in Terminal 2 and includes shower and sleeping facilities.

Lounge access can also be available through China Southern's Sky Pearl Club elite status, even when a passenger isn't traveling in Business Class. Elite benefits vary by membership tier, so travelers shouldn't assume that all lounge access rules are identical for Business Class passengers and frequent-flyer members.

China Southern Airlines Business Class Baggage Allowance

China Southern Airlines Business Class Baggage Allowance

China Southern's baggage allowance depends on whether you're flying domestically within China or on an international or regional itinerary.

For domestic China flights, Business Class passengers receive 30 kg of free checked baggage. On international and regional itineraries, China Southern's general Business Class fares, including Business Full Flex, Business Flex, and Business Standard, allow two checked pieces of up to 32 kg (70 lb) each, with each piece measuring no more than 158 cm in total linear dimensions. The airline notes that the specific allowance shown on your ticket takes precedence.

One carry-on piece weighing up to 8 kg is permitted for Business Class. The airline also permits certain small personal items, such as a computer bag, camera bag, briefcase, or handbag, subject to its applicable conditions.

Because China Southern publishes different baggage information on some of its webpages, travelers should check the baggage allowance displayed on their individual ticket before departure, particularly if the itinerary includes a codeshare or another operating carrier.

The biggest practical difference between Economy and Business Class on a long-haul itinerary is the combination of a larger seat, priority airport services, lounge access, and the ability to sleep on a fully flat seat on equipped aircraft.

China Southern also has Premium Economy on selected aircraft and routes. However, the airline notes that on international routes, its Premium Economy cabin is referred to as Economy Class for certain purposes, so travelers should check the exact cabin and fare displayed when booking.

How to Get a China Southern Airlines Business Class Upgrade

How to Get a China Southern Airlines Business Class Upgrade

China Southern's Sky Pearl Club lets eligible members redeem mileage for upgrades on qualifying China Southern flights.

Upgrade eligibility isn't universal. It depends on factors such as the original booking class, route, available upgrade inventory, and applicable Sky Pearl Club rules. The airline provides an award-upgrade system through its frequent-flyer program. Still, it's best not to assume that an Economy ticket qualifies for a Business Class upgrade. Check the fare class and upgrade conditions before purchasing a ticket specifically with an upgrade in mind.

China Southern also provides separate mileage redemption and elite-member benefits through Sky Pearl Club, so frequent travelers should check the current rules rather than relying on older SkyTeam-related information.

The Beijing New Otani Hotel is an established five-star hotel in Beijing, boasting a prime location near a subway station and a wide array of dining options, including Wangfujing. The hotel itself offers a buffet and a Chinese restaurant. Overall, the hotel is well-maintained. In our room, the shower had excellent water pressure and drained quickly. The bedding was soft, and most importantly, the service was exceptionally friendly. We were in a hurry to check out and accidentally left our charger and important cards in the room. Manager Wang Zhaofeng immediately helped us search for them, responding promptly and quickly sending us photos of the found items, which instantly put our minds at ease. She then arranged for expedited shipping to mail them back to us. This kind of heartfelt service, anticipating and addressing guests' urgent needs, is truly commendable. We visited the hotel's breakfast restaurant once, and the variety was extensive, with excellent taste, quality, and freshness. The restaurant service was also timely and enthusiastic, leaving us very satisfied, especially the excellent service from Runze and Xiao Cai Gege. The superior service from these staff members truly enhanced our stay.

The hotel was in a great central location. We loved the smart controls in the room which help with lighting and opening the curtains from the bedside. The rooms only downsides were a funny smell specific to our room from behind the fridge and the bathroom door which stuck so hard it needed to be pulled shut and made a lid noise when doing so, some oil should resolve this! Unfortunately when we arrived at 4:15pm from London our room was not ready which was very disappointing after a long trip. We had to wait another hour and go into the city to kill the time. Also everyone should note this hotel has one lift and no stairs, for a hotel with this many rooms this is simply not good enough. The staff use the same lift as does the cute delivery robot. This meant we spent way too much of our time existing for the elevator to down and up. Given we were on the floor above reception this would have been unnecessary if the stairs were accessible. This was a major issue for us and was the only thing that spoiled the stay. Other than this all was great.

🌟 Heartfelt hospitality in the heart of Beijing! Special thanks to Mike Wong and Hanson Wang for an unforgettable stay! Our stay at Peace Hotel Beijing (Forbidden City) left us with the warmest and most unforgettable impressions. The hotel is incredibly well-located right in the center of Beijing, within walking distance of the main attractions, making our sightseeing trips exceptionally convenient and easy.A special highlight was the lounge on the 19th floor where the club dinners are held. Dining with a glass of wine while enjoying the breathtaking, majestic view of the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park is an unparalleled pleasure! The atmosphere there is truly magical. However, the most valuable and outstanding feature of this hotel is how they treat their guests. We experienced not just a high standard of service, but genuine love, warmth, and true, deep hospitality that is so rare to find these days.We arrived at the hotel very early — at 8:00 AM, exhausted from our journey, and were mentally prepared to wait hours for check-in. To our amazement, we were not only greeted with a smile, but were given a room immediately, saving us from tedious waiting!I would like to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to Mike Wong and Hanson Wang. They took incredible care of our family. Mike personally showed us two excellent rooms to choose from, helping us patiently and politely. The room we fell in love with on the 17th floor was instantly handed over to us.It is because of such dedicated, caring, and professional employees like Mike Wong and Hanson Wang that the brand builds its flawless positive image, making guests want to return over and over again. I highly recommend that the hotel management recognizes both Mike's and Hanson's outstanding dedication and awards them a well-deserved bonus or promotion. They are a true asset to your team!Thank you so much for an impeccable welcome. We will definitely be back and recommend this amazing hotel with all our hearts!

It’s a very good hotel located in ideal location . It’s very near to forbidden city which is just few streets away. Many restaurants located nearby, like Si Ji Min Fu Peking Duck. You could get help from the hotel to get the queue number and waiting at the hotel room before your turn. It’s really save a lot of time. The daily breakfast was good , just that the serving plates or cups were found cracked or chipped , the hotel still use that for serving customers during breakfast .We were given free drink voucher and you gotta to get the voucher from the service counter daily. Free laundry and free robot delivery service . As there’s only one robot for food delivery to room, and during peak hour , you might need to go down to collect the food at the hotel counter yourself . And the room cleaning service is awesome and they helped us to clean the baggage and left us a message in sticky note when the job’s done. Kudos to the dedicated room cleaner. Many local Beijing snacks and cold drinks are served at the hotel lobby and they are free. When we’re checked out , we’re given a small free goodie bag to bring back home.

I specifically came to Beijing for a US visa appointment and chose Air China Boyue Beijing Hotel because it's close to the embassy. It's only a ten-minute walk, so I didn't have to rush to catch a bus in the morning. The room has an old-school, retro vibe with wooden furniture and warm yellow lighting; it felt really atmospheric as soon as I walked in. The bedding felt substantial, and the pillow was just the right firmness. I was exhausted from traveling the day before, but I slept soundly until morning. The air conditioning, hot water, and hairdryer all worked perfectly – no issues with outdated equipment, which sometimes happens in older hotels. Cao at the front desk was very down-to-earth and patiently answered all my questions. Yang Dan even proactively reminded me of a good time to arrive at the embassy, being genuinely helpful. Overall, my stay at Air China Boyue Beijing Hotel was very reassuring. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I apply for a visa.

I chose this star-rated hotel for my business trip, and it absolutely delivered on luxury—the experience was fantastic. The location deserves a special mention; it's incredibly convenient for getting around. You can walk to Metro Line 1 and Line 5, making travel effortless. Just 50 meters left from the hotel entrance is a mall with so many shopping and dining options, it's hard to choose—all your retail and food cravings are easily satisfied. The room was an even bigger surprise. It was incredibly spacious, bright, and well-lit. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view; lying in bed and enjoying the scenery was pure bliss. The amenities were comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept like a log, straight until morning—it was incredibly refreshing. The breakfast was also noteworthy, with a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options. I was very satisfied every morning. I had such a pleasant stay these past few days that I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

This hotel offers pretty good value for money, with an excellent location and affordable prices. While the facilities are a bit old, they are well-maintained. However, the customer service and the female front desk staff were quite subpar. They were unwilling to offer room upgrades or late check-outs, which was disappointing. I hope they improve, as it would be a shame to waste such a great location and the efforts of most of the other staff members.

The hotel is a bit old, and my room had no window, with a faint smell of smoke drifting in now and then. There was also a persistent, stale plastic odor in the room. These were the only downsides. The service, however, was genuinely excellent. The housekeeping staff were diligent, enthusiastic, and always ready to help. The same goes for the restaurant staff. The hotel's restaurant offered a rich variety for breakfast. The Napoleon cake, daifuku, and other cakes from Gongzhiwei Bakery were all incredibly delicious. However, it was a significant oversight that there was no timely notification or announcement about the hotel's swimming pool being under maintenance.

Facilities: The kids' playground was a bit disappointing. One slide was under maintenance, and there was no trampoline, just building blocks and such – not much to play with. It was worse than what I expected from a family-friendly hotel's children's facilities. The pool was great and clean. The hot spring pools were also a lot of fun. However, the outdoor area only opens at 10:30 AM and the slides close around 5 PM. In Beijing's summer, it's impossible to play when it's at its hottest; you'd get roasted. And it closes before it even gets dark. It's a bit of a shame that we couldn't fully enjoy the outdoor slide pool. Cleanliness: Clean. Service: Very good and enthusiastic. Kevin, our butler, helped us solve all sorts of problems throughout our stay. Many thanks to him. Environment: Right next to Wanda Plaza, so no worries about food and drinks. It was very convenient. The hotel lobby bar was also good, with decent standards.

Parking is quite convenient, and the service is good too. After all, it's CTS (China Travel Service), they really know how to run things. You can choose from various pillows, like buckwheat, which is a nice touch. The ice cream and pasta at the Western restaurant are also delicious. I stayed here last month, and this time they upgraded my room when I rebooked – much appreciated! The breakfast view is nice; you can see the 3rd Ring Road from the window seats. I booked an Executive King Room, and the hotel upgraded me to a suite, which I then upgraded myself to their signature panoramic view room. The view was excellent, offering a 270-degree view from three sides, directly facing the bustling Sanlitun Taikoo Li commercial district. This is one of Beijing's most vibrant areas, with many events, such as the outdoor fashion week happening right downstairs during my stay. The hotel's location is superb, surrounded by malls, bars, and restaurants. There's a constant flow of people and traffic throughout the day and well into the night. The InterContinental Club on the 22nd floor offered morning tea and afternoon tea with fewer crowds and excellent service – even more welcoming and attentive than other hotels. The gym and swimming pool were both good and not crowded at all. The emotional value of standing by the window in the panoramic view room and enjoying the scenery was truly immense. The downside, however, is the price; I wouldn't have been able to afford it if the hotel hadn't given me a discount. Also, the electric curtains on the front and both side panoramic windows are linked, meaning that most of the time, to block out the view of the neighboring guest room from one side, the other panoramic curtain also has to be closed, which is quite frustrating. It would be better if they were manual curtains instead.

Tips for Booking China Southern Airlines Business Class

Tips for Booking China Southern Airlines Business Class
  • Check the aircraft first. This is the most important step. A 1-2-1 A350 or 777-300ER cabin gives every Business Class passenger direct aisle access, while other configurations offer a different experience.
  • Check the seat map before selecting a seat. China Southern operates several wide-body configurations, and the published layouts are subject to change.
  • Look at the baggage allowance attached to your ticket. The general international Business Class allowance is generous, but codeshare and itinerary rules can differ.
  • Arrange special meals in advance. If you need a vegetarian, religious, medical, or other special meal, don't wait until boarding. China Southern's deadlines vary by departure location.
  • Check Wi-Fi availability before relying on it for work. Business Class passengers can access China Southern's inflight Wi-Fi without applying, but the service is available only on selected equipped flights.
  • Allow additional time for connections in China. If you're connecting through Guangzhou or another Chinese airport, check your complete itinerary and connection requirements. Having a Business Class ticket doesn't automatically eliminate certain transfer procedures.
