Traveling to Guangzhou this time, I brought a friend along and we stayed at the Jianguo Hotel Guangzhou – it was definitely the right choice! The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for getting around. It's close to the East Railway Station, which makes sightseeing or transferring transportation hassle-free. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the overall environment is quiet, and the staff are warm, polite, and responsive to any issues. As for the hotel's dining, you absolutely must try the handmade dim sum at the restaurant on the fourth floor. It's authentic Cantonese flavor, freshly made by hand, and tastes great. Sitting there with friends, slowly sipping tea and chatting, creates a wonderful atmosphere. The buffet at the Western restaurant on the second floor also exceeded expectations – a rich variety of dishes, fresh ingredients, and excellent taste.
Everything from dining to accommodation can be conveniently arranged at the hotel. I would choose this place again whether for a business trip or a vacation. If you're visiting near Guangzhou East Railway Station and want to experience authentic Cantonese morning tea, I sincerely recommend this hotel!From€54

Stephanie from guest relations provided exceptional service; the front desk check-in was quick and friendly, and she even proactively arranged a quiet room and a late checkout for me. Garden Hotel has a history of over 40 years. In fact, it's not just a hotel; it has witnessed the development of several generations in Guangzhou. I remember as a child, living nearby, visiting Garden Hotel felt like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden, haha. If it weren't for the guided tour, I would never have known so many secrets hidden within Garden Hotel.
First, the murals at Garden Hotel are truly worth studying. The mural at check-in, made of gold leaf, depicts nine scenes from 'Dream of the Red Chamber,' and each scene can be interpreted in the Garden Hotel's museum. The mural at the entrance, with its yin and yang elements, is a feng shui array. Combined with the caisson ceiling design in the lobby, which is similar to the dragon-patterned caisson ceiling in the Forbidden City, it's clear to see the thoughtfulness and wisdom of the designers when the hotel was built. The details of the garden waterfall and landscaping are also exquisite. And the restaurants have endless stories to tell.
Just the hotel's museum alone is worth a visit, as it bears witness to a unique historical and cultural heritage. The hotel rooms have been renovated, but the twin room is actually very cramped, and the furnishings are indeed old-fashioned. Compared to a modern twin room costing 500 yuan, it might not even be worth this price. The complimentary breakfast is also just average. However, the hotel staff's service makes you feel like you're basking in a spring breeze. Foreigners still really like it, after all, Garden Hotel represents Guangzhou's economic rise and a gathering place for Chinese culture.From€131

This is a classic hotel in the heart of Guangzhou, and its location is really good. The exterior also looks quite grand. The rooms are spacious, and the views from them are very nice. You can also go up to the 63rd floor for an even better view. Breakfast was decent, but it was a shame that during my three-day stay, the noodle station only had a chef on the last morning. I found the front desk service quite subpar. I waited in line for ages, and several male receptionists kept ignoring me or shunting me to a different queue. They were busy chatting casually with the guests in front of them and didn't bother calling the next person. They spent half an hour on pointless conversation, and it felt like it would never end. I was so annoyed waiting that they finally called out a female receptionist from the back to help me with my room card. Also, in the lobby, we were dragging our luggage around, and no staff member came over to offer assistance. Overall, I felt there was hardly any service.
There's no self-service laundry room, which I think is a significant drawback. Since there are no room service robots, I had to go up and down to collect my food orders every time, which was a real hassle.
The room hygiene was good, but I find it incredibly stingy for a five-star hotel to charge for a tiny bit of coke and other items in the minibar. Many hotels now offer complimentary minibars.
To sum it up: excellent location, outdated facilities, and a poor service experience.From€99

The room was spacious, and there were golf carts available for pick-up and drop-off. We had a dedicated butler providing one-on-one service. The kids' club, billiards, table tennis, gym, and laundry room were all free to use. What surprised me most was the hot spring – although there were only about 5 or 6 pools, they were great for relaxing after a swim. The pool was very clean, and the water temperature was fine in early autumn, though I imagine it would be too cold for swimming later in the fall. The environment was lovely, with lush greenery, plenty of negative ions, and a central lake. Breakfast was a buffet, and quite extensive. I would have given full marks for everything up to this point, but then someone brought a large dog into the dining area, and the staff didn't stop them. When the dog shook itself in the restaurant, I was horrified – I couldn't even bring myself to eat, feeling like the air was filled with dog hair. I suggest they create a special area for dogs, as sharing a dining space with them is truly unpleasant. I hope they improve this aspect! There are many farm-to-table restaurants nearby, and it's very close to Aranya.From€68

However, upon arrival, the overall environment and service far exceeded my expectations. The service attitude was definitely five-star quality; they even gave me a free room upgrade when they saw I was pregnant. There were plenty of hot spring pools, and the kids had a blast. Breakfast was decent, nothing special but perfectly acceptable. Overall, it was better than I expected. My room was a luxurious suite with private bath tub (around hkd 3000 for two nights including breakfast). Hardware is definitely exceptional. However when it comes to service it is below standard:
1) front desk - service was poor without any greetings such as bell boy. Front desk officers were unhappy without any eye contact when they talk to you. No hospitality at all;
2) breakfast - the quality both food and service were not up to a 4 or 5 star service. Table was not clean, staffs were almost unfriendly, except one female manager and one staff, all staffs were rushing their task and unwelcoming. I believe the hotel management need to motivate their staff ,otherwise, people won’t come again.
3) Amnenties - room is a luxurious suite with private bath tub, massage chair, kitchen , dining table and queen bed. The tub was not very clean, with water splitting . Such a waste as their service was not meeting the standard of what it is expected to be a 5- star resort. (The environment, garden were nicely decorated indeed) The Hot Spring pool is well known but I have’s try so cannot comment.
I won’t come to this resort again, if the service of the hotel haven’t improved. And I won’t recommend travelers with kids who is looking for a family friendly and good service resort.

The hotel looked better in the pictures than in real life! Honestly, the overall environment was decent, and there were several pleasant surprises during our stay, like the afternoon tea included in our package and the fruit platter specially provided at the hot spring. However, the downside was the hotel staff's somewhat aggressive upselling. They offered us a room upgrade but wanted an additional 80 yuan per hot spring tub (even though the room I booked already had a private tub!). Also, we had to pay extra for our child exceeding the limit, and this was only for a single entry (a multi-entry pass cost over 100 yuan per person, with no discount for hotel guests). What was even funnier was that each room was limited to 4 bottles of mineral water. We took 5 bottles the first night because we needed more water after using the hot spring, and then they wouldn't give us any more the next day! On checkout day, I wanted to take two bottles of water, but the front desk didn't even have any. Oh well, it's not like we're desperate for those two bottles. Overall, I'd say the hotel lacks generosity. I probably won't be booking here again!From€70

I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!

When I made the reservation, I noted that it was for a birthday celebration, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a cake and some small decorations for us. It perfectly reflects Hyatt's attention to detail and warmth. The room offers a clear view of Guangzhou's famous three towers, and the toiletries are Balmain, which are excellent. Aside from one staff member who seemed a bit stern, the other service personnel were all incredibly warm and polite, making us feel right at home. The food inside was also fantastic. Although the cocktails were a bit subpar, the overall experience was still very positive, earning high praise from both myself and my boss.

In the luxury hotel landscape of Guangzhou, Jumeirah has always been a understated player. It doesn't perch atop Guangzhou like Rosewood or Four Seasons, dominating with commanding tower views, nor does it possess the trending ambiance or master designs of Park Hyatt or Mandarin Oriental. Yet, without vying for attention, it consistently garners many excellent reviews.
I found its overall appeal to be comprehensive, warm, and attentive. I booked a unique duplex suite, but upon arrival at 4 PM, no room was immediately available. Instead of making me wait, the front desk immediately offered an upgrade to a two-level higher, Guangzhou Tower View Executive Suite. This initial upgrade was a pleasant surprise. James from the hotel explained their service philosophy to me, and I truly felt that sense of care and service dedication towards guests.
My 03-ending tower view suite was very spacious and well-laid out. The tower view was glimpsed through the gaps of the APM building, offering a somewhat veiled, 'pipa half-hidden' charm compared to a direct view of the Canton Tower. While the room's design isn't as distinct as MO or Rosewood, it prioritizes comfort, featuring wood, lattice, and orange accents that are still very appealing and comfortable.
The service was a highlight. From the doormen, lobby staff, front desk, to housekeeping, everyone was polite and smiling. Guest relations added me on WeChat and responded quickly. When I asked the gym front desk staff about the outdoor pool, they didn't just point the way; they enthusiastically escorted me, taking the elevator, changing floors, and walking through an entire floor to the apartment's outdoor pool.
The harp performance during breakfast was indeed delightful, and while the food variety wasn't extensive, it was exquisite.
Overall, Jumeirah truly surprised me this time, adding another excellent option for my Guangzhou staycations.From€273

The location is fantastic, my top choice for business trips!
Downstairs is Exit D of Yuexiu Park Station on Line 2, and if you walk west across the road, you'll reach Liuhua Station on Line 11.
To the north, you have the Canton Fair complex, and to the east, Yuexiu Park.
There's also a famous food street downstairs, along with plenty of coffee shops and dessert stores.
You can tell the hotel is quite old, with a dedicated exhibition hall on the first floor showcasing its history. However, apart from slightly lower ceilings and a retro decor, the rooms don't feel dated at all; it seems like it was renovated just a few years ago.
The breakfast selection is incredibly rich, offering both Chinese and Western options, plus a Middle Eastern section and a Japanese corner. The only downside is the poor quality of the beans for the freshly ground coffee, and the brewed coffee wasn't much better. It's hard to imagine a five-star hotel having such unpalatable coffee… The rooms only come with drip coffee and instant coffee. For a suite, I'd expect at least a capsule coffee machine.
The Executive Lounge is made up of small, individual rooms, so the ambiance is quite ordinary. The white wine was good, but if you have breakfast in the lounge, there are no live cooking stations and very limited choices, so it's better to go to the second floor.From€94

I arrived on the evening of September 30th, a day before the main tourist crowd, and the high-floor views were absolutely stunning! It wasn't too crowded yet, so the experience was excellent. From the in-room amenities to the quality of the room service, everything met high standards. However, once the National Day holiday officially started the next day and it got crowded, things started to go downhill.
Firstly, the elevators became difficult to catch. After exiting the elevator on the 70th floor, you were immediately met with a large, noisy, and chaotic crowd. It was hard to distinguish between guests and tourists, as many people were there just to take photos.
Secondly, the breakfast on the 72nd floor became exceptionally chaotic. It was incredibly noisy and crowded, and the staff seemed constantly overwhelmed. Orders were forgotten or missed; tea took forever to arrive, or we'd order two drinks and only get one. On the first day, when there were fewer people, plates were cleared promptly, but on the subsequent two days, hardly anyone came to clear them, so they just piled up on our table.
Turndown service was my favorite part. Coming back from outside to a clean and tidy room always made me feel happy, comfortable, and relaxed. It truly gave us that 'home away from home' feeling. Many hotels no longer offer turndown service, but Four Seasons still does. However, why wasn't it provided on our third night? Was it too busy? I had to call housekeeping to get extra towels and tissues, which was quite disappointing.From€293

I brought my family for a staycation at this hotel during the National Day holiday. A big thank you to Hillary for the warm welcome; all the staff were very nice. We stayed for a full day without leaving the hotel. On the first afternoon, we enjoyed the outdoor pool, and on the second morning, we played on the big lawn. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. For kids, the outdoor pool, large lawn, and some non-motorized play facilities were a hit. My 3-year-old was thrilled and said he wants to come back. For active kids, there's also a skate park right across from the hotel. As for the adults, I swam in the indoor pool. It wasn't crowded during the National Day holiday, which was very pleasant. I forgot my swimming goggles, but the water wasn't irritating to my eyes. The breakfast was up to five-star hotel standards, with a good variety of both Chinese and Western options. The hotel is a bit older, so the room facilities are slightly dated, but it's clear they are well-maintained. The other good aspects definitely make up for it. This hotel was perfect for attending Chen Chusheng's concert. It's just one subway stop from University Town, so getting back to the hotel quickly after the show was a breeze. A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. Both the floor staff and the ground floor attendants were very friendly. If you have time, you can also walk along the greenway on the island.
