Why Is Super Nintendo World So Famous?

Profile of Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto

Profile of Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto | From Adafruit Blog

About Mario

Mario was created by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto in the early 1980s. He is a plumber wearing overalls and a red hat.

Meanwhile, this game of "jumping, collecting, and clearing levels" left a deep impression on many people's childhoods. The pixelated backgrounds and colorful blocks were simply captivating.

The immersive experiences are really fun

Inside Super Nintendo World, you can tap on various blocks, question mark boxes, and interactive installations. Meanwhile, you'll see floating platforms, spinning coins, and even moving carnivorous plants!

The core spirit of adventure

Mario's optimistic, courageous, and ever-adventurous spirit perfectly aligns with the American cultural sentiment of "challenging the impossible." His vibrant color scheme—bright reds and blues—creates a playful and carefree visual impact. So it's easy to believe that this is why he's so appealing!

How to Get into Super Nintendo World Japan?

Now that you've bought your tickets, the very first step is done! Then, you need to figure out how to get to USJ.

Step 1: Getting from the Airport to Your City Center Hotel

Most international flights to Osaka depart from Kansai International Airport (KIX). You can choose from:

  • Train (highly recommended): Take the Nankai Railway to Namba Station. If you're staying in the Umeda area, you can transfer to the JR line.
  • Airport Bus: If you have a lot of luggage, the bus can take you directly to Umeda or some large hotels, but it's not as fast as the train!

Step 2: Getting to Universal Studios Japan (USJ)

No matter where you are in the city center, open a map app (Google Maps is very useful in Japan) and search for "Universal Studios Japan" or "Universal City Station".

  • Take the JR Line to Nishikujo Station.
  • Transfer to the JR Yumesaki Line directly to Universal Studios Japan Station.
  • Upon exiting the station, you'll see a charming pedestrian street.
  • Walk through this iconic shopping area for about 5 minutes, and you'll reach the entrance to Universal Studios Japan.

Step 3: How to "enter" at the entrance

Make sure you have your e-ticket (QR code) first.

  • Show your QR code: Before queuing to enter the park, save the QR code image of your e-ticket to your phone's photo album, or open the ticketing platform and show the QR code. Turn your screen brightness to maximum.
  • Scan the code directly: Simply scan your phone against the scanner. Once you hear a "beep" and the gate opens, you can go in!

Find your QR code in your Trip.com order confirmation email or on the Trip.com app order page.

  1. Open the official USJ app: Ensure you download the official "USJ" app.
  2. Click "eTicket": On the app's homepage, find and click the button labeled "eTicket" or "Register eTicket".
  3. Start binding: If the app interface has a "Scan" button, you can try scanning your QR code; if the scan doesn't work, click "Register" and select "Manual Entry". Enter your ticket ID obtained from Trip.com here.
  4. Save successfully: After binding, your ticket will appear in the "Registered Tickets" list in the app.

💡 Notes

  • Linking isn't mandatory! You can simply bring your printed ticket or show the QR code.

Blown away by the bakery downstairs! Not only do they have freshly baked bread, but also delicious and affordable food from the hotel restaurant. I loved how plentiful the hotel shuttle bus and taxis were! 😍 On our first night, we got an upgraded room. While it was bigger, the toilet and shower were combined. Since we were traveling with an elder, I was concerned about the safety of climbing in and out of the bathtub. After speaking with the front desk, they changed us back to our original room type. The next day, the hotel staff even brought our luggage directly to the new room and helped set up the extra bed – I was so grateful! ❤️ The hotel is located in Nakanoshima, which is perfect for a city walk. I'll definitely stay here again next time!!

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.76km from city center
When I booked, I chose this place because it looked close to the subway. However, with luggage, it's at least a good ten-minute walk, so it's not as close as I hoped. It's not too far from the main shopping areas like Namba and Shinsaibashi, but not exactly close either. The room is tiny; it's hard to open a large suitcase. The strict 3 PM check-in policy is quite inconvenient. For 1500 (yen?) for three people, including breakfast, it's an acceptable deal.

Umeda Osaka|1.34km from city center
We booked a quad room for our family of four, and everyone got a great night's sleep. Shopping at department stores and drugstores was incredibly convenient, and there were plenty of dining options nearby. The picture shows our first meal, which we randomly picked on the 8th floor right below the hotel – it was delicious! The public transport nearby can take you to any attraction you want to visit. Both check-in and check-out were self-service and easy to use. Things to note: 1. Remember to ask the front desk for skincare products. 2. There's a microwave in the corner of the lobby for heating food. 3. For extra trash to be collected, you need to stick a yellow sticker (found behind the door) on the garbage bag. 4. There's no water in the room, but you can get drinking water in the lobby, or buy it daily from FamilyMart downstairs. Oh, and the direct airport bus service is really a big plus! I'm not a travel expert, but following a guide made everything straightforward. I saw mixed reviews for this hotel, but I still wanted to share my genuine experience for others' reference. It's a hotel that can really save you travel time, and I'd definitely choose it again next time I'm in Osaka.

Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|3.29km from city center
My stay at Hotel Nankai Osaka truly exceeded my expectations! 🥰 The hotel is right next to Namba Station, just a three-minute walk after exiting, which is incredibly convenient whether you're catching a train or heading to Shinsaibashi for shopping. The room was spotlessly clean, and the amenities felt high-quality. With the windows closed at night, I could barely hear any outside noise, so I slept very soundly. The breakfast offered a great variety, and the freshly made ramen and omelets were delicious. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful, always ready to answer questions, and check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Osaka.

Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|3.53km from city center
This hotel popped up as the top result when I searched for hotels in Osaka on Ctrip, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. The location is excellent – not far from the airport express line and several subway stations, plus it's within walking distance to Nihonbashi, Shinsaibashi, and Dotonbori, which is super convenient. The hotel has a good number of rooms, and what's particularly great is that there are many twin rooms with ample space. Each room comes with a microwave, a fridge, and a table. We mostly ate breakfast in our room, buying milk, salads, bread, and rice balls from the nearby 7-Eleven, which was cheap and easy. There's also plenty of space to hang clothes, and they provide a generous supply of hangers – a must-have for washing clothes daily in the summer. On the fifth floor, there's a self-service laundry room, and on the sixth floor, a shared 'kitchenette' where you can do some simple cooking and get water, which was very handy. The rooms also include disposable amenities like toothbrushes and shower caps.

This is my second stay here, mainly because the location is super convenient for transportation and shopping. It's right by Kintetsu Department Store, which is downstairs, and there are all sorts of delicious food options. Getting anywhere from here is a breeze. This time, I booked a room advertised as 24 square meters, but the actual experience was quite poor. It had an outdoor balcony, but the room itself was enclosed, so the balcony basically ate into the usable space, making the room feel very cramped. Plus, it wasn't cleaned properly; there was dust on the nightstand, which is really unacceptable for a five-star hotel. After discussing it with the front desk, they upgraded me to a 31-square-meter room. Their service attitude was still good. My advice for future bookings is to pay close attention to the room type. Also, they really need to improve their housekeeping.

My stay at Hotel Nikko Osaka was excellent. The hotel is directly connected to Shinsaibashi subway station via an underground passage, making transportation incredibly convenient. Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori shopping districts are just a short walk away, which made shopping and sightseeing hassle-free. The room was spotlessly clean, and the mattress was soft and comfortable, allowing me to fully relax after a day of exploring. All room amenities were complete, and the bathroom toiletries were well-stocked. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service, and check-in was very efficient. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including both Japanese and Western options, and the ingredients were fresh. The hotel's overall ambiance is elegant, and its location is superb. It's an excellent choice for both leisure travel and short business trips. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Osaka.

The room was a bit small, I booked a twin room for 2200 a night at the end of May. It was okay though, haha, the location is great, very convenient to get anywhere. It's right next to the station, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Hermes is right downstairs. Facilities: Quite new Cleanliness: Decent Ambiance: It's an older building, so a bit dated Service: Very good, I forgot my credit card and didn't have cash, but they still let me check in without a pre-authorization deposit.

Uehommachi/Tennoji/Southern Osaka Osaka|5.42km from city center
First off, I have to praise the location. The front desk is on the 19th floor, right above Kintetsu Department Store, and there's direct access to the subway connection underground, which is incredibly convenient. Being on a high floor, you get panoramic views of Osaka city. The hotel lobby is grand, and it's one of the few hotels in Japan that boasts such spacious common areas. Across the street is the MIO shopping center, and diagonally opposite is Q's Mall, with an Ito-Yokado supermarket and Tokyu Hands at its base. Plus, just down the alley next to the hotel, less than 100 meters past Mont-bell, you'll find Ichiran Ramen and more. My only complaint is that there was a strong, persistent urine smell in the room, oddly enough, the bathroom didn't have it. I initially thought about asking for a room change, but then I found out my friend's room had the same issue, so I gave up. I really hope the hotel addresses this.

Nakanoshima Osaka|0.83km from city center
The room itself is decent, though it might feel a bit cramped for two people. The location is quite good, right by what I'd call Osaka's 'Suzhou Creek.' There are many art museums nearby. However, if you're a woman walking alone at night, it can feel a bit deserted. If you plan on staying out late, a more central location might be better. I told the front desk I'm a light sleeper, but they still put me right across from the cleaning room, which was really annoying. I was woken up early in the morning by the noise. I've attached the shuttle schedule. I actually found it more convenient to take the bus to the art museum.

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.37km from city center
The location is great, easy to find, right between Kitahama and Yodoyabashi stations, near exit 20. It's super convenient to get to Umeda and Shinsaibashi. It's also very quiet at night. The front desk staff were really helpful and proactively assisted me with the self check-in machine. The lobby offers a wide selection of toiletries you can take as needed. The room wasn't huge; fitting three beds was a bit tight, but I could still open my 28-inch suitcase. The bedding hygiene could be improved; one of the beds had a blood stain, but since I brought my own sheets, I didn't bother telling the front desk. The buffet breakfast was quite varied and decent. The tofu beef soup was particularly delicious, though unfortunately, it was only served one of the three days I stayed. Overall, it lives up to its price point; I'd say it's good value for money.

Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|2.48km from city center
The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the subway station and consists of two buildings: the main building and an annex. The rooms aren't huge, but they're a good size for hotels in the same price range. They offer 24-hour hot water, coffee, drinks, and a microwave for heating food, which is great. Free luggage storage is also available. There's a Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk, so communication was seamless. Breakfast was decent too. The only downside, if I had to pick one, was the constant stream of tour groups. It's also just a 5-minute walk from the main shopping street in Shinsaibashi.

Right next to Shin-Imamiya subway station, so getting around is incredibly convenient. The front desk staff rotate, with two people on duty at a time, including locals, Chinese, Koreans, and Indians. There's a women's shower on the 4th floor, men's showers on the 6th, and a men's bathhouse and microwave on the 10th. Downstairs, there are convenience stores, pharmacies, and places to eat nearby. The room was super small, but quite clean, and they provided towels and plastic slippers. Because it's close to the train tracks, there's a bit of noise. Plus, there's some noise from motorbikes speeding by. I stayed for 3 days, and there was hardly any noise from other guests.
