Hutong Hotel Beijing

A high-rise hotel gives you a view of Beijing. A hutong hotel puts you inside it, behind a wooden gate and a grey brick wall, with bicycles and breakfast stalls in the lane outside your window. Most of these courtyard houses are now small hotels: some restored with real care, some run by families, a few close to luxury. Here is where to find the best hutong hotels in Beijing, and how to pick between them.

What Is a Hutong Hotel in Beijing?

What Is a Hutong Hotel in Beijing?

A hutong is a traditional narrow alleyway found in Beijing's old neighborhoods. Many are lined with siheyuan (四合院), traditional Chinese courtyard houses built around an open central space.

Today, some of these historic residences have been renovated into boutique hotels and guesthouses. They offer a chance to experience old Beijing while enjoying modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi, private bathrooms and comfortable bedding.

However, hutong hotels are often smaller than conventional hotels. Some have narrow staircases, limited parking and restricted vehicle access. Their appeal is the atmosphere and location rather than extensive facilities.

Modern Cozy Loft
The hotel is really cute and well furnished. I enjoyed making coffee from beans and sleeping in a loft. The breakfast in both restaurants is really nice. The walls are quite thin and noisy children or people sweeping in front of your room at 7 am (!!!) may cause you to lose sleep. Bring ear plugs. A bit expensive but highly recommended

The Orchid Lodge-with Theater
The location is absolutely fantastic, super great! Tucked away in a hutong, it offers a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. The room is surprisingly spacious; I was expecting it to be cramped given how precious space is in Beijing. Plus, you get discounts at several restaurants and bakeries near the entrance just by showing your room card!

The hotel is located in a historic area, offering the opportunity to stroll the streets and experience the locals' daily life. Our room was very cozy and beautiful, featuring wood, concrete, and glass. After a long flight, we arrived in the morning and were offered tea. The hotel checked us in early, for which we are extremely grateful, as we were very tired and didn't have the energy to sit for five hours. The staff is attentive, speaks English, and is always available. We are very happy with everything.

Had a wonderful stay at the Orchid. Staff were super friendly and attentive, they would check in on you everyday and provide suggestions and tips on local attractions based on your preferences. Room was clean and cosy with all the necessities and more. I wanted to stay in a hutong for this trip and so the location was perfect—nestled amongst local residences and businesses, yet close enough to tourist attractions. Would highly recommend. Also had 2 days of amazing middle-eastern inspired breakfasts at TOAST— one of their in house restaurants. Much better and more interesting than the usual hotel breakfast buffets.

After strolling down Yangmeizhuxiejie, we stayed at the Bajianfang Courtyard. With its grey brick corridors, vermilion window lattices, and exquisite carvings on every brick, it is full of authentic Beijing charm. Tucked away in a hutong, this hidden gem offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. This is our second time staying at Bajianfang with my spouse, and it has been newly renovated. The spatial layout is much better than our first visit. The owner is warm and thoughtful, and the showering and laundry facilities are very convenient. We still stayed in the Youzhu private courtyard. Both bathrooms have smart toilets. The room is full of Chinese style. We love it. We will definitely come again.

Amazing value for money! The courtyard-style (Siheyuan) decor is very unique and high-end. The owner is super nice and hospitable! The room is clean and comfortable, with relatively new facilities, and it's quiet despite being in a bustling area. It's close to Dashilar Commercial Street, Tiananmen, and other attractions. The location truly has an authentic Old Beijing vibe! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Beijing!

Very good location, very pitoresque and in a lovely part of the Hutong. Loads of food places and stores in the neighbourhood. Very charming hotel with charming and modern rooms. (Very Beijing-style, we liked the colours, paintings and Chinese lights). Good beds. Everything was very clean (except under the beds). They offer to clean every day if you want to. We have used the washer once which was nice. Also was a fridge and kettle in the room. Very sweet staff and willing to help with whatever. Also offered free coffee or tea in the lobby. Nice hotel lobby where you could sit down in the tearoom or upstairs on the veranda. Only downside was that the room was a bit skinny and the bathroom was not very conveniently sized. Maybe they could hang a shower curtain. It had a modern (Japanese) toilet though which was very nice. If I would go to Beijing again, I’d definitely choose this hotel. Very sweet staff that seem to be very hardworking. I’d give it a 4.5/5.

The environment is great, both inside the room and in the surrounding area. There's an art gallery at the entrance, and just a short walk out of the alley, Jingshan Park is right across the street. The Forbidden City is also very close by. I initially only booked one night because I was worried about the environment, but it was so comfortable that I extended my stay. The bedding was the softest and driest of all the hotels I stayed at in Beijing; it just felt incredibly clean. It's clean, quiet, has a great environment, and is in the city center, making it easy to get to the Forbidden City and the National Museum. Highly recommend!

Overall, we had a fantastic stay at Mandarin Oriental Qianmen,Beijing. The hotel has a very unique location right in the hutongs—it’s a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle, full of traditional old Beijing charm. The surrounding hutongs are also great for a casual stroll. The hotel's design and ambiance are very comfortable; especially on a sunny day, the sunlight streaming into the lobby is just gorgeous, and it’s so relaxing just to sit there for a while. From our arrival to our departure, the Duty Manager, Luke, took care of us. He was super nice, a pleasure to communicate with, and provided attentive service without being overbearing. There was a small hiccup during our stay, and he was very thoughtful in looking after our feelings, which was definitely a major plus. Overall, the stay felt very relaxing, thanks not only to the lovely environment but also to the comforting service. It’s an experience we’d love to repeat!

Although breakfast was semi-buffet style, its quality was quite impressive—a truly wonderful experience. Fantastic! If you're staying in Beijing for a while across a few different hotels, I highly recommend saving Mandarin Oriental Qianmen,Beijing for the very last. Otherwise, the drop in standards will be so huge you won't be able to stay anywhere else! I'm currently at the Wald... and everything feels so dated here... Stepping out of the hotel puts you right on Xixinglong Street, the newly trendy hotspot, making it super easy to just head out for a stroll at any time. The service at The Courtyard is also exceptionally attentive, and the sommelier was professional and meticulous! Every single detail in the room is designed with the guest in mind!! Thumbs up! The breakfast is quite good, though the first serving of the traditional meat pies (mending roubing) was delicious, while the second one tasted like it had been pan-fried alongside salmon—it was extremely fishy.. Butler Melody and the entire team provided attentive and warm service! They even went to help me queue up at Shilitiao! Had such a comfortable stay, it was completely carefree!! Every request was met with a prompt response!! I'll definitely be staying at Mandarin Oriental Qianmen,Beijing again next time I'm in Beijing!!!

I stayed in a courtyard hotel (Siheyuan) in Beijing for one night. It wasn't as good as expected and really didn't live up to the price. The facilities are far too outdated, and after taking a shower, I was shocked to step out and find the bathroom completely flooded! Moving around inside the room was also quite inconvenient. How to Get Around Beijing from a Hutong Hotel

Most popular hutong neighborhoods have access to Beijing's metro network, but the nearest station depends on your hotel.

  • Gulou and Nanluoguxiang: Gulou Dajie and Shichahai stations are useful for exploring the Drum Tower and nearby historic areas.
  • Shichahai and Houhai: Shichahai Station on Line 8 provides access to the lakeside area.
  • Dongsi: Dongsi Station, served by Lines 5 and 6, connects with several central districts.
  • Jingshan: Jingshan Park is best explored on foot, with nearby metro stations and bus connections depending on your destination.
  • Qianmen: Qiaowan and Zhushikou stations provide access to the wider Qianmen area.

For first-time visitors, walking and taking the metro are usually more practical than relying on taxis for every journey.

What to Know Before Booking a Hutong Hotel in Beijing

What to Know Before Booking a Hutong Hotel in Beijing

Hutong hotels offer a distinctive accommodation experience, but they can be quite different from modern international hotel chains.

Keep these points in mind before making a reservation:

  • Check Room Size and Facilities: Traditional courtyard buildings may have smaller rooms, limited storage and fewer facilities than modern hotels. Check room photos, bathroom arrangements and available amenities before booking.
  • Confirm Heating and Air Conditioning: Beijing winters can be very cold, while summers are hot. If you're visiting between November and March, confirm that your room has reliable heating.
  • Plan Your Arrival with Luggage: Some hutongs are narrow and inaccessible to regular vehicles. Your taxi may drop you at the nearest main road, leaving you with a short walk to the hotel.
  • Contact the property before arrival and ask for its recommended drop-off point.
  • Check Whether the Hotel Has an Elevator: Many traditional courtyard properties have only one or two floors and no elevator. If you're carrying large suitcases or traveling with older family members, ask about ground-floor rooms.
  • Book Early During Peak Travel Seasons: Boutique courtyard hotels usually have fewer rooms than large chain properties. They can sell out quickly during Chinese New Year, National Day Golden Week and the spring and autumn travel seasons.

Compare cancellation policies and reserve early if your dates are fixed.

This stay at the Sofitel Jian Guo Men left me with a great overall impression. Before arriving, I communicated with the duty manager, Eli, letting him know it was our first stay and that it coincided with our anniversary. Upon check-in, he immediately upgraded us to an Executive Floor room and had it specially decorated. The attention to detail was exceptional, and we were incredibly impressed from the moment we arrived. The first impression upon entering was excellent. The lobby had incredibly high ceilings and a grand, bright decor, completely avoiding the oppressive feeling you sometimes get in older hotels. The layout of the Executive Room was also quite interesting; it wasn't just a generic square box. The space was well-utilized, making it feel much more spacious than I had imagined. The service overall was hassle-free. Whether it was dealing with the front desk or requesting room service, any issues were addressed very quickly, with no need for back-and-forth. In the evening, I specifically went to the bar on the basement level. The bartender, Pamper, was very amiable. She asked about my preferred tastes, and the cocktails she made were perfectly to my liking. Overall, it's a hotel with excellent value for money and well worth staying at.

Free parking available, truly excellent value for money! The price is very reasonable, and just the parking savings alone made it totally worth it for a one-night stay. It made running errands outside so much easier and getting around was very convenient. The delivery robot is super handy—no running back and forth to the lobby. There's a self-service beverage machine on the first floor for easy refreshments anytime. Guests get free access to both the gym and the swimming pool, which is great for unwinding and shaking off the fatigue after a busy day of work. The breakfast offers a wide variety and the fruit is very fresh—a great way to fuel up comfortably before starting the day's itinerary. The front desk staff were all very warm and helpful, making communication a breeze, and the room was spotlessly clean. Any request we had was met with a quick response; they are reliable and efficient. Staying here for a business trip is just completely hassle-free.

Before booking, I read the negative reviews, which were mostly complaints about the service. After staying, I felt like this hotel was one giant obedience test. Upon entering the room, I noticed a strong smell from the air conditioning ducts. I picked up the phone and dialed 'one touch.' The operator transferred me to the front desk, who said they would get back to me shortly. 'Shortly' meant I had to call again to get any kind of answer. After changing rooms, the next day my room card stopped working. That's when I understood why there was a phone in the hallway. After calling, they said an auntie would come to help open the door. Ten minutes later, the auntie finally arrived. After opening the door, she said a concierge would bring a new room card later. Well, it never arrived within two hours. Eventually, when I went to pick up my takeout, I had to go to the front desk myself to get a new one. The tissues in the room ran out. The auntie replaced them with new ones, but just left the new pack on top of the tissue box instead of putting them inside. I don't understand that. There was a short black hair in the bathtub... The mini-bar was completely empty on the first night, possibly due to the room change. At breakfast, I opened a Chinese steamed dim sum, and there was a black hair inside... Breakfast ended at 10:30 AM, and many guests came at 10:35 AM to get coffee, but it was all gone...

This hotel was 10 out of 10 if anyone is looking to book hotel this one. They spoil me and my daughter the whole time from bringing us water to bring a snacks at night. They have the best customer service from the Front Desk to the maids and cooking staff. The bears were so comfortable you could just melt into them.If you want to go to convenience stores at seven minutes away if you wanna go to the McDonald’s, it’s like five minute walk. Or go down the street a little further down it’s a small mall but nice or you go across the street and they have any gifts you think you want to get for family members you can. Make sure you bargain. Everything was at least a good 25 to 30 minutes away. Hotel location is great. The grounds are so beautiful. Everything was kept nice totally clean. It’s not one bad thing I can say about this hotel but I know if I ever go back this is where I’m going.

When we arrived at this hotel, I hadn't even realized it was the one I booked until we pulled in front of the lobby. It was so nice I was amazed that it was ours for what we paid. Incredibly stunning interior and exterior. The rooms and service live up to the standard as well. Absolutely perfect stay in the northeast corner of Beijing and I do believe we will come back to stay here next time. The attendants at the front desk were incredibly helpful, especially the one guy who helped me order on dianping and put together a porridge the Beijing way. The gym was the best I've ever seen in a hotel. Stacked with equipment for strength training with a separate room for martial arts training. It was like having a commercial gym as part of your hotel stay for free. Genuinely one of my most pleasant stays in a long time!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The biggest plus point is definitely its fantastic location! The metro station is literally just outside the front door, making it extremely convenient to explore Beijing and visit the major attractions. There are plenty of shopping areas within a 5-minute walk. Glory Mall and New World Beijing Mall are both within walking distance. You can also find wonderful local food options just across the street. The rooms are good, the service is excellent, and the breakfast is also nice. However, for guests who don’t eat pork or beef, the breakfast choices are somewhat limited, although we found this to be quite common throughout China. Another plus for families is that children under 120 cm can enjoy breakfast for free. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The combination of comfortable rooms, good service, nearby shopping and restaurants, and especially the metro station right at the doorstep makes this hotel an excellent choice for families and tourists visiting Beijing. Highly recommended, especially for its unbeatable location!

There's a shopping mall right next door, which is very handy for dining and shopping. The hotel service was also good.

The room was comfortable and the location was great! It was near 2 subway stations along Line 5 and Line 8. We had an early morning tour to catch and requested for our breakfast to go. It was ready when we were there to pick it up. We had a issue with our bathroom (bad odour emanating) and the housekeeping dept resolved it rather quickly. We also had a welcome fruit platter on the second night of our stay. Although the furnishings looked a bit dated and worn, it did not affect our stay. The free laundry facilities was a big plus too. It was a value-for-money stay for our party of 3.

We loved this hotel! It was spotlessly clean, with stylish interiors and delicious food. There were plenty of options for both those who enjoy local cuisine and international guests looking for more familiar dishes. The location was excellent, with a Starbucks right nearby — a real bonus for us, as the coffee from local chains wasn’t quite to our taste. The Forbidden City was within walking distance, although we preferred wearing masks outside because of the air quality. Getting to Universal Studios by taxi took us around 40–50 minutes. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

The apex of Beijing, where the true heart of luxury beats! — A perfect stay at Kerry Hotel Beijing from July 25th-26th If Beijing is a flowing feast, then the Guomao CBD is its most dazzling stage, and Kerry Hotel Beijing sits right in the center of it. During this stay, I truly experienced what it means to “be amidst the bustle, yet privately enjoy luxury.” Arriving on the afternoon of the 25th, from the moment I stepped into the lobby, that grand sense of tranquility isolated me from the noise outside the window. The room was super spacious, and the floor-to-ceiling window offered an unparalleled city skyline view, with the CCTV Headquarters (the 'big trousers') and China Zun tower side-by-side. That feeling of having the imperial capital at your feet instantly made the room rate worthwhile! I must particularly praise the Kerry Club Lounge on the 18th floor! It was truly the highlight of my entire stay! The service from Ms. Lucy, Clara, and Seanna was simply delightful, making me feel incredibly welcome. The lounge's food, whether afternoon tea or evening happy hour, offered such a vast variety that it was hard to choose. The breakfast at 'Jia Pin Restaurant' on the morning of the 26th absolutely won me over—there were 7 ways to prepare eggs alone, plus fresh grapefruit. These kinds of details are truly a huge plus! Although I know this hotel is a representative of the 'old money' opened in 1999, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained. That sense of profound grandeur, refined by the passage of time, is a quality new hotels simply cannot replicate. The gym and heated swimming pool are top-tier for hotels in China, with huge spaces and comprehensive equipment. Even just a swim feels like a luxury. My two-day journey in the heart of luxury left me wanting more. Not only is the location unbeatable, but the service and dining are also exceptional! This is definitely the most 'aristocratic' hotel I've stayed at in Beijing, second to none! ♥️

COMMUNE BY THE GREAT WALL , IN THE UNBOUND COLLECTION BY HYATT has been famous for a long time. This time, having finally had the chance to visit the Great Wall during Beijing's most beautiful autumn, I booked COMMUNE BY THE GREAT WALL , IN THE UNBOUND COLLECTION BY HYATT right away. As soon as I entered the main gate, it felt exceptionally private, quiet, and very well-managed. Although some facilities are currently undergoing renovation and maintenance, it didn't affect the overall stay experience. I was assigned Red House No. 4, which has a total of 4 guest rooms, and 3 families checked in that day. Everyone shares public areas such as the terrace, living room, kitchen, and a small sitting room, while the bedrooms and bathrooms are completely independent. Although it was a bit different from what I expected, fortunately the other guests were quite considerate, and overall there wasn't much mutual disturbance. The bed linens, bathroom, and hot water in the room were all very good. The furniture is a bit dated, and there are quite a few bugs in the mountains, but none of these really had much of an impact. I was extremely satisfied during my stay, especially with our butler, Chen Yi, whose WeChat communication was prompt and thorough. After we left, the hotel housekeeping found a left-behind item during cleaning, proactively contacted me, and helped me mail it via courier. Thank you so much 🙏

At breakfast, the cups still had leftover dirt and weren't washed clean, and many plates were put out for guests to use while still wet. Plus, the dining area was freezing. As for the dinner buffet, the crab was served in a very ”stingy” way. I'd suggest either setting a quota of one crab per person at the table, or simply taking it off the menu altogether. Only at most four people could grab some each time, while the rest of the guests couldn't even catch a glimpse of it. On top of that, it was only replenished almost once an hour. On the bright side, the hotel staff remained very warm and enthusiastic, despite being extremely busy during the Golden Week holiday.

Pros: 1. The hotel is nestled halfway up the mountain, offering fresh air and truly beautiful surroundings. It's a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle, and the hotel's decor and maintenance are quite good. Our butler, Bella, was incredibly meticulous and thoughtful, taking care of every little detail. She met all our needs, making our stay exceptionally comfortable. 2. There's a wide array of facilities and activities, including a mountainside hot spring, indoor pool, Hatha yoga, singing bowl therapy, a gym, and a kids' club. It's perfect for families, and the kids' club is large and newly renovated – it just reopened in May. It's definitely more fun than the kids' clubs at other hotels I've visited. Plus, children aged 4 and up can be supervised for free, which made my little one super happy! 3. The room key card came with a park map, showing hiking trails. There's an easy 5-kilometer mountain boardwalk, perfect for families, where you can visit the Eight Planets viewing platforms. 4. The breakfast was impressive! They had steaks, lamb chops, and a rich variety of both Chinese and Western dishes. However, the cured meats were generally a bit too salty. Cons: 1. For a 5-star hotel, there was no safe in the room. 2. While there's an abundance of kids' activities, most of them come with a fee. 3. Since the kids' club was newly renovated, the smell was quite strong, making my eyes and throat uncomfortable. Overall, we were still very satisfied. I imagine it would be even more atmospheric to visit in winter for the hot springs, though I expect it would be extremely crowded.

Overall, the experience was great! The staff were all very enthusiastic and the hygiene was excellent. There were plenty of bath towels and slippers. Today, before checking out, the crowd was significantly smaller, and my baby had a fantastic time in the children's pool. There are a few areas I think could be improved: * The breakfast could be a bit more varied. * The cakes and desserts at LongRitz for dinner were a bit underwhelming. They tasted like they'd been defrosted for a long time, were very watery, and lacked flavor. * It would be great if the children's pool could be expanded a bit. With the current facilities, a two-year-old gets bored after about an hour. Overall, I would still come back if I have the chance. The Ctrip price was very reasonable.

Formerly the Xinhualua, this property has now been acquired by Howard Johnson under the Wyndham umbrella, and the service quality has seen a dramatic improvement. As someone who loves visiting hot springs around Beijing, I’ve discovered another hidden gem. The European-style architecture comes with high maintenance costs, but it is so much better kept compared to the Tianjin Evergrande Hotel Hot Spring that I used to frequent (which has since fallen into disrepair). The hotel offers great value for money, the buffet is worth the price, and the staff training is top-notch. I have to say, international hotel groups are just in a different league when it comes to personnel training! The only minor drawback is that the lighting in the hotel corridors is a bit too dim, making the already massive hallways feel somewhat unwelcoming.

We had a wonderful stay and would happily come back again! Our room was a massive hit with our toddler, and we really enjoyed the facilities. The hot springs were clean and lovely, and the little touches like the candyfloss machine and vending machines in the lobby were such a fun bonus. The staff were a real highlight — everyone was so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The only area for improvement would be paying a little more attention to the finer details when preparing and servicing the rooms. We didn’t have a towel for our child, and this wasn’t replenished the following day. The minibar and bathroom amenities were also not fully restocked despite being included in our package. Similarly, at breakfast, the cutlery on the tables wasn’t always replenished, so we sometimes had to look for it ourselves. These small details make a big difference, particularly when paying a premium for the stay. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would still happily give our stay 10/10. My family and I chose Jen Hotel for a quick getaway during the November holiday. This is one of the most value-for-money hotels I've ever stayed in. This time, I booked a room with executive lounge access, which included breakfast, in-room breakfast delivery, and a two-person dinner at Sanwu Tang in the evening. We had a smooth check-in around 5 PM. The front desk staff asked us which direction we preferred for our room, and we chose one facing the 'Big Trousers' building (CCTV Headquarters). During check-in, the front desk also helped us book a dinner reservation at Sanwu Tang. After dropping off our luggage, we headed straight for dinner. Sanwu Tang is a buffet restaurant specializing in Beijing cuisine, offering a complete selection of local delicacies like 'baodu' (tripe), 'luzhu' (stewed offal), 'chaogan' (stir-fried liver), 'douzhi' (fermented mung bean juice), 'zhajiangmian' (fried sauce noodles), and roast duck. Of course, they also have international dishes like beef, lamb chops, and salmon sashimi. If you're a first-time visitor to Beijing and don't want to wander around the streets, you can try all these dishes in one place. Wang Yajuan, a server at the restaurant, thoughtfully explained the food stations and brought us the exclusive drinks menu for executive lounge guests, which we greatly appreciated. (Regular paying guests also have drinks, but the variety is much smaller than for executive lounge guests). This drink menu included four types of craft beer and Evian sparkling water, which instantly made the value for money skyrocket. Plus, the restaurant was filled with Beijing cultural elements, making for a very comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast on the second day was also in the style of Beijing snacks, which I loved, so I won't go into detail. By the way, the online reviews for Sanwu Tang aren't very high, but I think those low-score reviews are unfair. Because Sanwu Tang's main focus is Beijing flavors, both the style and the food are authentic Beijing local dishes. Objectively speaking, some dishes might not be well-received by non-locals, leading to low scores. But if you like these flavors, trust me, go for it with your eyes closed – you definitely won't be disappointed. I also want to mention the gym; it's the largest I've seen in any hotel I've stayed at, with the widest variety of equipment. No luxury hotel in China can compare. The staff also maintained the high service standards of a premium hotel. In summary, this is a hotel with exceptional value for money. It's located in Beijing's Guomao area, and both the service and hardware facilities are outstanding. Highly recommended! 👍

Location: The hotel is in Chaoyang District, and since most of the places I wanted to visit in Beijing this time were nearby, it was quite convenient to get around. Room Facilities: Although the hotel has been around for many years, it's an artistic hotel, and the more time passes, the more character it develops. Just like the artwork on the front desk's background wall says, 'The Rose of Time,' it made me think of Bei Dao's poem: 'When the brush draws the horizon, you are awakened by the gong of the East, and blooming in the echo is the rose of time…' Breakfast: Breakfast is served on the first floor at LIQA, a Turkish restaurant. I'm not sure if it's the same team that handles breakfast and regular meal times, but the main courses, desserts, and drinks for breakfast were all excellent 👍. Parking: To get from the parking lot to the guest rooms, you need to go to the first floor and then transfer to another elevator. There are plenty of parking spaces. Just remember to register your license plate number at the front desk; I paid almost 200 yuan the first day because I forgot. Service: Absolutely fantastic! We received welcome fruits, desserts, a card, and drinks. There was bottled water everywhere, unopened pens, and a whole toiletry bag of amenities. The disposable hotel slippers were exceptionally comfortable, which is a rare and pleasant surprise. Housekeeping was prompt but never intrusive. They even gave my daughter the room card as a souvenir. I heard the swimming pool and gym are excellent, but I didn't get a chance to experience them this time as I was traveling with my child. Two years ago, I stayed here in late autumn and absolutely loved strolling by the lake, as well as hiking the Xishan trail to admire the autumn scenery and overlook the lakeside views from above. Taking advantage of the lull before the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, and coinciding with my daughter's birthday, we decided to return to Sunrise Kempinski for another stay. During check-in, Zhang Jiajia at the front desk thoughtfully noticed it was my daughter's birthday. Super attentive and heartwarming, she upgraded our booked city-view room to a lake-view room free of charge, and even arranged it in a prime central location. The panoramic lake and mountain views were breathtaking – a wonderful and unexpected birthday surprise! That evening, we dined at the Chinese restaurant on the second floor. We ordered steamed sea bass, boiled snowflake beef, stir-fried choy sum, and a vegetable salad. The food was delicious and the portions were so generous we couldn't finish it all. Being advocates of 'no waste,' we packed the leftovers and put them in the fridge. The next day at noon, I somewhat sheepishly asked the restaurant supervisor, ”We had a lot of leftovers last night, and every dish was delicious, it would be such a waste to throw them away. Could I order two new dishes and bother the kitchen to reheat last night's leftovers for us?” To my surprise, the supervisor promptly replied, ”If the leftovers are enough for you, you don't even have to order new dishes.” What was even more heartwarming was that the leftovers were not only reheated thoroughly and served piping hot, but they were also meticulously arranged on various beautifully shaped plates, looking indistinguishable from freshly ordered dishes. I've stayed in many high-end hotels, but I've truly never encountered such kind, thoughtful, and down-to-earth service anywhere else. The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing, Yanqi Lake, truly deserves high praise! 👍👍👍

With plenty of choices to suit different tastes, it easily catered to various needs. Tian'anmen Square and Wangfujing Area Beijing|1.47km from city center
My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing was absolutely perfect, earning a full five-star review! I experienced both the main building and the traditional courtyard rooms. The location is superb, right next to Wangfujing and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel's design is truly unique and thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the amenities are high-quality and smell wonderful – every detail shows great care. Our butler, Willow, provided attentive and thoughtful service; she was warm, polite, and perfectly balanced, never being intrusive. The breakfast spread was extensive, featuring both authentic Beijing specialties and delicious Western options. The afternoon tea was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. This is definitely the top luxury hotel to stay at when visiting Beijing. Highly recommended!
