The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Union Square and the cable car, with very few homeless people around. It's super convenient for getting in and out. My only complaint is that I was already struggling with jet lag and lack of sleep, and then the room alarm went off in the early hours of the morning, which was incredibly annoying. It shows a clear lack of attention to detail in the hotel's management.

There's a restaurant on the first floor that seems to serve breakfast and also operates as a bar in the evenings, which is great for a safe nightcap. Housekeeping was adequate, but there's no toothpaste, toothbrush, or room slippers among the amenities. Even with the heating turned all the way up, it was a bit chilly at night. There's no master switch for the room lights, so I had to turn each one on manually, and overall the room was quite dim. There's a mini-fridge, and one can of water is provided; it seems they replenish it if you leave the empty can as trash. I would definitely stay here again.

I chose this youth hostel because it has a kitchen, a great location, and a good price. It's also not far from Chinatown, so I can easily buy Chinese groceries and cook my own meals. The room was decent, but there was some noise from the outdoor air conditioning unit. If you're a light sleeper, you'll definitely need earplugs.

The heater wasn't working properly so we asked for help and was told it was automatic, but the room was still cold. On the second day we asked for the heater to be turned on, but it only lasted a few minutes, so we asked them for an electric heater.
