The Chalet Kilauea provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Chalet Kilauea is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Volcano. From the hotel, Hilo International Airport is approximately 45km away. The nearest airport is Hilo International Airport, approximately 45km away. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Volcano Gallery, The Old Japanese Schoolhouse and Volcano Garden Arts all nearby. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Volcano hotel offers parking on site.

"Accommodation on the Big Island of Hawaii is very expensive. It is difficult to find a good and cheap hotel near the Volcano National Park. The only choice is the B&B. Do not think that the B&B is a single-family villa. This is not a home in Australia or Hawaii. Very expensive, the price you see, you can only rent a room in the villa, the kitchen and living room are to be shared with others. This lodge is less than a hundred years old. It is difficult to find. The place to check in is not together with the lodge, and you must see the check-in time. If you miss it, people will get off work. The staff will give you a map, clear. Tell you where the hut is, or give him the navigation directly. He will help you enter the coordinates, which is easy to find. The hut is about 1 km from the studio and drives very fast. The car can be parked in the open space at the door, the cabin is very clean, the living room is heated and the ceiling fan is on. It seems that the temperature difference between the mountains and the forest is very high. There is also a Chinese family who stays together. It’s just that everyone can chat and not feel restrained. The room is not big, the toiletries in the bathroom are very complete. Fortunately, the upstairs room is on our family. No one shared the bathroom. I have already said that this house has been said for a hundred years. It can be kept like this. It is already very good. There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby, you have to drive out, the price of the supermarket is a bit high, it is better to solve the dinner directly in the restaurant, breakfast can be bought in the supermarket, so the kitchen of the wooden house is useless. When you check out, just throw the key directly into the door mailbox and someone will clean it."

"You can feel the wooden house in the forest; the location is near the National Volcano Park, deep in the forest; there is a small parking lot, and there is a small cart and luggage to the room; the hotel has 5 small villas, self-check in ,check out. Breakfast is two slices of toast, two boxes of milk, and a small plate of fruit. The room has a refrigerator, oven, microwave, coffee machine, and kettle. It’s very cold at night, thanks to the fireplace in the room, There is an electric blanket on the bed; the room I live in cannot accommodate an extra bed. The room is round, surrounded by forests. I didn't see the staff at check-in or check-out. During my stay, I only encountered a cute tabby cat at the front desk of the hotel."

Serenity, peace, and rejuvenation is here at this private cottage on a half-acre of upcountry rainforest. Lazy Lehua Cottage is for settled or adventurous couples, small families, honeymooners, artists, poets, musicians, scientists, and writers. The native birds sing while you enjoy your early morning tea or coffee. Sink into a hammock chair on one of three lanais among the Hawaiian Hapu'u ferns, flowering indigenous Ohi’a Lehua trees, and scented ginger. Breathe in the pristine night air under stars and clouds without overhead street lights, before retiring to possibly the best sleep you’ve ever had. The cottage is located only 2 miles from restaurants, galleries, winery, golf course, and Sunday Famers’ Market in Volcano Village. The Village is an enclave of artists, National Park rangers, and scientists, near the Island’s Eastside with its hiking trails, waterfalls, fresh water pools, and black sand beaches. Explore the world-famous Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, just 3.6 miles from the cottage. In the Hawaiian language, ‘mana’ means spiritual energy and healing power. The Park is filled with Mana! You may sense it as you trail-run or hike through the forests and steaming craters, traverse the giant lava tube, or witness new land being created at the Kilauea caldera— one of the only places in the world where this occurs. Also, check out Punalu’u beach within a 45-minute drive-- the Big Island’s most famous black sand beach where endangered sea turtles swim, rest, and lay eggs. If good coffee is your obsession, take a tour at the Ka'u Coffee Mill in Pahala and see how coffee is grown, milled, and roasted. And, of course, visit old historic downtown Hilo (45-minutes away), as well as the magical Hawai’i Tropical Botanical Garden, with its epic coastline and rare flora. Later you can restore your sore muscles in the master bedroom's jetted tub overlooking the territory outside your window-- exactly what’s needed after a day of exploration on the Big Island. Like a young pup, you’ll feel rejuvenated and ready for more adventures! Although it's revitalizing to be lazy here, a cozy desk with a reliable internet connection is upstairs for those conscientious souls whose work follows them. Lazy Lehua Cottage was constructed in 2004 with respect for the aina (land). Trees were hand-cut and the property was cleared in a minimally invasive manner. Trees removed from the site were recycled into the cottage’s posts and railings to blend in with the rainforest. Select cottage furniture was hand crafted— the coffee table, bar top, and bedroom headboard were all made with local, exotic, and native woods. The cottage has been maintained with immaculate and loving attention and we know you will feel its special mana when you are here.Note: We have always been recognized for our meticulous maintenance. Because your safety and comfort are our top priorities, our cleaning and sanitizing procedures comply with guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA). We remain committed to making your stay at the Lazy Lehua Cottage safe, relaxing, and enjoyable.County of Hawaii Licensed and Registered Transient Vacation RentalSTVR-19-351969NUC-19-0618PL-NUCR-2024-002415GE-089-267-4048-01TA-089-267-4048-01About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 3-17.About customRules:Please remove shoes while in the house. Hale Malie is a charming 1-bed/1-bath cottage retreat on a private half acre of lush Hawaiian rain forest just minutes from Volcano National Park. Featuring vaulted ceilings, a full kitchen, a sunny dining area, and expansive covered lanai, this cottage is ideal for two adult hikers, a couples' getaway, or a timeout for the traveling person. Hale Malie, formerly known as "Second Street Serenity," is perfect for couples seeking to enjoy the sounds of nature and relax in our native forest oasis.Hale Malie is a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom private cottage that can comfortably accommodate 1-2 guests. Our interior finishes are excellent quality, with dual paned windows, and luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout. Queen size mattress, large bathroom with laundry facilities, living room and kitchen/dining area. The cottage is 500 sq. feet, providing a cozy and intimate experience for guests. As your host, we offer free, fast, and reliable internet as well as a TV in the bedroom equipped with an Amazon Fire Stick for your entertainment, though we suspect you'll want to spend most of your down time sipping a cup of coffee or enjoying a glass of wine on our spacious covered lanai to enjoy the beauty and sounds of nature.Guests will have private access to the entire cottage and carport, which is situated on a 1/2 acre lot encompassed by native forest. For your convenience and flexibility, we offer self check-in. A lockbox code will be provided to you the morning of your arrival. The lockbox is opened by entering the code given to you. Then, you must push the black release lever left and pull down the front of the lockbox door toward you. Once you retrieve the keys, return the lockbox door to its locked position and scramble the lockbox numbers. Please remove your shoes before entering as is the custom in Hawai'i.Our full sized kitchen is available for guests to use with Keurig coffee maker and coffee and tea gratis. There is also an in-unit washer and dryer available to guests. The town of Volcano rains often and gets cold at night. The Volcano area gets over 120 inches of rain annually and temperatures during winter can get below 50 degrees. We recommend bringing a rain jacket, long pants, and warm socks. We have two small umbrellas available for guests to use. When it's raining, the house may get musty, despite our best efforts. We do provide a dehumidifier, ceiling fans, and a heater that work very well to keep our cottage fresh and moisture low.Outdoor living on the covered lanai has never been more enjoyable; with seating perfect for your morning coffee or evening glass of wine, and a propane fire pit to keep you warm and toasty at night. Our cottage is encompassed by the Pu'u Maka'ala Natural Area Reserve, so we are surrounded by some of the Big Island's best wet native forest and unique geological features. The wet koa and 'ohi'a forest of this Reserve Area on the northeast flank of Mauna Loa are important habitat for some of Hawai'i's rarest birds, as well as several rare plants. Because of our lush forest surroundings, please be aware that we sometimes have critters roaming around in the area outdoors, including but not limited to pheasants, spiders, and mosquitos. The household tap water is fresh rainwater collected on site, double-filtered, and UV treated for home use; however, if you prefer not to drink from the tap, we recommend bringing bottled water. Living on an island, our resources are finite so please conserve water whenever possible. We will keep our guests informed if a propane delivery at the rear of the property is necessary during your stay to maintain gas and cooking needs. The town of Volcano approximately one mile away has restaurants and small local convenience stores, which can be a bit pricey compared to other grocery stores. We suggest stopping at stores in Hilo, Kea'au or Mountain View to pick up supplies on the way to Volcano. Before leaving the cottage, we would appreciate if our guests turn off all inside and outside lights and appliances (heater, mattress pad heater, etc.) and that all of the doors and windows are locked. Prior to your checking out, please clean and put away dishes and utensils, and return the key to the lockbox and scramble the numbers.A Ring Doorbell video at the exterior of the front door is for security purposes. Evidence of camera tampering will result in our request for guests to leave. We have a strict No Smoking policy. Please do not smoke in the cottage. If we find evidence that smoking is happening in our cottage, or that it occurred, we will file a claim with VRBO, and ask for $400 reimbursement for damages to our furniture, the unit, and our reputation with the property.Lost Keys. Hale Ma‘ukele is a large, well decorated home located near the heart of Volcano Village and 1 mile from Volcano National Park. It has 2.5 baths, 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, a large living area, and a 4 person hot tub. We have a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, hot tub, a nice back yard, and a back deck with a gas grill. The house is set in the native forest with giant Hapu‘u ferns, ‘o‘hia trees, and native birds all around. My wife and I moved here in 2006 with our kids, designed and built this house with other family. For the nest year we worked on the landscaping, and decorated it with local art and photography. The house has its own solar energy and filtered, drinkable catchment water. The house has a open floor plan downstairs and lots of windows to look out on the rainforest. It is a good layout for large groups or families as it facilitates connection, but also has private feeling bedrooms upstairs that have some separation from each other. The master bedroom has its own bathroom, and there is another full bathroom upstairs for the other two bedrooms. We have a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a smart TV with high speed wifi. The back deck gets sun and is a great place to drink coffee, eat, relax and grill. The hot tub is set in a private corner of the property in the rainforest and is a great place to unwind after a day of activity at Volcanoes National Park or somewhere else.We are a 5 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park and a 2 minute drive to Volcano Village. Volcano is a cute little town with a few restaurants, general stores, a community center, playground, and a nice farmers market on Sundays.Volcano is at 3500 feet in a high elevation tropical rainforest, so it is never too hot. It can be chilly and damp depending on the weather, so it is nice to have the mini split heater.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About events:No events allowed.
