"I originally thought that Shaoshan Hotel was a government-type reception hotel, and the sanitation and rooms should be very good. Booked a deluxe room. There is no luxurious feel at all, the carpets are dirty, the bedding is uncomfortable, and the lights are dim. Don't be fooled by the photos, the room facilities are not well maintained. Breakfast ended at 9 o'clock, and when we arrived at 8:30, there was nothing to eat. The breakfast in this old hotel should be very good. Very poor value for money.
The advantage is that the location is very good. When you go out, you can walk a few steps to Mao Zedong Square and the Memorial Hall, as well as Mao Zedong's former residence, which is very close on foot. Parking is easy."

"Stayed in a room in the main building. The hotel is in a good location, close to South Railway Station and not far from Shaoshan. The hotel facilities are good and the layout is very charming. The waiters were all friendly and the service was attentive. What impressed me most was the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of Manager Li Xiu.
The food in the restaurant is delicious and the prices are relatively affordable, especially the restaurant on the second floor. The hotel is equipped with a swimming pool, which can satisfy those who like swimming and stay near Shaoshan. There is a gift shop downstairs for convenient shopping.
The disadvantage is that the hotel does not have a washing machine, which is still a traditional hotel practice. There are also no laundry bags for dirty clothes, but rudimentary plastic bags are provided."

She also upgraded the room. You can watch the short video. "As a history enthusiast, I took my mother to Shaoshan for the New Year's holiday, and it was truly a wonderful place! I found it very interesting and learned more about Chairman Mao's life. The hotel we stayed at was excellent—very clean and satisfactory, just as I've always been impressed with Lavande Hotels. The price was also very reasonable. The receptionist, Ms. Banxia, was very warm and attentive, and the driver was also very kind. Excellent service—a must-try! I definitely want to visit Shaoshan again. "Highly recommended!!! Nestled in a quiet courtyard at the foot of Shaofeng Mountain, the rooms are clean and fresh, and the courtyard has a great atmosphere. In the evening, I enjoyed a drink with friends in the courtyard, enjoying the mountain breeze. Breakfast was delicious, especially the rice noodles. The kitchen lady enthusiastically added fresh day lilies grown at home, which were delicious. 😍 The most important thing is that the proprietress is beautiful and generous. We loved this Mao-Themed hotel in Shaoshan. Quiet, boutique with a small courtyard. We checked in really late at night and the lady had our room ready with air conditioner on and a parking spot for our car. Highly recommend the hotel if you want to be close to the Mao exhibits (but not within walking distance).

Family friendly homely place which is conveniently located just opposite the main tourist attraction. The owner is a very nice gentleman who takes care of the guests by providing home made dishes and also doubles up as driver to pick up and drop from the train station. He also arranged for a day trip around the town.

I am a solo female traveler from America. The owner and family took wonderful care of me. As if I were their family and not just a guest. The owner drove me to the Mao scenic area, helped me find the ticket area, and returned later to take me home. Then he later drove me to a restaurant for dinner, where I also met his cute dog Wang Wang, and afterwards took me to the evening musical performance about Mao. Which was great to see even not speaking Chinese. My departure train was late in the afternoon but they allowed me to just rest in the hotel lounge and garden. Gave me tea, fruit, and cake while I waited. Even offered to drive me to the train! So friendly. So kind. And hotel room was VERY comfortable. Stay here! Ps. I recommend using WeChat to communicate with the host if you don’t speak Chinese. Made things so easy.

The couple running this renovated traditional home in Mao's home village are very attentive to guests' needs, even on the busiest day of the year, December 26th, Chairman Mao's birthday. My partner was coming down with a cold and got some ginger soup to drink. Additionally, when we screwed up our schedule and almost couldn't make our train out of Shaoshan, with no train available to reschedule, the couple arranged for the husband to drive us to the station for little more than gas money. It's up a slight hill from the other inns and allows one to get a bit of peace and quiet, again, even on the busiest day of the year, when Shaoshan is very worth a visit for anyone interested in Mao Zedong's legacy, given the number of Chinese people who show up to sing, dance, wave various flags and give speeches. Don't make our mistake and schedule the Chairman Mao memorial hall for a full visit instead of rushing though it. The exhibit is full of pictures and dioramas and has English captions for most things. I also wish we'd had time to explore the pagoda on the hill behind the guesthouse.

The owners of this place are the nicest people ever! Even though we did not ask, they gave us a ride to and from the train station as well as to Chairman Mao's former residence. The location is great, it would not have been a long walk but the ride made our visit even smoother. The hosts gave us Chairman Mao pins for free and made us delicious breakfast for a really cheap price. They truly are such nice people! They don't speak much English but I'm sure you would manage just fine with a translator app. The room was a great fit for us, two couples travelling together, and it had everything we needed. We only stayed for one night since there is not a whole lot to see in this town but we would have loved to stay for longer just because the hosts were so nice. I would definitely recommend this place! 谢谢你们对我们的悉心照顾!

酒店不错，交通ok还是很满意的出行体验，This hotel was an excellent experience! The room was clean, well-equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient, making check-in and check-out smooth. The location is great, with easy access to transportation and plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was varied and delicious. The environment is quiet and safe, offering great value for money. I’ll definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!
