"For where you are (Oamaru is a small historical town) and depending on what you plan to do the clue is very much in the name. Parking was easy, decor quirky and very well designed. Cold buffet breakfast included named local cheeses, beautiful fruit and bread section with sociable table seating - gorgeous. We did a visit night at Oamaru Penguins, which for nature lovers is unbeatable (with dinner at Del Mare next door to the centre which was great ) it was absolutely perfect for our visit."

"While the room was on the smaller side, this was anticipated given that it doesn't offer a private bathroom. The listing indicated a 'separate toilet,' but in reality, it was just a washbasin within the room, and the toilet itself was shared. If privacy for facilities is important to you, I'd strongly advise against booking.
Parking was also a significant challenge. The hotel lacks its own car park, requiring guests to find street parking. There are only two spots directly outside the hotel, which are rarely vacant and can be used by non-guests too. The whole street is usually packed with parked cars, making it extremely difficult to find a space.
Opposite the hotel are private residences. We found the occupants to be quite rude; they aggressively told us not to park in any seemingly empty spots in front of their properties. This was the only instance of rudeness I encountered during my entire trip to New Zealand; every other local I met was incredibly friendly."

"Very close to Highway 1! There is a large supermarket 15 minutes' walk away where you can buy food. There is a full set of kitchenware and tableware in the room, which is very convenient! Note: The parking space number is the same as the room number. The boss is also in the courtyard and doesn't look very friendly!"

"Because I wanted to see the little penguin 🐧, I had to stay in Omalu for one night and finally chose to punch in the first hotel on the list of this homestay. I really like the decoration style of the hotel, there are many Chinese elements in it, because the owner has stayed in different cities in China for more than 20 years. The most surprising thing is that I actually ate the only Chinese meal in the South Island Tour for breakfast. 😄👍"

Very good motels in the town. Everything was completed and very comfortable. The owner was quite friendly . We got the ground floor room, and the car was Juz parked infront of the room. Super convenient.

The room was clean and tidy, and welcome chocolates were given. The Chinese guy at the front desk was very friendly and patient. Asure Motel is still trustworthy and can be an option for self-driving in New Zealand.

After a long drive, we enjoyed our stay at the motel. The host was kind and friendly. Safe and secure parking on the premises, free wifi, the room was spacious, had comfy bed, pillows and clean bedsheets including a wee kitchenette with almost everything in it, milk, sugar, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, kettle, bar fridge, a stove, utensils to cook, toaster. You also have a heater in the room. You can certainly enjoy a hot shower. Hair dryer, soap and shampoo were provided. The only negative thing is you can hear the voice of the guests in the other room and each time they open the tap you can hear the waterflow.
