"Treated ourselves to an after-Christmas staycation at the Madeira House in Jenner, staying in the Osprey Room, and it was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we appreciated the excellent parking spot just steps from our room. Kristen greeted us with a warm welcome from the Redwood Hospitality Suite, which was also a great place to meet up with our friends who were staying in the Wildflower Suite. The Osprey Room itself is best described by one perfect word: cozy. The space is comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The bed was firm yet luxurious, and there was a lovely selection of amenities, including chocolates, chips, and nuts. The gas fireplace kept us warm all evening, and the heated bathroom floors were such a delightful surprise—pure comfort. The Windows are incredibly soundproof, making the room feel like a peaceful cocoon. We kept the shades up to enjoy the stars and the moon as it set, and the deck view over the Russian River was stunning, especially at sunset. After some heavy rain before Christmas, the weather was surprisingly clear and calm, and it was fascinating to experience how much warmer it felt at sea level than inland. Dinner at nearby River’s End was convenient, and we also loved being able to walk to Café Aquatica. Know before you go: There’s only a small market at the gas station nearby. Next time, I’ll be sure to bring a charcuterie board, wine, and spirits to make drinks, as there’s no bar within walking distance. Overall, this was a perfect Sonoma County staycation—peaceful, comfortable, and thoughtfully curated. We left feeling relaxed and already looking forward to returning."
