Kunming Guandu District Hotels

Here's my review: **1. Breakfast: 7/10.** Definitely better than Atour or Hualuxe, but the Western selection isn't what you'd typically find in a luxury hotel. They had some pre-sliced ham that was decent. There was also an à la carte menu on the table with items like salmon and eggs, which suggests the owner initially aimed for a super high-end offering, but you get what you pay for. **2. Hardware: 7.5/10.** The public areas are pretty good; for a 5-diamond hotel, it's decent. It doesn't quite reach 5-star luxury standards, though. Many areas use a dark green, faux-marble material that looks quite textured. This faux-stone texture is similar to what you'd find at the Wyndham Grand Yichang, InterContinental Xiangyang, and Conrad Chongqing, but the details aren't as refined. The mattress is quite supportive, not soft, which I really like – similar to JW Marriott and Wanda hotels. The linens are decent. The mini-bar was empty, and they use Yibao bottled water. The slippers have thick soles and are very good; I asked for two pairs when I left. **3. Service:** First, a shout-out to the service. The hotel gave me complimentary souvenirs upon check-in and check-out without asking for a good review. The service during breakfast, item delivery, and changing rooms for a late-night check-in was all very good. The most basic room type has a projector, so if that's an issue for you, book a room above the base category. Now for the downsides. Firstly, the soundproofing is average, which is a common issue with most non-luxury hotels. Thankfully, the location isn't super busy, so I slept well at night. The location is okay; it's not far from Kunming Station, and there's an internet café about 100 meters away. Oh, and the headboard decoration in the guest rooms resembles a certain hotel in Shenzhen, which is quite nice. The hotel's swimming pool and the third-floor terrace garden are relatively ordinary, not as impressive as the lobby. Overall, I'd still recommend it for those who aren't too picky about their accommodation, especially since it's affordable.

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at during our Yunnan trip, and also the one with the absolute best service! First, they offer subway station pick-up and airport transfer services. On the day of check-in, they send a reminder just in case you're unaware of these services. Upon arrival, you're immediately offered a glass of water, and then they thoughtfully help you arrange your airport transfer times. The room itself is fully smart-enabled, which is really impressive. But what touched us the most was that our flight was at 5 AM the next day, and we had scheduled a 4 AM airport drop-off. We came down about ten minutes early, expecting to wait a bit for the driver. To our surprise, even before 4 AM, a young man and a front desk lady were already waiting for us! They even kindly gave us two breakfast boxes to take on the road (we hadn't paid for breakfast). As soon as we stepped out of the hotel, the car was already waiting right at the entrance. The service was so incredible that we actually wondered if we really only paid 100 RMB, haha!

The hotel's location is convenient, with many dining options nearby. The front desk service was attentive and responsive. The thoughtful details in the room made my stay in Kunming very relaxing. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time!

## Environment: The overall experience was very good. It's very close to Kunming Station, just a short walk away, making it convenient for sightseeing. The room's screen mirroring feature allowed us to watch live programs, which was great for catching up on news in the evening and learning about Yunnan's local customs and culture. Our 'Xiaozhu' king-sized bed room had no windows, but it wasn't a big deal since we only stayed there at night. The only minor inconvenience was not knowing what time it was in the morning when waking up. ## Service: The staff were very friendly, and we could store our luggage at the front desk. ## Hygiene: Generally, it was clean, although there were some dirty marks on certain parts of the walls. ## Facilities: The bathroom was a three-fixture design, and amenities like a hairdryer, air conditioning, and projector were all provided and quite new. However, the hot water for the shower sometimes took a long time to heat up in the evening, which they attributed to our room being on a higher floor. Overall, the experience was very good, and it offered great value for money. Waiting for the elevator to the 19th floor sometimes took a while, and the soundproofing was decent. For the price, it was definitely worth it.

This hotel is located in the old city center, right next to Kunming Railway Station. The building itself looks very old, and the surrounding area is quite messy. It's only suitable for people on a layover or business travelers. The facilities are just 'okay'. The room is a bit small, the bed isn't very big, and the gym only has a few pairs of dumbbells, one treadmill, and one exercise bike. The hardware is definitely on par with a budget hotel. The highlight is the incredibly warm and helpful staff. Their service is excellent; they proactively help with laundry in the washer/dryer and offer other assistance. The front desk even has emergency sanitary pads, which is a really nice touch. Breakfast is also good.

I arrived at the airport late the night before, but the hotel's pick-up service was perfectly arranged. The driver was already waiting, and even proactively helped with my luggage, completely saving me the hassle of finding a taxi in the middle of the night. Upon arrival, front desk staff member #6 was incredibly friendly and polite, and check-in was very efficient. She also thoughtfully informed me of all the important details. After a long and tiring journey, the warm and thoughtful service from the staff made me feel so much better, and the room environment was also excellent. The overall service was impeccable, I highly recommend this hotel! It will definitely be my first choice next time I visit Kunming!

The facilities are comprehensive, and the decor is high-end and luxurious, complete with smart home controls throughout the room. The bed is very comfortable, and there's a laundry room that even provides various cleaning supplies for washing – truly thoughtful! The proprietress is super nice, and the tea she brewed was incredibly fragrant. It was a wonderful stay, and I'll definitely be back.

When I got to the hotel, the front desk had my room card ready, presented a welcome gift, processed the check-in, and then returned my passport. The hotel also provides late-night snacks; a warm bowl of rice noodles is incredibly comforting for travelers who've just landed.
