"Had a very good experience in mayura sudharshan. Rooms are old but clean. The best part is Karnataka horticulture is attached to the resort. The gardens are beautiful. U can spend ur time relaxing in the garden. Restaurant is fine. For our stay in ooty we had food in restaurant itself. Only disadvantage is 2 dogs keep roaming around the rooms. Sometimes they follow you when u comeout during odd hours."

"No service, no cleaning, most of the electrical sockets not working and in pathetic condition, all the rooms were damp, left on our own at the property. Unwashed towels and broken taps and geysers not working, only the breakfast was good because that was in their other hotel in the opposite road. Never stayed in such a bad condition ever in life."

"We recently had a pleasant stay at your property, located on the hill-top in the Arani area of Ooty. We selected a room on the first floor with a valley view, which indeed offered a beautiful overlook of the town from the balcony. Your property provides all necessary amenities, though we noted the absence of a room heater or proper wooden flooring to keep the floor warm. During our monsoon stay, the breezy 20-22 degree Celsius weather made the floor quite cold. While extra clean blankets were provided, the open ventilation in our bathroom likely contributed to the cold room floor and might benefit from a proper ventilation system. We were very impressed with your helpful and professional staff. We also appreciated that daily transportation was arranged from the hotel with a professional driver at a reasonable fare. We would recommend this location to anyone looking to experience a hill station from a hilltop, away from the city center. However, it's worth noting that the road to the resort involves off-road driving on a narrow path. The restaurant offered good service. We enjoyed fresh and hot North Indian dishes for dinner, and the breakfast featured local South Indian cuisine. For dinner, we found that ordering in advance and allowing the kitchen 40-45 minutes for preparation ensured no waiting time"

"It was amazing. Although I stayed just for a night the owner and staff were very good. I had booked the hotel a day after the date it should have been and got to know about it when I arrived at reception on 23rd Feb that i have actually booked it for 24th. Staff was initially not sure how to tackle it and eventually called the owner. He came to reception and heard me out and said to check-in on 23rd itself without any additional charges which was a huge relief for me. Other than that all the facilities were provided included hot water in such weather. Cleanness in the hotel is top notch. I had booked a standard room and was as expected. Staff is very well mannered including the receptionist prince and others employees they have."

The Red House

"Please believe the bad reviews, we have regretted not believing them and booked this property at a crucial time and lost a lot of money. It's run by an elusive owner, very unpleasant and disrespectful about the guests. The property is managed by Amit, again, an extremely irresponsible, inexperienced person. It was our wedding in December, 2023. We booked the entire property for two nights, several months in advance. They knew we were booking it for our families to be in one place, and they also knew it was our wedding. We made the mistake of paying the entire amount in advance. We had no idea that the owners run these quack businesses to cheat people. We reached two days before the wedding day, and they decided to renovate, the entire front porch was broken and being redone. I didn't know what to do, we were two days away from our wedding and urgently needed an alternative. The rooms were smelling of mould and there was mould all over, under the bed, in the bathroom, literally in every room. It was impossible that our families of senior citizens could stay there. The shocking part was the downstairs rooms were smelling of pee and alcohol and I have no words to describe how dirty and unhygienic it was. Ooty has plenty of budget heritage properties and it's difficult to maintain them, we go to Ooty every year multiple times. And, we never stayed at the Red House because of the bad reviews. And, I still can't remember why we made such a bad decision of booking this place, but the mistake was made. We had to paid a huge amount and book a different place for our family last minute. I told Amit to cancel 3 rooms out of 6, and our vendors were accomodated there. Infact even our vendors had to be moved out the second night due to construction dust, unclean drinking water, mould and dirty linen. When we asked for refund (at least of the three rooms we cancelled), Amit agreed, because he knew exactly what he had done. He had so many months to prepare for our arrival, and they did nothing. But, the owners were so cheap, probably they don't have their own money and live off by cheating people, even their neighborhood residents spoke of the owners so badly, that they were very cheap and miserly. And clearly that was the case. I decided to file an FIR, money lost is one thing, but money lost in fraud is different. They decided to return a measly amount, and my husband just wanted the ordeal to end. So I let it go. I won't recommend this place but if you must stay here, you should know the truth and hopefully they learn their lesson through other guests. Lots of excellent properties like Smyrna, Lymond house, manor house etc, where they treat guests as humans, not as dumb tourists to fill their pockets."

"comfy bed and clean toilet. sometimes they disconnect electricity at night which makes it difficult to charge phones as i was travelling around in day time and wanted to charge phone at night it was difficult to get the phone charged (also phone is needed for unlocking door also, so you have to be on your toes to maintain battery in phone while coming back to room).Road to the property is not good. Ambience was great. bonfire at night. room is clean. accessibility is okayish.It would have been great if there was a tap outside to clean our leg while coming back (it was raining, so my legs were dirty).overall a good stay."
