"This is the second time in the last few weeks that we have stayed at the Canopy in Zagreb. Great value for money hotel close to the train station (ideal if you are heading somewhere else on the train). Neighbourhood feels safe to walk around. Around 15 min walk to the main central square but it’s a nice pleasant walk with things to see. Only downside to the hotel is the cost of the breakfast."

No body wash and had to ring housekeeping for refill… perhaps this should be checked regularly with cleaning. Cannot fault the care demonstrated towards guests and breakfast quality. A grand old lady of Zagreb that will always draw me to her. Fantastic location. Highly recommended."

"The hotel is at the top of the mountain, with nice views, but be careful if you are not driving yourself. See the pictures for the driving distance. The breakfast is simple, only the hotel lobby has wifi, not the room, and the room is small"

"It turns out the air conditioning system in our room was faulty. I later saw similar complaints on other platforms and also informed the hotel. Every 30 to 45 minutes, it made a very loud and disturbing drilling-like noise for 3 to 10 minutes—even when it was turned off. We couldn’t sleep at all during the night. Since the hotel has no reception, the only solution was to leave early in the morning and find another hotel. As it was our first visit to this country, I can't say it started off well. You could say we were given a defective room. Other issues weren’t major, but there was an industrial smell coming from the chimney area, and there is no elevator."
Stay Swanky Hostel
"The Stay Swanky Mint is truly exceptional. Don't let the outside put you off, We had Royal Room 07 and it was outstanding. Spacious (larger than some Airbnbs we've been in!). Modern bathroom. Strong wifi. Great facilities. The staff were great Breakfast was incredible - tasty, filling, freshly made and more classy than your average big hotel buffet. The first morning, our shower overflowed (the plug hole blocked and the water wasn't getting away). We reported it on our way to breakfast; by the time we got back, it was fixed and we ever had the problem again. I don't write that as a criticism - these things happen. I write it as a positive. The young guy at reception assured us that this was not normal, that it shouldn't happen, and that he'd get straight on to it. And true to his word, it was quickly and properly fixed. Our housekeeper/maid was lovely. Well located and easily walkable to many of the main sites of Zagreb. There's a tram station right outside. The trams are cheap and regular (note: sometimes they're even early!). Tram 6 will take you to and from the main bus station (and a couple of stops later) the main railway station. You can buy tickets for cash from the driver, or it's cheaper to buy them from the little kiosks/shops and validate them on the machine in the tram. We had a voucher for a welcome shot from the Swanky bar. Many of the other hotel chains could learn from how Stay Swanky approach things. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and I'd sure stay here again."

"I think whether this hotel is good or not depends on the price. If it is 700-800, it is OK. Except that it is 7-8km away from the main city, there is nothing wrong with it. If you are a little picky, the bed is still relatively hard. The breakfast is OK, the front desk service is good, and there is a refrigerator and a kettle in the room."
