Standard amenities included a Dyson hairdryer, L'Occitane toiletries, and Dahongpao tea bags. The room was clean and tidy. However, there were real issues: The soundproofing was poor. Noise from the hallway and doors opening and closing carried right into the room. Late at night, we could clearly hear guests with kids returning, with both adults and children talking loudly in the corridor. By 6:00 AM the next morning, we could hear other guests pacing around in their rooms, which practically forced us to get up and leave. This room type doesn't offer a view of Dawang Peak—the window view was disappointing. Given the behavior of the neighboring guests, I wouldn't choose this room type again; next time, I'd pay extra to upgrade to a higher tier or a villa."

Yet this time, ever since I came back from Quanzhou, that city and that hotel still often send gentle ripples through my heart. It didn't win me over with a glittering, gold-plated lobby, nor with any exaggerated gimmicks. Instead, it was those seemingly minor touches of care that truly made you feel remembered. At 2:00 PM—the most exhausting time of the day when you desperately need a little sweetness—the hotel starts offering complimentary fresh fruit and small snacks. The fruit is neatly sliced and the pastries are impeccably arranged. It's understated and unpretentious, feeling just like a greeting handed to you by an old friend: ”You've been walking a lot, sit down and take a break.” It might just be a few slices of watermelon and a couple of pastries, but anyone who travels knows that this kind of unexpected care carries much more weight than any polite empty words. From 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, the hotel serves up Southern Fujian-style grass jelly (herbal jelly), complete with complimentary milk. That bowl of grass jelly has an authentic Southern Fujian flavor—smooth, refreshing, and paired with milk, it’s sweet without being cloying, as if soothing away all the stickiness and fatigue of the Quanzhou night. Whether I was just coming back from a stroll or finishing a full day of sightseeing, being able to enjoy such a warm or refreshing sweet soup in the night always filled my heart with a deep sense of comfort. What satisfied me even more was that the rest of the service was equally delightful. The staff were naturally warm and friendly—there was no pressure from over-enthusiasm, nor any perfunctory indifference. Whenever help was needed, they always appeared at the right moment, handling things properly and speaking in a way that put you at ease. The cleanliness of the room, the convenience of getting around, and the thoughtfulness in every detail added a layer of warmth to this entire trip to Quanzhou. At the end of the day, a great hotel doesn't just provide a place to sleep; it allows travelers to temporarily shed the dust of their journey and feel a genuine sense of connection to an unfamiliar city.
