Depart from Lijiang in the morning and travel to Shangri-La. First stop: Napa Lake. In the wet season, it becomes a shimmering lake mirroring the sky, clouds and snow-capped mountains. In the dry season, it transforms into the vast Yila Grassland dotted with grazing cattle and sheep. It's also a winter habitat for rare migratory birds like black-necked cranes, with cultural sites such as Gunyin Monastery ruins nearby, blending natural beauty and cultural heritage perfectly.
Next, visit a local Tibetan family (optional experience: CNY100 per person). Immerse yourself in authentic Tibetan culture, savor traditional Tibetan cuisine and interact with locals to learn about their daily life and warm hospitality.
Then head to Dukezong Old Town, China's best-preserved and largest Tibetan residential complex, built after the Buddhist utopia Shambhala.
