Hotel near Gaoqi International Airport area,Xiamen 1.1% of visitors choose this area

This is a standard chain hotel with a large parking lot and convenient airport shuttle service. We arrived around 7 PM on the fifth day of the ***** New Year and the hotel was fully booked. The only minor drawback was a bit of street noise, but it wasn't disruptive enough to affect our sleep; overall, it was quite comfortable. However, for travelers with flights the next day, it's very convenient for airport access. Nearby, there's Qingshui Temple where you can photograph planes taking off, and there are many other temples in the area, all exquisitely unique and full of Southern Fujian (Min-Nan) character.

This stay was incredibly comfortable! The room was clean and spacious, the bedding was soft, making for a great night's sleep, and the bathroom amenities were complete and high-quality. The front desk service was warm and attentive, responding to requests very promptly. Getting around from the location was also very convenient, offering excellent value for money. I felt safe and relaxed throughout my stay – it was a true haven during my trip. I've already recommended it to friends and will definitely be back!

This Shangri-La is one of the largest I've ever stayed at. It's connected to a mall next door, which makes dining incredibly convenient. The hotel facilities are also quite new. I initially thought it might be a bit dated since it opened in 2005, but after staying, I found the room to be very spacious and comfortable, with modern amenities. The hotel even provided complimentary desserts, fruits, and pastries, all of which were exquisitely prepared and delicious – definitely not a perfunctory offering. The breakfast was exceptionally lavish; in addition to the usual hotel fare, they also had ice cream and various local Fuzhou snacks. I must say, Shangri-La's management is truly excellent. Every stay at a Shangri-La property consistently exceeds my expectations and has never disappointed me. I especially want to commend Annie at the front desk; her service was incredibly thoughtful and meticulous. She took care of everything perfectly, and I'm very grateful.

The hotel is right next to West Lake Park, with exclusive access to a boardwalk along the lake. Our lake-view room offered stunning views of the vast lake; we could see people exercising by the lake in the morning, and the lights of West Lake at night were beautiful. It's also within walking distance of the bustling Sanfang Qixiang food street, making it a peaceful oasis that's still conveniently located.

The hotel is located in a food street with many snack shops offering a wide variety of choices. Opposite the hotel is Laobing Restaurant, which serves good food. Several attractions are within walking distance, including Guan Yue Temple and Qingjing Mosque, both about a 10-minute stroll away. Even on a rainy day, it's a short taxi ride to Zhonglou West Street. An evening walk to Zhongshan Road takes about 30 minutes, and it's quite pleasant exploring the small streets and alleys along the way. The hotel provides umbrellas, offers great value for money, and has laundry facilities. There's also parking, though it might be a bit tight for larger vehicles.

The standard room is more like a hostel, with a tiny TV that you can't cast to. If you're assigned the family room on the 15th floor and you're sensitive to noise, refuse it immediately. I can accept a basic room, but the constant low-frequency hum from the AC room will be with you 24/7, which is incredibly irritating. After contacting Trip.com, they changed my room and upgraded me. The low-frequency AC noise was gone, and even the traffic noise from outside the window was tolerable. If you have luggage, don't use Metro Exit 6; there's no elevator. Use Exit 4 instead.

Well located. Looks fancy. Dated interiors for the room and not so clean. Very expensive mini bar and instant food offered in the room. Service was cold, as the hotel front desk receptionist did not smile not greet at all. All the staff also seem to ignore me and looked indifferent. Well located beside Wanda Plaza though. If there are better choices, give this a miss.

The hotel's location is fantastic, right next to the subway station. The facilities are great too; even the bathroom amenities are ROCA. The front desk staff, especially one young lady, was incredibly warm and attentive, asking about our room preferences with a kind smile. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the service staff were very thoughtful. Overall, we were extremely satisfied!

EElizabeth Frances RoseThis place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

GGuest UserThis hotel is absolutely fantastic! It's a five-star hotel with a very reasonable price. The check-in process at the front desk was quick and smooth, thanks to the incredibly friendly staff. They even upgraded our room for free. The room itself was spacious, we had a twin room with two large, comfortable single beds. It was very clean and tidy. From the window, we had a stunning view of the sea and Gulangyu Island, which was incredibly relaxing. The room was well-equipped, with complimentary bottled water, and a good selection of teas and coffee. Since I enjoy tea, I needed more water, and the room service staff promptly brought extra bottles when I asked, which was a thoughtful touch. The hotel's breakfast was excellent, offering a rich buffet of both Chinese and Western dishes, with a wide variety of fruits and beverages – truly abundant. The hotel's surroundings are very lively. Zhongshan Road is right outside, and a subway station is at the corner, making transportation incredibly convenient. Zhongshan Road is a bustling commercial street, and directly opposite the hotel is Zhonghua City, with many restaurants lining the street, making dining out very easy. The hotel's service is truly top-notch. When we arrived in Xiamen, the weather was a bit cool, and the hotel thoughtfully provided extra blankets for us, which was genuinely touching. Before we even checked in, the hotel sent messages to understand our preferences and requirements, and this proactive, warm, and attentive service made us feel truly at home. All in all, this hotel is superb! It offers great value for money and is highly recommended. Many thanks to the hotel for their warm service and care. Thumbs up! 👍👍👍

GGuest User## Review **Ambiance:** I'd say it was just okay, a traditional five-star hotel setup, pretty standard. But I'm not sure if it's because of the humidity in the south, but there was an indescribable smell when I entered the room. **Cleanliness:** The room itself was decent. However, some of the cutlery in the restaurant was a bit dirty. You can see it in the picture if you zoom in – there were hard white spots on the knife. **Service:** The cleaning staff in the guest rooms were very friendly and responsive to requests. However, the front desk service on the 40th floor was just mediocre. I've stayed in many five-diamond hotels of major brands in various cities, and in other cities, the staff always made me feel right at home. But in Fuzhou, they were quite indifferent. The only contact was a perfunctory follow-up call after checking out. I think you could learn from practices in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions, as well as Guangdong. They often have dedicated butlers, and both the front desk and butlers actively contact guests, checking in and showing genuine care. Especially in Guangzhou, the service is so good it almost makes you feel embarrassed! **Food:** The breakfast offered mostly local specialties. I'm someone who isn't usually picky, but I found many dishes unappetizing, and the variety wasn't great. I suppose it's understandable if they're trying to cut costs. **Overall, I didn't have a good experience!**

Mminge961This hotel is conveniently located near Metro Lines 1 and 2, making it easy to get around. It's situated on the third floor of a shopping mall. The facilities are comprehensive, and the hygiene is excellent – the toilet in the bathroom was notably new and clean. The breakfast offers a good variety of options. On the downside, the room was a bit small, and the soundproofing was poor; I could clearly hear conversations from next door. However, the price was quite affordable for Xiamen.

11360195****The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of Gulangyu Island. It's tucked away in a quiet spot but still close to Longtou Road, where all the restaurants are, and attractions like Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. We stayed in Building 9, which was very peaceful. It hardly felt like the bustling National Day holiday, but as soon as we stepped out of the hotel, we were met with throngs of people – truly two different worlds! The hotel has a private back exit for guests that leads to a quiet beach with very few people. The kids absolutely loved it, braving the heat and strong sun for over two hours, catching several small crabs. The hotel used to be a government retreat and is now open to the public. While the facilities and decor are a bit dated, you can tell the original fixtures are still of good quality. The room even came with tea ceremony tools, and the kids had a blast playing tea master – the Dahongpao tea was delicious. The hotel service is outstanding. They offer exclusive shuttle transfers from the ferry terminal to the hotel when you arrive and depart. If you're heading straight to the ferry after sightseeing, you can arrange a time with the hotel, and they'll deliver your luggage to the terminal, allowing you to enjoy your day worry-free. The staff are also incredibly helpful; knowing the kids wanted to play on the beach, they even brought sand-digging tools. When we encountered a staff member on the road and asked for directions to the beach, he simply walked us all the way there. We genuinely loved this hotel and highly recommend it.

XXixiansenWe stayed at this hotel with our family during the Chinese New Year. It was very convenient for food, drinks, and entertainment. Dongbai Shopping Mall is right behind the hotel, making shopping super easy. During the New Year, many shops in the city were closed, but Sanfang Qixiang had plenty open. Plus, there were so many authentic Fujian snacks to try right nearby!

Iivy_5471Every year when I come to Xiamen, I stay at the Swiss Grand for a few days, and this is my fourth time. What attracts me most to the Swiss Grand is its excellent location and rooms directly facing Gulangyu Island. I have to say, the Swiss Grand meets all my needs for a trip to Xiamen. First, let's talk about the location. It's situated in the heart of Siming District, right next to Zhongshan Road. You can walk to Bashi Market, the Botanical Garden, and Xiamen Ferry Terminal. Taking a taxi to Nanputuo Temple, Shapowei, the Twin Towers, and Xiamen University is always just the starting fare. The Exit to the hotel is also the starting station of Metro Line 1, which goes directly to Gaoqi Airport. Then there's the room facing Gulangyu Island – it's absolutely unbeatable! It completely matches my aesthetic. Whenever I sit by the floor-to-ceiling window in my room, enjoying the beautiful Gulangyu Island opposite, with a cup of black tea, I feel utterly content. What's even more impressive is that the room is very spacious, well-equipped, and the quality is consistently high. It offers excellent value for money! The breakfast is very rich, with a wide variety of Western and Chinese options, plus local specialties – you name it, they have it, and it all tastes great. The service is excellent; the greeters at the entrance are very attentive. The front desk was a bit ordinary, but customer service responded promptly and was always helpful. The only slight drawback was the slow check-in process. This might be due to the hotel being fully booked during the Chinese New Year holiday, but it also reflects that the hotel doesn't have good solutions for handling such surges in guests. We waited over an hour to check in, and at that time, one guest had waited three hours and still hadn't gotten into their room, and ended up arguing with the front desk... This had a very negative impact on the hotel's image. I hope they can further improve their management during holidays!

GGuest UserI really loved the hotel's design and ambiance. The room was comfortable, spacious, and spotless. It featured a projector, an automatic toilet, and smart room modes; with just a press of a button, the lighting and other settings would adjust automatically. They also offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from the train station, which was incredibly convenient. There's a courier station just a 3-minute walk away. The breakfast spread offered a good variety too! Everything tasted delicious – flavorful, not too salty or greasy. I especially recommend the *jiuniang* (sweet fermented rice soup), Sihuanhua, fried eggs, and the freshly made noodles. The staff were all very warm and friendly, always greeting us. Knowing we had traveled a long distance, they even gave us a small gift bag containing some snacks and water to help us re-energize for our journey. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time! (They even upgraded us for free as our originally booked room type wasn't available due to a late check-out. *Please note: The attached photo is of the upgraded room, not our original booking.*)
