Shanghai Airport Code

There’re two main airports in Shanghai. Each has its code (letters as an identifier): Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) & Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA).

“PVG” combines “P” for Pudong and “VG” as a unique identifier. PVG is Shanghai’s primary international hub, which handles about 70% foreign flights (including long-haul routes to Europe/Americas).

“SHA” is the earliest & original airport in Shanghai, opened in 1907. It mainly serves domestic flights and short-haul international flights (like East Asia).

What US Cities Fly Direct to Shanghai?

Several US cities offer non-stop flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). You can fly from the top departure cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. Airlines like China Eastern, United, and Air China are recommended, which offer frequent routes.

Other cities like Dallas and Chicago offer seasonal or less frequent direct flights to Shanghai. Most routes require connections. Note that Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) rarely serves flights from the U.S. – only a few routes (like Los Angeles – Shanghai) with a higher cost.

The Bund at night is absolutely stunning. Even with the light drizzle, so many people still went to the Bund to take photos.

The views are good, but the windows are dirty. It's very crowded, and the express pass only works downstairs, and then on the way to the elevator. After that, you're still stuck in the general queue. It was unclear at first which queue to stand in, but we figured it out eventually. I don't think there's any point in buying a three-sphere ticket.

The park was huge, we went the entire day and yet we couldn't finish. We went show after show, skip the amusement park thinking we will have time later on but end up the kids we're so happy in every enclosure and looking forward to the cute ice cream theme at every cafe and pitstop. Overall it's a enjoyable park for children who love sea animals.

The museum is beautiful and atmospheric! The exhibition is available in English, but even without translation, it's easy to understand thanks to the interactive exhibits. It's engaging for both children and adults.
