It was a truly memorable trip. On our first day, it was drizzling. Auntie explained that winter in the tea mountains is the dry season, and it hadn't rained for a month. This was the first spring rain, and we witnessed a sea of ​​clouds slowly rising from the mountains. That evening, we drank Pu'er tea made by Auntie and received a souvenir containing ancient tree Pu'er tea she had made. The tea trees here are very old, mostly over a hundred years old, covered in moss and parasitic plants. Tea pickers have to climb these ancient, tall trees to harvest the fresh buds and leaves. I'm very grateful to Auntie for such a precious gift. After having a local breakfast of rice noodles, we spent the morning in the ancient tea garden. At an altitude of 1800 meters, the mornings were cool and the sun was pleasant. The animals here are very free; chickens, pigs, cows, and dogs roamed the tea plantations with us, creating a harmonious atmosphere. I strolled around the village; it was very primitive and rustic. In the afternoon, I saw an incredibly healing sunset. The experience here was completely different from the guesthouses in the city. I was hosted by the auntie herself, and her family was very kind and warm. There were no waiters, and even the animals were free and content. It felt like being isolated from the world, perfect for city dwellers like us to relax. It was truly a very relaxing experience and trip.

It was truly an outstanding experience. Mr. Xu ended up driving us around for our entire stay - from tea stores to local Dai village, till sending us to the train station. We tasted amazing teas, tried local foods, made tea cakes, went to see ancient tea tree with him; he even invited us to dinner with his friends. Breakfast is amazing with view of clouds; the restaurant in the hotel has really good food. Fruit plate every afternoon; tea tasting with Jiangjiang, a Laobanzhang tea expert. We leaned so much about puer tea and tasted some of the best puer teas in the region. One of the most unforgettable stay ever for us and we are so grateful!

I did a detailed study of various homestays in Nannuo Mountain on Ctrip, and finally chose Nannuo Mountain Tea Garden Homestay. Nannuoshan Tea House B&B is far better than some of the surrounding inns in terms of eating. I understand that some B&Bs in the surrounding area have to solve the problem of eating outside by themselves. We booked a 45 square meter courtyard king bed room at Jizhu Holiday Apartment in Menghai Resort. Since we arrived early and the room was not ready yet, the owner upgraded us to a 60 square meter one bedroom and one living room suite. The owner was very enthusiastic and had a strong sense of service, and it felt like home.

From the moment we arrived, it felt as though we were visiting a dear friend rather than staying in a hotel. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care made us feel completely at home. The food was exceptional, and we were treated to fresh fruits and tea throughout the day. She showed special care for our children, teaching them (and us!) how to make tea, and even accompanied us on a walk to share her knowledge of the local flora. One day, she surprised us with her hidden talent as a musician, singing traditional Chinese songs while playing the guitar and drums. Her smile and positive energy were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all of us. This homestay was more than just a place to stay—it was an unforgettable experience filled with beauty, warmth, and cultural connection. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories, knowing this was the best place we've ever stayed in China. We wanted espresso martinis, which were off menu, and he learnt very quickly how to make a tasty espresso martini. The hotel provides lovely amenities and daily activities. The swimming pool is a real photo opportunity as it’s an infinity pool and you are surrounded by beautiful scenery. The bar has the best views and very chilled. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and free dessert was offered on the first night.

It is still quite a long way from Menghai to Zhanglang Ancient Village. The proprietress specially drove to pick us up and also saw us off when leaving, which was very considerate. After checking in, we received one-stop service for food, drink, and entertainment, which felt very good. Eat: Breakfast is wood-fired hanging pot bean porridge, which is very delicious. I drank three large bowls around the stove and was satisfied. Lunch is mushrooms picked in the mountains. The bright red mushrooms are like elves in the mountains, so beautiful and spiritual. Simple mountain spring water stews into a mushroom soup with a strong aroma of fungus. Dinner is wild vegetables and pumpkin sprouts picked randomly by the roadside, which are also very delicious when stir-fried. By pounding bitter eggplant, pounding river bamboo shoots, and pounding tomatoes, you can taste the unique flavor of the mountains. I also ate their own wild honey, which was sweet to my heart. Drink: The landlady brought out various kinds of ancient tree tea and Pu'er tea for us to taste. With the sound of rain outside the tearoom and the faint fragrance of tea in the tearoom, we chatted about home affairs in an understated way. I felt that although the landlady is young, she has a sense of self-reliance. The sense of self-reliance and strength brings respect. This homestay really exceeded my expectations. The environment is very good and the rooms are very clean. Even the toiletries are international brands. The hair dryer is also Dyson. The computer configuration is very good. I have been here before. Recently, the computer configuration has been replaced with a new one. All have been changed. The graphics card has been replaced with 5060 and the processor has been replaced with a 14-generation i7. They are all new mouse, mechanical keyboard, and feel very good.
